Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

@tatalan we agree on one thing then - I hope they give it a miss as well - Harry is due in court a few days after though

Catonthehearth · 20/03/2023 09:15

michaelmacrae, your post does exactly what you accuse the 'haterz' of doing. Completely unsubstantiated criticism of people you don't know. Calling individuals unlikeable, uncharismatic, spoilt, dry, lazy, pompous, selfish, hypocritical, backstabbing, and obsessed with their own image and popularity - nice. Yet you complain about posters having an opinion about Harry and Meghan.

@milti I'd jet in on the 7th if I were him 😐

More seriously, the trial starts on the 9th, I don't expect he'll be called to the witness stand on the first day.

milti · 20/03/2023 09:16

@tatalan also agree about Andrew - they should get rid of all the Yorks in one fell swoop

Negative comments aren't the end of the world. I will say that I take no notice of sites bombarded with hateful propaganda 24/7. Engagement is currency in today's world and that H&M have in spades, your tabloids are obsessed with them for a reason.

As for the coronation, I hope they give it a miss. The papers will make it all about them though, just like they did with Harry during Philip's memorial. A reporter even claimed Harry's absence was why the Queen chose to be escorted by her [accused rapist] son. Sick.

The royal reporters can't fathom Harry's absence - even the ones that loathe him, Meghan is just a detail apparently. I hope he gives them a shock.

Well said. The media here were poleaxed when they left. So all they can do is make up complete bollocks about H&M.

I admire them for walking away. Best thing they ever did

LaMarschallin · 20/03/2023 09:26

minds are already made up when it comes to H&M. A mumsnet thread changes nothing.

This is certainly true, imo, and goes for
both pro and anti threads.

VixenTodd · 20/03/2023 09:26

My concern is that a lot of Meghan supporters on here have already said they support her because of her ethnic origin which they share or other people in their family share or they want to positively promote. They know she is not nice and can't make most relationships work but they support her for that one reason. That is really off. I could not do it. They lose credibility for it and because they get all ranty every day. The best posters don't post to avoid them.

First I've heard of that theory and I've never said that or heard of that before. Not seen it on MN and I've been on these threads on and off since she met Harry

Stop with 'the truth hurts' bollocks. You are accusing well known posters who've been here decades of being trolls.

Sorry - which 'well known posters' have I accused? I haven't named anyone - I merely commented on some general posting patterns on the Royal board which strike me as uncanny.

i have asked mn hq if troll hunting is now allowed.
the derailing of your own thread to attack other posters that don't have the same views as you is tiresome.
mn hq really need to put a stop to it.

Never once seen that either.

I have seen posters comment that they don’t like her but agree she has been treated horribly with her race a factor.

I gave plenty of examples to back up my opinions in my post. There are many others I can think of to add too, but I have to start work!

That @MNHQ has allowed this thread to stay up at all when the OP has made constant unfounded accusations against other users is telling.

Either they enjoy posters getting wound up over H&M, as recently suggested by Justine, or they agree with spreading the hate and nonsense that follows H&M (that no one likes the pair and anyone who defends them must be a troll / paid / Russian).

Why is that a concern? Surely you realise that there are people who hate her because of her ethnic origin. If it happens the other way round, so be it.

Some examples.

Totally agree. And the OP asks which posters has she accused. None by name of course. Too cowardly for that
But anyone who doesn't revere the RF and loathe H&M is either Russian or paid to post. Or both. That was said in her post this morning.
No, it isn't pondering on 'general posting patterns' it is the above.

tatalan · 20/03/2023 09:48

@VixenTodd this before they were married. For some, the hate came first and the reasons later.

None of that is from Mumsnet, it is all from Twitter. I don't think there are Mumsnet posters who have ever written things like that.

VixenTodd · 20/03/2023 09:51

If there are then please put it up.

I see. Can you please point me to the Mumsnet posts where people have said they support her because of her ethnic origin?

I wouldn't blame them for it either, Meghan was getting death threats before she did things some now claim caused them to dislike her.

So if people want to support her because of her ethnic origin alone, that's fine with me. She was hated her for her ethnic origin alone.

I never claimed people on Mumsnet said those things, I simply showed you examples of people who hated her for her race alone. You were the one that claimed people on Mumsnet supported her because of race - where are the posts?

jeffgoldblum · 20/03/2023 10:04

Can we not have disgusting posts put on here please!
It proves nothing but the things you are reading, I'm critical but those posts are offensive and nothing to do with Mumsnet .
Why even give them oxygen by sharing them .

VixenTodd · 20/03/2023 10:04

Again, I haven't seen those types of comments or threats on here. Why don't you reply directly to those people making the comments in the newspapers/twitter. Whats the point of ranting on Mumsnet when people on Mumsnet clearly say that they don't like what she does or says and don't care where she is from? It's stupid to rant on the wrong platform.

It appears that you have a really strong belief in your own opinion, even when it might not be based in reality. It would be interesting to hear more about why you think that posts on Mumsnet would be on their radar. Mumsnet doesn’t seem like something that would grab their attention. The places you have cited as having negative commentary about the pair are the exact place I would expect this - the commentary is more nuanced in places like the Guardian, Observer, Washington Post and even the Atlantic.

The issue you seem to be coming across here is interacting with more people who don’t share your opinions and the cognitive dissonance that brings when you realise that not everyone shares your worldview. This leads to comments that people are being paid to post or are trolls or are bots which is unfair and unpleasant. It is important to remember that everyone has their own unique perspectives and it’s ok to have different opinions.

VixenTodd · 20/03/2023 10:09

What happens is that whenever Mumsnetters criticise her words and actions, posters like you come along and accuse them of racism because you haven't replied to the awful things you have read on Twitter or in the Daily Mail directly.
I don't have to link it because we have all seen it in buckets.

@VixenTodd you started by saying you were concerned people supported Meghan for her ethnic origins alone, can you point out those posts please?

VixenTodd · 20/03/2023 10:12

By the way, those posts are disgusting, I hope they get reported and taken down. Nobody here agrees with it. Its got nothing to do with what people say on here.
I don't know why you save them to repost out of their context?
