Why have Harry and Meghan chosen titles for their DC?

I genuinely don't understand their reasoning behind them decision to make Archie and Lilibet Prince and Princess - they hate the monarchy, it drive Meghan to suicidal thoughts, in their doc they describe the commonwealth as Empire 2.0 etc etc.

Can someone please enlighten me?

@Maireas when I was ill for a long time I discovered reality tv! One of my kids insisted I watch with her and now I can’t stop 😂 the countess divorced her European Count, but she uses the title still as her stage name for cabaret! Really! Apparently it’s popular. She also wrote a book on etiquette, Class with the Countess!

I think they’d be welcomed in the U.K. personally, they’ll have tonnes of second cousins of their age to hang out with and aunts/ uncles ( once removed) to meet. What their parents did in 2020 - 2023 will be ancient history.
if they have instagram ( or whatever) accounts where they are just flogging stuff or if they use their titles for political purposes then yes they will be criticised but if they just get on with life and maybe even have actual jobs they’ll be fine.

Actually I was wondering this, I’m not quite sure she signed up for this. That this was the plan. It’s really gone horribly wrong.

Don’t get me wrong she was with harry and supporting him/enabling him, often making it worse with her half truths and accusations, but he’s clearly flying solo now and has been since spare came out and he started his media onslaught to promote it.

when I think back to that ridiculous statement they put out when they first left, about being new hybrid royals, making their own money and collaborating with the queen, and her then telling them no chance, and in her public statement saying she and her whole family sincerely hoped they’d now go and build a peaceful life, and the spiteful way they’ve behaved since that no, I wonder if either of them look back now and think they went too far.

If they’d played it different they could have had so much, they could have been so popular, still ran around with a listers, promoted causes and even done podcasts if that was their thing. Christ the queen even told Meghan she could continue to act.

now they’ve fuck all other than a contentious and divisive reputation, infamy, but are some of the wealthiest people on the planet. They got a fuck ton more than 13 pieces of silver. that’s for sure,

But I do wonder, if in their quieter moments, in their heads, if it was worth it. They got the money, sure, but I think, for Meghan at least, it was also about fame, respect and adoration and that ship has truly sailed.

for harry I don’t think it was about fame or respect, I think it was about jealousy and spite. He is lost and a mess. And there is no way Meghan can’t see that.

It does seem odd that they have decided to use titles for an institution they consider to be colonialist and racist.

And what are those kids going to do once they are older? The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have given their children the choice by leaving it until they are 18 to decide.

Once the Wales children grow up and marry they will no longer be in the top ten line of succession. And they will now never be working royals (unlike the late Queen’s cousins).

Why take titles for your kids for an institution that you don’t appear to like and that they will never work for that belongs to a country you appear to think is backwards and racist?

Unless it is because they know that they have almost no gravitas and appeal without the titles and the connection is gives them to the institution.

I hope those children are truly allowed to decide how they want to proceed with this when they are older and aren’t pushed early into adopting the titles for media purposes.

Re Duchess of York ... she's a bloody joke too - back in the day, her off to USA, making money from anything she can surrounding her title/gossip, Epstein paid her debts apparently?! Toe sucker ... sound like a familiar direction? Look at her now!
