Kate - walkabout with Harry & Meghan after Queen’s death one of the hardest things she’d done.

Thought she’d shot daggers at Meghan when she got out of the car!

Wonder why that was?

That was before the Netflix doc and Spare release as well.

Coincidence this is being published now before H&M confirm if they’re going to accept the invite to the coronation?

Kate: Walkabout with Harry and Meghan 'one of hardest things ever'

Kate and William's appearance with Harry and Meghan to greet well-wishers and view the flowers outside the gates of Windsor Castle came two days after the Queen's death at the age of 96

They were never going to be besties, but the way they were pitted against each other almost from the beginning is disgusting

The press did exactly the same with Fergie and Di back in the day. They love a good rivalry and will make one up if necessary.

pilates · 08/04/2023 09:24

I’m sure if you took loads of photos in a day you could find a glare in all of us. If we were to walk round with a constant smile on your face that wouldn’t be right either.

This, and the British public by large has totally brought into it, just as the media knows that they will. You only have to read some of the crazy posts on MN to see proof of that.

There is a good example of this on the first page, it's not a competition in who had the worst day out of the two.

I'm sure it was far harder for Meghan than it was for bloody kate. We can all see how she stared her down hard before she smiled and waved, yet we're supposed to feel sorry for poor, waity katie, who doesn't know what a hard life is. Don't think so.

LadyKenya · 08/04/2023 09:43

No doubt it would have been hard for both of them, and their husbands. All of them!

So, a book written by one of those Palace leeches? Serialised by daily mail. Less than a month before the coronation. UK tabloids are revolting scum.

Anything for the Fail to make a quick filthy buck.

And MM's name makes them a lot of money. Especially denigrating her somehow. We haven't seen her in ages, so they have to trawl back to past events.

This one, I think, because it was making the rounds on twitter. With MM followers saying MM was backing away from KM like you would from your abuser. Also the fact that when they got out of the car, KM 'arrogantly stormed off in front of MM and it had to be Willy who introduces MM to a person' - not my words.

As MM said, there is retail space in those column inches and the royal one always has to be filled.

You are not kidding! It always amazes me that people actually believe what is written in that scurrilous rag.

Cokefans · 08/04/2023 11:04

what parts of the story are people alleging are untrue? Robert Jobson has written loads of books about the royals. He’s a veteran royal reporter and so should know to have accurate sources. Lawyers will have been all over the book before it was serialised. What parts are untrue and if so, someone should sue?

Yes, I agree. I felt particularly bad for Meghan who probably had absolutely no intention of being anywhere near the UK when QEII died, and so could just jet in for the funeral, if she chose to attend at all. And then as things panned out she was in the country and so had to be present for a whole heap of events with a family with whom there was every reason for mutual ill-regard.

I can’t imagine any of them was comfortable under those conditions. And I don’t think it’s a competition either. And after Spare and the Netflix series I can’t imagine the coronation will be any more comfortable.

FictionalCharacter · 08/04/2023 11:23

Ah yes, the DM. I don’t believe for a moment she said that,

There is true and then there is what somebody actually meant. So Kate might have said 'its one of the hardest things I've had to do' meaning being in public smiling and offering words of condolence to random people when it is her DH that has lost his grandmother. And that having to do this alongside family members that you feel have 'let the side down' was an added layer of strain.
But this statement is taken and twisted and used as a stick to beat those family members with - how can she sue (and if the RF sued at every untruth, half truth and out of context remark they would never be out of court) - if she said it was hard but the context and meaning have been skewed.

Cokefans · 08/04/2023 11:25

@OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit I agree with that

Cokefans · 08/04/2023 11:28

@Whaeanui I said SHOULD - log he hasn’t, someone can sue - like they didn’t with Tom bower

Cokefans · 08/04/2023 11:28

If he hasn’t 😂

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 11:32

Someone not suing isn’t a sign it’s truthful. They write insane amounts of stories daily.

Why should you feel bad for her? If you’re part of a family, you support them at times like these, which in the case of the RF means attending these events. If you bear such ill will towards them that this is difficult for you, don’t bother showing up at all.

michaelmacrae · 08/04/2023 11:44

Which she did.

If you bear such ill will towards them that this is difficult for you, don’t bother showing up at all.

But she did. She did her best, despite it being hard. But still let's beat her up for that too, shall we?

It's very cringy the author saying this - with or without Kate's consent. But I must admit I feel a bit judgy of Kate - she did have a poker face during those moments.

If she’d been all smiles people would have ripped her to shreds, the Queen had just died! No idea if she’s said this or not, but if she did then you know thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. 🤔

Everyone has difficult relatives they struggle to get on with and have to bite their tongue.

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 11:32

As meghan and harry are serial litigants, they would sue for sure if the book lies about them. As they should.

Deafening silence re Tom Bowers book though

Whaeanui · 08/04/2023 11:50

Why should you feel bad for her?

It’s called empathy. Someone with death threats and white powder sent to her house by people claiming to love the royal family, had to be exposed to thousands of royal fans and was clearly nervous and scared.

Darthwazette · 08/04/2023 11:56

Kate doesn’t hide her feeling very well, that’s not a criticism, but you can always tell if William has pissed her off or the kids are playing up or whatever. She clearly doesn’t like Meghan but they all did their best on that walkabout. I don’t think you can judge any of them for finding it hard.

greenlychee · 08/04/2023 11:58

i can't imagine it was any harder for her than for meg / harry tbh.
