... but still with their contacts, and influence, and knowledge of the inner workings of the tabloids. Oh, and the same attitudes they would have had when they were tabloid "journalists". Probably why they were hired specifically, and not some other random press person.

I agree, @michaelmacrae.

If the RF wanted experts in shaping & delivering comms and effective PR strategies, they have their pick of truly gifted, world-renown pros.

Instead they scraped the bottom of the barrel to bring on DM alumni?? Makes no sense, unless they desired & required that shark-like mentality.

But I don’t think it’s working for them. It’s sadly just creating a bigger cesspool while further eroding the RF stature and prestige.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 15:02

I’ve just gone back to check why @Roussette has been accused of things and is being focused on ( as that happens a lot ) and actually the first time it got personal between you was when you agreed with this inappropriate comment made about them:
Are you ok? I mean that genuinely. You are all over these threads and come across as deeply irate and upset if anyone dares criticise them. Do you know them personally? Are you related? I can only imagine reacting like this over a close friend or family member, as it goes well beyond a rationale discussion or defence and is clearly a highly emotional topic for you

The above was a disingenuous post to make it seem like Rousette has a problem, but as irrational and which was also called an ‘obsession’ by yourself @GrinAndVomit Rousette never called anyone stupid or think and is not on any ‘side’ so shouldn’t be held responsible for anyone else’s comments. I think you should let it go now.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 15:06

@PlanetLuna and @michaelmacrae and also my point was that a parent employing someone from the very publisher that your wife had taken to court ( and won ) over publishing a private letter, and that you had expressed to them was causing your wife and yourself serious mental health problems with the coverage they were putting out, that’s going to make a relationship very hard to maintain. You’ve literally employed someone that’s caused your son and his wife misery.

I do agree with it! I do think it is obsessive.

This is not in conflict with me pointing out that they are perfectly happy to (and entitled to) have very strong opinions about public figures while not allowing any discourse at all about this particular public couple.

To get repeatedly @‘d and then told to not reply is absolutely insane.

This is how these threads go every single time though.

Roussette · 31/03/2023 15:20

I have not once @ you. Not once I'm afraid to tell you that the MN forum does that automatically if I quote you. So please do not tell me I am doing that because I am not.

Also... I am not not allowing anything! It's a forum! People can hold their opinions as they like and post them. I am exhausted with this to be honest. Let's call it a day please.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 15:24

@GrinAndVomit then you are responsible for making personal remarks, while @Roussette did no such thing to you. As for ‘not allowing’ negative stuff, that’s just laughable when this board is dominated with absolute nastiness about H & M.

@Whaeanui
Oh, I see what you mean. 😯
Yeah, I can’t imagine doing that to my family.

I suppose it’s similar to Camilla’s appointment of Angela Levine to write her biography, after her horrid attacks on Meghan and Harry.

jeffgoldblum · 31/03/2023 15:28

I'm sure @Roussette , is capable of fighting her own corner , let's not stir the pot .

What do you think quoting me does? Am I not allowed to reply to someone who has quoted me?
This is madness!

diflasu · 31/03/2023 15:30

US media has its problems, sure. But the non-taxpaying billionaire controlled British media is significantly worse in terms of distraction & promotion of class inequality and protecting the billionaire royal family.

The US media is in a much worse state from what I've seen than UK - but only because the UK currently has the BBC and channel 4 news- and more niche publications like Private Eye.

The print media - is a declining market share with declining influence - and at local and national level is dire straits and has been for some time.

Radio and TV news is in slightly better place though any have concerns both about BBC coverage and biases creeping in and how under attack they are.

I also think post brexit and post covid many more are more skeptical of media coverages and biases and many are making huge strides to take in news from more sources - but it's hard to gauge how widespread that feeling and behavior actually is.

What tf did I just read? 🦇💩

The Vanessa Grigoriadis comments are truly deranged. The main thrust of her article (and based on assertions from proven liar Samantha Markle) is that Meghan misrepresented her history including financial aid in college?? That’s a reach. US university tuition, especially someplace like Northwestern, is extremely expensive. No way did Thomas Markle pay for her full ride. Surely he contributed some, but scholarships, financial aid, part-time jobs for Meghan would’ve been a necessity.

The comments about Harry’s “ace in the hole” are especially nasty & repugnant.
There really is no bottom for these jealous, deranged individuals, is there?

See you next Tuesday, Grigoriadis! 😂

Exactly when you actually read the article it actually shows up Vanessa Grigoriadis not Meghan.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 15:36

Jeff, sorry but if you can do it for other posters then I can do it for @Roussette 👍🏾

This feels like school bullying, just on a global level

That’s because it absolutely is. Nobody deserves this, but over and over again the world selects a woman to torment and these days it’s so much easier. The fact she’s spoken of suicidal thoughts and mental health issues because of it, highlights how society still doesn’t really care about those things at all.

It highlights how people here don't care about them at all too. Funny how empty all that "empathy" that people show on other threads seems when you consider the relentless bullying and racism shown, often by the same posters, on the "Meghan threads". Never mind all that self-righteous equality stuff about the misogyny of everyone else. And they call her a hypocrite. You don't have to go that far to find the hypocrites because they are all over these threads.

Out of all the 'career changers' in the country, I will just plump for the one that abused my son and his family.

Lots of people to headhunt in the media, but Charles and Camilla went for these effers .

PlanetLuna · 31/03/2023 14:41

I think it's actually worse because the US media manipulates the people enough so they ignore the class inequality, that it’s harder to move up the ladder because their whole system is designed to benefit the rich instead of the middle or working class.

Wow. Must be “Opposites Day” 🙃

US media has its problems, sure. But the non-taxpaying billionaire controlled British media is significantly worse in terms of distraction & promotion of class inequality and protecting the billionaire royal family.

Re other comments this afternoon:

  1. Meghan & Harry are immensely popular in the US especially and around the world. All those pitiful contrived little polls dragged out by “friends & relatives of Camilla’s” notwithstanding. 😂

  2. Simply repeating a thing over & over devoid of any basis in reality will not make it true.

Yep, and those polls are either from Camilla's nephew at YouGov or a sample of 2K people out of millions in the US.

Roussette · 31/03/2023 15:58

Betfair Bingo did a poll of over 2,000 Uk people.

It asked "which Royal would you like to see take on the role of King or Queen next"

William was first. Harry was second. Ahead of all the other royals.

I did laugh! Before I get jumped on, I don't hold much store on any polls to be honest.

PlanetLuna · 31/03/2023 16:00

I did skim read the article this morning, you get a lot of random news and articles on Apple News! , to be honest I found it incomprehensible and badly written, I couldn't work out where quotes were and who from! .
I only opened the thread because I was surprised to see it appear so quickly! .

Yeah, by an OP who has either NC'd or left the country in a hurry!

jeffgoldblum · 31/03/2023 16:12

Indeed @Roussette ! , a mystery, start a thread you know will cause friction then bugger off !
I've noticed a few of these types of threads from new ( or nc) posters lately and suspiciously from both sides of the coin.

Yes, and yet Harry is called the "Judas" and disloyal. What is there to be loyal to, when your own father behaves like this?

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 16:16

@jeffgoldblum & @Roussette I see that a lot on AIBU. I’ll have to try and watch out for the username as you’re right, they only posted to start this

so true. all these posts on a thread about someone who hasn't been seen for ages.
gets the click though!
@Roussette ignore, this is a pattern on here, posters you have never heard of trying to shut you down/hound you of threads/get you banned. really boring.

jeffgoldblum · 31/03/2023 16:23

I know @Samcro , hardly anyone interested in the nice thread about Paul o'grady and camilla! .
