No surprise he's coming on his own to the coronation.

Probably for the best under the circumstances. M would want to be with the kids and the children would be bored stiff at the ceremony.

FrownedUpon · 12/04/2023 16:22

Better if neither of them came, but Harry needs to keep himself relevant I suppose. Can’t imagine he’s looking forward to it. Who will even want to speak to him?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/04/2023 16:26

Of course they wouldn’t be booed

I do hope not Confused
Personally I'd rather this whole thing wasn't happening at alll, so because of that I wouldn't go - and anyway why spoil it for those who'll enjoy it by ugly booing?

Then again Charles seems to be attracting his share so who knows what'll happen? Harry's made his choice, and as with all other choices he'll just have to live with the consequences

SirChenjins · 12/04/2023 16:27

Definitely the best solution all round - keeps the focus on the coronation and reduces the friction in the family. I suppose it also gives Harry fodder for his next book if he decides to go down that ‘I must share my story, the world needs to hear it’ route again.

FluffyHamster · 12/04/2023 16:28

I know he's brought it on himself, but I do feel a bit sorry for Harry - to be so visibly on his own, in conflict with his family, and to have the world's media on him. I hope the RF will 'rise above it all' and find a way to be civil and even friendly - to offer an olive branch and a route back for him to begin to rebuild his relationship.

I wonder if a member of the RF will be 'assigned' to keep him company during his visit? Probably one of his cousins, Beatrice or Eugenie?

LindorDoubleChoc · 12/04/2023 16:29

I don't think either of them are all that popular with the GB public right now, so likely they might get booed as the GB public are not great with manners at all times.

But why aren't they popular? It didn't come out of nowhere. The damage has been done and I don't think can ever be rectified.

holdtightly · 12/04/2023 16:30

To the detractors Harry is the kings son and whatever thoughts anyone has about him that will never change. No one has said the reason Meghan isn't coming is because of Archie's birthday. To be fair to Charles I thought he treated her very well and even Harry in his book spoke lovingly about him. Whatever Harry has done whether you think it is right or wrong Charles will always love him and that will never change. Where W &K are concerned that is a different story and it seems from a lot which has been said they didn't like her from the get go. Meghan did say on Oprah that Kate was a good person but I think whatever she did or said they were never going to like her she was just too different from them in so many ways and I think racism and snobbery did have a part to play in that.

Twizbe · 12/04/2023 16:31

@PollyThePixie they wouldn't be at the ceremony, but they likely would be with their similar aged cousins. I also imagine there are some private family gatherings around the main event they'd have gone to as well.

I have loads of cousins, and while we aren't close there is something fun about us all getting together. I fear it could make Archie and Lilibet feel quite 'other' by being kept away.

Aren't you the person constantly posting on threads about people you are apparently sick of hearing about?

😂😂😂

Twizbe · 12/04/2023 16:33

@holdtightly I wouldn't say snobbery or racism for M v K but more American v British. I've known so many people from California (in particular) who have really struggled to settle into British culture.

Were you hoping for a personal catch up with Meghan that weekend?

LOL

I’m no fan of either of them but despite that it’s sad a family are so divided. There are no winners here. Do I think any less of the RF because of this decision? No. Do I think any the less or any the more of H and M because of it? No. It it what it is. Sadly.

Who’ll speak to Harry? I’m sure there are family members who still love him and will be happy to see him.

Hopefully it's the last time he sets foot in the country for a few years. Just enjoy your life overseas and leave us in peace.

It's his country as much as ours, he can come and go as much as he pleases.

I think you need to learn to breathe ... and lower your blood pressure.

I would report your post if I could be arsed. But it's better it stands up so everyone knows that Cam22 is saying that Meghan and Harry's children aren't real.
Take note everyone.

This is very interesting Twizbe in what way ?

FlightOwl · 12/04/2023 16:36

I give it five minutes until they compare her not going to Joe Biden not going and sending Jill.

I sadly think they would have been booed as well.

Although she was at the Platinum Jubilee and the late Queen's funeral, and the children were younger, so it can't be that. Plus Princess Lilibet's 1st birthday was at the same time as the Jubilee. Must be other reasons. Still a shame.

Robinni · 12/04/2023 16:37

Hallelujah!

I was so excited for them in the beginning.

Just fed up listening to all the self indulgent nonsense. Kate and Wills appear to be able to get on with the job, although Kate is stick thin. The issue with Meghan is she isn’t British and couldn’t bring herself to respect the monarchy or duty to the British people. They aren’t her people. Have watched a lot of their “content”, annoyed me she made fun of traditions/ways of doing things. Harry is just so spoilt. Admittedly traumatised. But spoilt and jealous.

I’m glad there is not to be a circus 🎪 and that Charles will have Harry’s support.

I’m not watching the Coronation in any event. Don’t agree with all this Queen Camilla business. They are both adulterers for goodness sake. Bad enough being stuck with Charles but top honour for her. Just no. What sort of an example does it set? They almost destroyed the monarchy and totally disrespected British values. As much as I am of a fan of Charles’ environmental work, bring on King William! Pronto.

iaapap · 12/04/2023 16:38

I think she’s right to stay away. Not sure why he’s coming. They both are pretty much estranged from the royal family so why attend? I certainly wouldn’t go to anything relating to someone I’d essentially cut off and emigrated to get away from. Hope he’s not gathering more book/interview material.

QualityTweet · 12/04/2023 16:38

I feel for Harry. He isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer and has been easily manipulated by Meghan, who has her own agenda. I'm pleased he's coming on his own, as mentioned earlier its the best option.

No matter what happens down the line with this couple, life will never go back to how it was for him, and that's very sad.

Me too. It's a sad reflection on the RF and their inability to manage things properly. If only for one day.

Are you saying they should try to force her to come?

@Maireas I think she might be pregnant again, aside from anything else.

I missed that. Dear lord, I hope it was just a distasteful joke, rather than an actual belief..
