so h takes part in an action against hacking and all people want to talk about is his hair and pubes.
mumsnet has become kidsnet.
I hope they win. no ones phones should be hacked.

Oh please. Hacking is,wrong. If the newspaper is found guilty, they should be punished. But it's not like hacking is news and we're all aghast at it.

On the other hand, Harry likes and sees nothing wrong, as he said in an interview, about discussing other people's baldness. So I'm sure he's as happy to read us talking about his baldness as he was that we read about William's.

'It's amazing to me that posters can't see the difference between Harry being hacked and bugged, and him talking about his life experience.'

It's amazing to me that posters can see any difference between tabloids releasing private info for a pay cheque and Harold releasing private info of others for a pay cheque.

This. He even talked about his brothers private parts. Who does that.

Roussette · 27/03/2023 16:27

So it seems that a book about life experiences that many on here are absolutely obsessed with is equal to... (and I have read the book in full, it really is not that bad)..... and not illegal

So the book is equal to...

Phones being hacked
Medical records being hacked by bribery
People being paid to listen in to every single conversation someone makes
Homes having bugs planted
Cars having bugs planted
Bank accounts and financial records being obtained illegally
Police officers bribed for information on the claimants
Breaking and entering into premises to plant bugs
Intercepting voicemal messages

All illegal.

I mean... really?????

MarshaMelrose · 27/03/2023 16:28

Bluespecsandshoes · 27/03/2023 16:11

'Yeah but no but he was involved in the stories he was leaking' doesn't cut it really. It's the principle. He either agrees with gossiping behind people's back and sharing sensitive info with the media for loadsamoney or he doesn't.

Good try but the case is actually against alleged illegal behaviour such as phone tapping, listening devices, paying off policemen, obtaining financial information illegally.

There didn't used to be a law against revenge porn. It didn't make it OK, though. Things don't have to be illegal to be wrong.

EdieLedwell · 27/03/2023 16:28

Surely we can all at least agree that, with regards to the case, Harry is on the right side here.

Why the need for all this whataboutery?

And the personal comments about his appearance? This has zero to do with the case.

Yeah. Who cares about balding. But how he went after William in his book and his baldness. And he himself looks like this. You can even see that fluff of hair in front standing up to camouflage his baldness.😂

Im sure he doesn’t give a toss if anyone discusses his baldness, both his and Williams and every other balding man’s hair or lack of here talked about. Harry has had every aspect of the way he looks talked about all his life.

The point is, why are you doing it here on this thread which is about something much more serious and involves other people including Baroness Lawrence.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 16:31

More deflection.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 16:33

Jonathan Coad, a senior media lawyer with over 30 years of experience in the field, describes the claims now being brought against Associated Newspapers as “seismic”. “What is even more extraordinary is that one claimant is Baroness Lawrence”.

Will the hacking scandal bring down the Daily Mail?

It's honestly a no brained. Guilty as charged.

It has given me flashbacks to the way certain met officer police operated though, they let down people with their actions. I'll never forget pictures of Nicole and Bibaa looking so happy and free dancing around with lights then suddenly had to encounter a psycho. And getting officers taking photos to share. And Sarah Everard. At best you could say it's a way of coping with the job but it's incredibly disrespectful and insensitive.

Anyway I'm getting onto the met now so best leave it there.

704703hey · 27/03/2023 16:34

704703hey · 27/03/2023 16:24

I see this as being completely unrelated and I hope they win.

But yes he does go on a bit about RF in other areas :)

If ANL are proved to have done it, I hope all the victims win the hacking case. Because privacy intrusion is awful.
But if you're going to criticise others for what you do yourself, you have to accept the criticism that goes with that. Hey, he's counting the millions he's made from his revelations about others, so I guess he's not too worried.

milti · 27/03/2023 16:37

It’s pretty cold today - hope Harold’s wrapped his todger up

And don't you criticise incessantly. You're not the slightest bit interested in this court case and the implications of it. And what it means to ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances to be put through something like this. Underhand illegal tactics that ruin lives.
Far more important to get one over on Harry, eh?

If Baronness Lawrence is part of it, it is big.

What a load of crap. Drawing parallels with what ANL are alleged to have done to numerous people including the Baroness, to him writing about his own life is pathetic. People write biographies ALL THE TIME! Charles did interviews, slammed his mothers parenting..

you are deflecting from a much more serious illegal situation involving other people and are now repeating yourself over and over. I believe that’s called a derail.

Yes, one of the claimants being Baroness Lawrence is extraordinary. I have read that her claim relates to activities dating prior to the Daily Mail campaigning and being at the forefront of trying to get justice for Stephen. That would, however, make her part of the claim very historic and I'm not sure if there is a limit to how far back you can go?

This hacking case is big because of Harrys attendance. Otherwise it wouldn't even get mentioned. And why? Because these lawsuits have being going on for years. Journalists have already been imprisoned. We had a massive enquiry over it. It's just all very old news.

I've neve, ever talked about either William or Harry being going bald. It happens to lots of men and it's really a non-issue. But when Harry gave us all the thumbs up to discuss, and even be rude about, the looks of others, it only seems polite to oblige him.

Yeah he made fun of William.

That doesn't diminish what this case is about however.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 16:46

I think Baroness Lawrence being a claimant is also pretty big but yes, it’s great Harry is shining a light on it because while two people were the scapegoats, nobody who actually held power in those organisations went to prison for it and nothing has changed. In addition, News of The World was under the spotlight then and was closed. Others who are guilty of the same, continue to publish and were not adequately held to account.

You don’t need to derail this important thread with those comments though do you. It’s because Harry is doing something really important despite what it means for him personally, something that will benefit the whole country. He’s joined by other important people too of course so your derailment is also an insult to them.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 16:48

Yeah he made fun of William. There are several clips of interviews of both of them when younger which consisted of William relentlessly teasing Harry in interviews and some of it was surprisingly mean. They’re brothers who don’t get on, making fun of each other is pretty normal and common.

skullbabe · 27/03/2023 16:49

704703hey · 27/03/2023 16:45

Yeah he made fun of William.

That doesn't diminish what this case is about however.

Or explain why they’re making fun of him if they thought that making fun of people who are balding is bad (tbh I thought it was odd of Harry to make the joke as I thought the Windsor baldness gene had not skipped him).

Inkanta · 27/03/2023 16:49

Ah give it a rest MarshaMelrose

GO HARRY!

Proudofeveryone · 27/03/2023 16:53

Wonder
A) where he is staying
B) will he meet up with KC
C) will he meet with PW
D) will he give a reply to the invite for the coronation

Of course I'm not interested in the court case! I was interested when it first happened. I was interested in the Leveson enquiry. But it was over 10 years ago. There nothing new to come out of these cases. It's just the tail end of newspapers, quite rightly, being held to account. It's all going to go on for years.

On the other hand, Harry has given us all the ok to address tonsurial issues. So I'm obliging him.
