How do you feel about this development?

Pics? I mean I was told the royal family were lizards doesn't make it true 🤷

LolaSmiles · 22/03/2023 13:06

Was he there as a working royal or was he there as a private citizen?

Whilst I'd like him to crawl into a hole never to be seen in public again, if it's an event he's eligible to attend and he isn't there as a working royal then I'm not sure what can be dictated given that, as yet, he has not been found guilty of anything.

Really Charles ought to be strongly advising his brother to stay away from such events though.

tatalan · 22/03/2023 13:17

William and Kate skipped this event, interestingly.

Of course it's true.

They are lizards, and here's a photo to prove it.

(Also lizards don't sweat - further proof if you need it)

Prince Andrew BACK in the royal fold
CathyorClaire · 22/03/2023 16:27

Looks like another pointless dressing up opportunity that could quite easily be dispensed with by a monarch genuinely intent on modernising the institution but the royals do love their gongs.

Interestingly though the monarch can and has removed membership (Anthony Blunt and George Pottinger apparently),

One might wonder why Andrew hasn't met the same fate.

Itstimeforlunch707 · 22/03/2023 16:36

Not quite cricket for his name to be omitted from the court circular if he was there in full regalia.

If the Sun is a reliable source on this then I think it’s outrageous he was there publicly representing the monarchy in some way having been “struck off”.

This is what is so hypocritical about the monarchy. They want us all to cheer and be involved in the happy bits, and they attempt to cover up the rest! It just doesn’t work in this day and age.

704703hey · 22/03/2023 16:45

He's not exactly back in the fold, as far as I'm aware he hasn't fallen out with his family - he reminds me of a little kid though, wanting to play dress up

Itstimeforlunch707 · 22/03/2023 16:52

If he is wearing full regalia that suggests he is very much back in the fold doesn’t it? Isn’t that what costumes or uniforms denote?

I am not saying that The Sun is a reliable source though. Does anyone have any solid proof?

Sort of, but it's not in public as far as I know.

I don't understand the RF and all their societies etc

LolaSmiles · 22/03/2023 17:02

Me neither so I could be wrong, but I thought there were certain societies or events that are essentially private members things or invited members and it involves playing dress up in fancy outfits for various events. Many of the people at these things are private individuals, as in not working royals.

Someone more knowledgeable will be along soon I imagine though.

CathyorClaire · 22/03/2023 17:05

Further report here suggests Charles invited him:

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/prince-andrew-worming-his-way-back-into-public-life-party-king-charles/

He's been lobbying to get his smug face centre stage virtually since "that" interview, starting with packing cupcakes for NHS workers during lockdown and we know he's grabbed any TV opportunity however slim or inappropriate to further his cunning plan.

He must still take us for the mugs who'd believe he can't sweat because he's a prince and says so.

The Royal Victorian Order was set up by Queen Victoria (and named it after herself, no less🤣) as a means to recognise service to the monarch. It is I think the only award where the decision as to who gets a medal/rank within it is entirely the decision of the monarch, not the government. So, members of the various ranks of the order include private secretaries, holders of key palace roles like the CFO etc, and long-serving palace staff (“Tall Paul” the late Queen’s footman who walked in her funeral procession, for example, and Angela Kelly have all been made members of the order, along with many others). Plus family members who aren’t made a member of the order of the Garter (which is the higher ranking award, but is pretty much limited to the monarch’s immediate family and not spouses, other than the spouse of the heir). So, Sophie and Kate are members of the Royal Victorian Order, as is Harry too.

Every four years they hold a service at Windsor for people who are members of the Order to attend. So it’s a bit like a regular alumni gathering and drinks, I guess, though with a church service attached. Only the highest ranked awards get an actual robe, as they are akin to a Knight or a Dame - most recipients get a medal they can wear.

Given it’s a private award, and the gathering is a private event, I can see why Prince Andrew’s attendance wasn’t officially noted. Given it was also the first one that has fallen after the Queen’s death, and almost al of the people attending would have received their award because of their service to her, I can see it being a bit of an event of remembrance and reunion of the late Queen.

Novella4 · 22/03/2023 19:01

". Only the highest ranked awards get an actual robe, as they are akin to a Knight or a Dame - most recipients get a medal they can wear."

Utter nonsense

Serenster · 22/03/2023 19:04

Meh. Judges wear robes and wear wigs, with different styles to reflect their appointments. So do barristers. The highest ranks (QCs and KCs) have different robes. University students wear robes when they graduate, and at some universities students wear them for several regular events. many teachers wear robes for school prize givings.Members of the clergy wear robes when at work.

All utter nonsense too?

Novella4 · 22/03/2023 19:17

The Windsors are not qualified for any of those roles

They play ridiculous dress up and fools are impressed

And ... Andrew right back where we alwys knew he'd be .
They are showing who they are . Believe them

Itstimeforlunch707 · 22/03/2023 19:43

Thanks for the explanation Serenster

It does sound like more of a private event. I don't object to long term servants receiving medals and being rewarded for hard work as they are paid so poorly in the first place, as long as there is transparency over who pays for the catering! Is that taken care of privately?

I dislike it when the RF award one another with medals though!

CathyorClaire · 22/03/2023 20:22

I dislike it when the RF award one another with medals though!

Absolutely.

Even more farcical when it comes to the likes of Brooksbank and Mapelli Mozzi parading around in artificial gongs like the Jubilee 'medals'.

704703hey · 22/03/2023 20:56

I suppose that people have always adorned themselves to show their status/wealth throughout history.

It's a bit outdated now though...

AskAwayAgain · 22/03/2023 21:56

It is really bad that Andrew is being allowed back in.

Theunamedcat · 23/03/2023 06:19

So a private party?

AskAwayAgain · 23/03/2023 19:07

It is not a private party. It is an official ceremony.

CathyorClaire · 23/03/2023 21:16

Not a party.

That would be the shooting gig he attended with Anne and Edward earlier this year.

He now has a count of at least 2 x sib support continuing in Mummy's tradition. Maybe even more given Charles apparently invited him to the Victorian Order cloak nonsense.

queentim · 25/03/2023 03:31

Disgusting.

Also hilarious that people suddenly "need proof" from The Sun, when it comes to Andrew. It's in the Court Circular.

He's back in the fold, while other family members are used as a distraction.

CathyorClaire · 14/04/2023 13:55

News reports today that Andrew is being 'brought in from the cold' on the mealy-mouthed excuse of 'healing division'

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/celebrity/prince-andrew-to-be-brought-in-from-the-cold-as-king-mends-divisions-at-coronation/ar-AA19PgOh

Surely not a coincidence when there have been rumblings about him writing his own tell-all.

Even apart from the public being taken for mugs, this just stinks of behind the scenes deals.

Nauseating.

Of course Andrew is being brought back into public life. The family see nothing wrong with a man who rapes a sex trafficked teenager.
