It would be good if Meghan and Harry can forge their own identity outside of RF. It's still relatively early days given COVID but I don't think they'll achieve what they want focusing on any perceived slights with RF. It can be irritating.

8roses · 30/04/2023 21:20

Not impressed so far - her title is wrong on the bio they’ve done for her

CathyorClaire · 30/04/2023 21:28

Covid scuppered every plan they'd made and the whole thing has been a draw-dropping masterpiece of botched footwork ever since.

It's been great...

I struggle to keep up with my family and friends. I cant imagine wasting time on a person who sees me as peasant.

But you spend a lot of time on an anonymous forum defending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. How is that different?

I know. It's bloody hilarious. Meghan who despised the royal walkabouts and wanted to be paid for them.

Coronateachingagain · 30/04/2023 22:18

I wonder if her new agency would accept paid speaking engagements in the UK to speak about gobbledegook compassion in action but first pay me 😅

That is pretty obvious isn't it. I'd have to travel to see a member of the the Royal family and stand for however long it takes. It takes a couple of seconds to add this post. I could do it on the toilet to save time if I wanted.

I know! I should say it but it's been highly entertaining watching the pair plummet from the heights of a royal wedding, to being less popular in the states than prince Andrew! Schadenfreude at its worst 😂

On one hand, Covid scuppered their plans but it also gave them breathing space to think about the best strategy and also reflect. One of the first high profile things they did post covid was the OW interview. It made them look negative and bitter. The NF series and Spare amplified that. Is that the best way to build a global brand? Wouldn’t smiling and saying nothing negative about the RF be the best foundation for long term success?

We must say nothing negative about the royal family, must we? For they can do no wrong. And have the media in their pockets. If anyone dares to air a grievance they are "negative and bitter" and must be shut down.

The RF really are the empire's new clothes. Just smile and wave blandly, while hiding your secrets, and the public will lap it up, that's how to build a global brand, isn't it.

Why can't she say anything negative about The Royal family?

LadyMuckingabout · 01/05/2023 10:41

Has anyone seen the investigative French documentary about Archewell? I haven’t seen it, but on (insert European tv) saw that the journalist turned up numerous times at the HQ and no one was there and other building occupants hadn’t seen anyone, and then there was suddenly a “works outing” Hmm

I'd love to watch this. Was it on C+?

I've watched it. Its got subtitles, but the reviewer explains it really well. Basically it investigates Archwell and it is dodgy but legal. Uses every available loophole, has accounts that show the two single donators. No new york office, just a postal address.

Can't be any worse than the RoyAl family. They hide behind tax loopholes and aren't subject to FOI. At least my taxes aren't going to Arch well.

I’m not talking about what’s best for the RF I’m just thinking objectively if someone wants to build an image/brand, it’s better in the long run to attract attention for positive reasons rather than negative. H and M attracted a lot of attention as people wanted to hear some dirt on the royals. There’s only so much gossip to be shared, particularly as they have not been part of the RF for over three years.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/05/2023 11:28

Very much agree with you, Gilmorehill. Very few have suggested the RF are any better - after all they produce plenty of dirt of their own - but why not rise above it and concentrate on building a much better life rather than the endless revisiting of perceived grievances, the telling of which isn't even always coherent?

michaelmacrae · 01/05/2023 12:11

Why can't the royals rise above their behaviour? Why is it only Harry and Meghan that have to be better?

So people wanted to hear dirt on the royals, yet hate H&M for it? 🤔Very hypocritical.

I don't see any other royals behaving like Harry and Meghan?

Howsimplywonderful · 01/05/2023 12:43

Michelle Obama managed to rise above the horrible insults directed at her, and came out looking far better than descending into the gutter

Meghan unfortunately has not followed this approach.

Michelle Obama was a high achiever in her own right - an associate for one of the world's largest law firms, where she met her husband. She was then executive director of various charities, the kind that had to do you know actual work.

Meghan Markle was a B-list (that's being generous!) actress prior to her marriage. She had top billing in Suits but nothing much apart from that... a couple of Hallmark movies here and there...

Other royals have spoken out about the trials of being royal against the family, such as Prince Charles.

Other royals have behaved badly such as Charles, Camilla, Sophie, Fergie, Diana - and Andrew. Andrew has behaved FAR worse than either Harry or Meghan. But he keeps schtum so I guess speaking out is a FAR worse crime than sleeping with a trafficked girl.

The King is adulterer. Yes I know Diana was as well but she was very young when she married and not from the most stable of background. He was too weak and self absorbed to refuse to marry a woman he didn't love. He is a liar. He hung around with prolific paedophiles and defended one of them.

Yes Michelle Obama is exactly the kind of person I was thinking of! I’d never really thought too deeply about her until I watched the Becoming documentary. Her approach to life is really inspiring. I love the fact that she clearly admires and loves her husband but she doesn’t worship the ground he walks on. It’s very healthy.

That was Michelle's right to do that but no one should have to put up with racism and abuse.
