so he doesn't deserve basic human rights

And what about the people whose privacy he invaded - do they deserve basic human rights?

I keep seeing this ridiculous, losing argument. Harry is not the first person to issue an autobiography or biography.

Unless someone was raised by wolves with no contact with other people, those books will tell anecdotes and stories that references others.

For example, Charles in his biography referred to how crap his own parents Queen Elisabeth and Prince Philip were in raising him. In language that was much harsher and less loving than Harry described Charles. And he shared a lot of personal information in his efforts to disparage Princess Di.

Harry’s book is about his own life, his own experiences - including the abuse & harassment he & his family have experienced at the hands of the tabloid media for decades.

How Prince Charles Sought Revenge Against Princess Diana and the Palace

Long before Prince Harry penned his highly anticipated memoir, Prince Charles took aim at palace life with a TV special and a tome of his own.

I have no idea when Harry was offered a deal. All I know is... they all were. I read it as it was happening, varying amounts. Some took it up, some didn't as is obvious by this court case.

You can google as well as I can?

wordler · 27/03/2023 18:54

I take back my cynical comment about Harry's motivations for turning up in court today as it was clearly a group organized showing co-ordinated by those bringing the case.

Hopefully, it will put an end to the Harry to be deported speculations though once we see him fly back to America.

Oh stop minimising fgs. Saying your parents 'were crap' is not in the same ball park as revealing your db is circumcised and actually quoting private conversations. He is like a tabloid reporter with his gossip and titbits.

That said we can agree that the papers do need to be held to account and that is good however we can also say Harold The Privacy Invader is a right hypocrite at the same time.

derxa · 27/03/2023 18:58

skullbabe · 27/03/2023 19:03

Reviews of the autobiography were scathing, as its contents were called the whining complaints of an out-of-touch, privileged man. The Guardian called it “a foolish and sorry authorized version,” and the Daily Mirror labeled it “the prince’s crowning act of treachery.”

Plus ça change eh? Like father like son.

I think he already set the rules for mocking bald people. And the rule is...it's OK.

When did Harry mock bald people?

In Spare he spoke about he & William observing each other as adults, trying to reconcile themselves with the children they once were. It was a gripping, honest reflection that was in no way mocking.

The tabloids distorted that passage to attack Harry before the book was released. People choosing to carry on about that snippet, inflating & distorting it, are uninformed or disingenuous.

MrsFinkelstein · 27/03/2023 19:14

GreenistheGrass · 27/03/2023 12:21

The fact Harry can suddenly appear outside the High Court without anyone having the slightest clue he's in the country says everything about good Harry and Meghan are at avoiding leaks and keeping information about themselves out of the papers.

The lack of leaks is why the press hate them.

Goes to show that all the leaking comes from the royal palaces.

Whoever said "where are the other celebs", Sadie Frost was sitting next to Harry in court.

Phone hacking and the other illegal things they do are obviously not legal or ethical, but it's Harry and people hate him so he doesn't deserve basic human rights.

I saw a post on Tik Tok last night with Harry posing for a photo with some random guys with the caption "He stopped over in Florida before his flight to London" so it wasn't top secret.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2023 19:18

The difference is - Someone telling an anecdote about their own life
vs
Someone breaking into a person’s house, stealing their diary and then publishing that very same story

If Harry had kept to anecdotes about himself I'd agree, but sadly he didn't and intentionally or not others are likely to have been hurt in the process

What really is different is that Harry's choices - however unpleasant - weren't actually illegal, whereas phone hacking and the like are. Hence the wish of some of us to see the media hammered if the claim succeeds, even if we have no admiration for one of the people bringing it

I took it all in, his familiar scowl, which had always been his default in dealings with me, his alarming baldness, more advanced than my own, his famous resemblance to Mummy which was fading with time, with age.

As Anderson Cooper said, this is just cutting. It's not attempting to reconcile their past and present. However, I'm happy to talk about his baldness in an honest way, if you prefer. That works just as well for me.

I did. I can't find anything. I've seen ANL in settlement talks with H about libel claims. I've seen the Mirror settling with some claimants. But nothing about settlements with ANL over hacking.

Yes - I’m sure she was pleased to not be thought of as hot by 13 year olds.

I also read the anecdote of her dealing with a bunch of naughty boys - a case point description of what happens when boys are in a pack egging each other on. It’s also an interesting thing he says that he was trying to get them to laugh when he hadn’t laughed for some time - and looking at the age he was and what had recently happened - I get it. Regardless, how awful for teachers and people of authority to have to deal with this type of behaviour. Teachers and carers of the young teens - you have the patience of saints - I for one couldn’t handle it.

That was his tough guy moment. I won't say sorry and Meghan will see it on film and put a sticker on my chart. Five more stickers away from a fancy calligraphy box of laced brownies.

To quote your own words, That's clever only if it's coming from a four year old. It is deeply disturbing if it's coming from a middle aged woman. I bet you're not four.

Because four year olds know all about laced brownies 👏

Agree it was odd of Harry to talk about William baldness as if they do not come from the same family and their hair will all go the same way.

Excellent - so do you genuinely think he’s had a hair transplant? As someone who has looked into it (I developed alopecia after the birth of my second child) I find the hair transfer distribution odd if he has - it would also be unusual to use pubic or axillary hair for this as there is less of it and would produce a natural result. He looks like he has more than enough in the donor area if he wanted to go down that route. I wonder if he’ll do an Elton - just show up one day with a full head of hair 🤣.

It's all on Wiki. Not figures but settlements.

@VixenTodd Seriously, are you okay? I read a really tragic Guardian story recently that reminded me very much of posters like you, and gave me an insight into the hate and rage you must feel towards people you think are having better lives than you, but whom you consider to be underserving.

I really hope you are okay because the rage you exhibit on these threads is a little disturbing.

Own it. I just handed you back your oo when you thought you were cleverly attacking. Don't get angry I am laughing
Consider yourself banned.

milti · 27/03/2023 20:01

I’m not seeing any rage - just piss taking of Harry the drug taking hypocrite

skullbabe · 27/03/2023 20:02

@MrsMaxDeWinter was it the McCann one?

👌That's the Sussex line of attack this week when "haters" got overused. "Why are you so angry?"
You tell them they're banned but they keep trying to talk to you.
