Really...?

He has had his State visit to France cancelled, so two days freed up.

Some families do not learn.

Five of the seven claimants attended as a show of strength and unity and to draw attention to the case. Good for them. You might want Harry never to show his face again... but tough. Why can't he be there with the rest of them

Elton John went in the side entrance and there was more footage of him than Harry.

Harry did not choose the court date, the courts decide that

The fact that Harry went in the front says a lot in my view. There was a lot more footage of him than of Elton. He also made a statement, which none of the rest of them did. He was undoubtedly enjoying the attention and publicity.

Exactly. It’s a carefully considered strategy. ANL want as little attention on this as possible. Honestly every time Harry does anything it’s going to clash with some event a royal family member might be doing so it’s a bit silly to think his every move is somehow related.

Whaeanui · 02/04/2023 13:11

It was reported as his witness statement from the filing, he made no public statement about it. Not from what I’ve read. Every claimants witness statements were read during this hearing, they’re published so you should be able to easily find them if you’re interested.

Good for him. He made sure the case was front pages. Except in the DM of course who tried to ignore the whole thing.

I don’t think any of the claimants have enjoyed discovering someone was invading their private communications and this case is a long and expensive process.

Haha. Meghan announcing her pregnancy at Eugenie's wedding. Class. It's surprising how so many things clash. You're so naive.

Coronation day on Archie's birthday, hopefully was a get out for them attending,

Well I'm sure it will go to trial, and as the major witness for the prosecution has recanted his testimony, it will be an interesting read.

MarshaMelrose · 02/04/2023 13:36

It's unusual for the claimants to attend and totally unnecessary.

I thought Harry was against unnecessary plane travel. How convenient it must be to have such flexible ethics.

He flew commercial. So that criticism of him doesn't fly (good turn of phrase from me there!)

No flexible ethics and you desperate to criticise him for something that didn't happen.

Whaeanui · 02/04/2023 13:45

@purpledalmation you’re so naive I’m really not. You’re very childish. You’re so desperate for this case to fail just because Harry is involved, regardless of whether ANL behaved illegally or not. It’s sad.

It's nothing to do with private or commercial flights. Harry has said holiday makers should take less flights and their flights will be commercial.

It certainly will, if it goes all the way

And I'm still confused about the star witness's testimony; with my cynical hat on I might even wonder if he's been got at ...

Really? Now you are making me laugh. All you can criticise him for is this?

He's doing really well then! He flew commercial on a scheduled flight but you say he shouldd never get in a plane again... okey doke!

HeddaGarbled · 02/04/2023 14:11

Is he talking about the original statement (I did illegal stuff for the Mail) or the more recent recantation (no I didn’t) in that tweet?

Snorlaxing · 02/04/2023 14:13

He is talking about the original statement.

Snorlaxing · 02/04/2023 14:16

He says that the original statement was "I did illegal stuff for the Sunday People and NOW" and the criminal person named has turned it into "I did illegal stuff for ANL too"

If he's correct then did this person dupe the claimants into launching a lawsuit based on fake evidence ?

Snorlaxing · 02/04/2023 14:18

If the judge does a detailed look at the statement and signature then presumably they can work out if the star witness is telling the truth or not.

Let's hope so

By the very nature of the job he willingly did I'm not sure I'd trust the guy anyway, but doubtless the legal brains will be able to sort it out

Please don't gaslight me by telling me what I feel.

😂😂😂 and yet you post all over this board pretending to know how Harry & Meghan feel. I’ll say whatever I want within guidelines, as you do.

The star witness (a private investigate who went to work for Harry (maybe that was his motive??)), made an initial statement which I think a lot of the evidence for the prosecution rests on, recently made another statement where he said none of that happened. No idea of his motives for either statement or which one is true but if a witness lies or retracts statements then nothing he says can be trusted as the truth. That is why it will probably go to trial to have his evidence tested for truthfullness. It could also mean the whole case is thrown out. ANL strongly deny the allegations and after all this time its a difficult call, but as they say, they would say that, wouldn't they?

Could you give me an example of me saying what they feel? I have made statements about their behaviour because it is evidenced. If you mean they feel like victims or feel entitled, that is evidenced by their behaviour. I have no idea of their emotional feelings or why they behave like they do because it is incomprehensible to normal people.

I'm glad I have a secret admirer following my every move 💑

Typical harry hypocrisy. He's entitled to fly wherever and whenever he wants (private jets included) but the peasants can't have their once a year foreign holiday. entitled, much

Howsimplywonderful · 02/04/2023 14:58

I am rather intrigued by the whole thing.

I’m not a legal expert (just some law and order and a smattering of Matlock in my youth - it hasn’t aged well) 😀 so would appreciate someone who does explaining it all

Is this evidence the basis of the case so if it’s proved to be fake does the case proceed to trial or is it dismissed ?

Will all applicants proceed to trial or will some then drop out ?
