Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

I do have sympathy with people with so much hate in their heart. No need to feel sorry for me, I'm a happy person who doesn't hate

You’ve managed to rustle up some pretty nasty posts in the past about Kate and William

I have not. I don't 'rustle up'. No idea what that means.

I have railed against the institution. Not Kate. Or indeed William. Apart from maybe once saying they should work harder. I don't call that nasty, but I know you make things up. You've done this before. You have form for it.

derxa · 19/03/2023 10:22

Whatever you say, it is costing a lot more. But that money is going into people's pockets. Security, caterers, florists etc.

purpledalmation · 19/03/2023 10:38

@tatalan I think H&M need to keep making money. When you live a millionaires lifestyle and wish to continue it, you need to keep on raking it in. They currently have plenty of money to live a quiet private life out of the public eye, but private jets, haute couture clothing, high profile events, need a continuing revenue source. Meghan is going to relaunch the Tig in an attempt to compete with Goop. A lifestyle blog can be a money spinner. I just wonder where it all fits in with the humanitarian work, as you can't make money from that. I think the pair have realised monetising their victimhood by slagging off the royal family, yet naming their 2 American children prince and princess, is a declining revenue stream, and shouts hypocrisy.

I don't think either of them are particularly talented in any area, so I can see them being reality Tv stars. Good luck to them in that.

Why do you insist on the lie that Meghan is relaunching the Tig? she renews the trademark yearly as part of routine maintenance. The papers did the same last year, I assume they will do the same next year and people will continue to fall for it. Please exercise some critical thinking.

I do think they will keep making money because security is expensive, I don't see it getting cheaper either. They have said they're done with look back projects so I'm really looking forward to what they do next.

purpledalmation · 19/03/2023 10:53

@tatalan I'm so pleased the couple have decided their 'look back' years are over and they can look forward. I just wonder what they can do now to earn the huge amount of money to maintain the lifestyle they have chosen? There is a lot of talk about the relaunch of Tig and I don't understand why you think this is unlikely? Nothing wrong with being an influencer if it makes money. What has critical thinking to do with speculating they will resurrect a revenue stream, when there seems nothing much on the horizon? Pearl was ditched, Netflix don't seem to have anything else lined up yet. Rom Coms? Why M&H when they have superb writers on tap? Just wondering what's next for them?

Catonthehearth · 19/03/2023 10:56

purpledalmation, I would agree about the Tig. I'm sure there are many fans of the couple who'd be happy to spend money on products endorsed by the Duchess of Sussex, with a commission paid to her.

There is a lot of talk about the Tig because the papers create the news, just like Meghan said on Oprah. Nothing wrong with being an influencer but I don't see that in H&Ms future.

Pearl was ditched because Netflix cut all animation projects. Because you seem genuinely concerned, I thought I'd let you know that Heart of Invictus documentary is set to come out this summer. They have other projects in development, I'm sure we'll hear about those soon.

H&M will be fine.

I'm sure it would be profitable. There are people who operate sites making money off commissions for everything she wears - whatmeghanwore, meghanscloset etc

Gwyneth Paltrow makes gazillions out of Goop. A lifestyle brand with slightly less bonkers products would do very well.

Bless Gwyneth but she doesn't look healthy, she's also cruelly mocked for under-eating and rectal ozone therapy type things.

She remains a success, so it works for her.

She's well into her 50s now but look at the pics of the Goop launch, not just the worst one you could find 😆

Ah I see, that screenshot was from her most recent appearance. I've just seeing that she's dealing with COVID. Hopefully she recovers soon.

@tatalan I'm not bothered how they earn their money Tig or Invictus. I do worry though that if Harry wins his current court appeal against the Home Office and has his security returned, as a protected person the American taxpayers will be picking up the bill to protect them. Luckily as they don't have a home in Britain, I won't be paying for them.

Why on earth do you believe American taxpayers will be picking up their security bill? They currently pay for their own private security in the US, never depended on American taxpayers for that. Harry is in court fighting for the right to pay for security IN THE UK. Please do not be misinformed.

That was my understanding too @purpledalmation

purpledalmation · 19/03/2023 12:06

@tatalan It's the way the system works I'm afraid. All VIPs like prime ministers and royals in every country has government security. When they travel abroad the country in question provides the same level of security. The home security team don't usually travel with them. This is a reciprocal agreement they all sign up to. It means the country where the person is visiting (or living) picks up the security cost. It's not refunded by the home country.

So yes, American taxpayers will have to pay the bill if Harry wins his case for security.

Of course when he visits the UK we pay for him.

@purpledalmation but he's not protected in the US, a UK based ruling does not cover America. Where did you get this info from? 😂

It's what IPP stands for , international protected person .

He wants to pay for his own security, IPPs do not have to do that.

purpledalmation · 19/03/2023 13:10

@tatalan irp.fas.org/threat/inman/part09.htm and
www.state.gov/dignitary-protection

You really don't seem to understand this do you? A visiting dignitary is entitled under international law to have security paid by the host country. Harry is fighting the withdrawal of that decision that withdrew his security status. If it is reinstated he will again become a protected person under UK law and that triggers the country he visits, such as the US, to pay for his security as a member of the royal family. He is not a US citizen and is there under a spousal visa, so technically he is not resident. Therefore the american taxpayer (under the above rules) would foot the bill. If you can't understand this, don't bother replying. Go do some research.

He is not protected in the US because he left Royal duties and therefore became a normal citizen who did not warrent security. He is taking the home office to court to have this reinstated.

FWIW. The canadian mounties provided security along with the UK security officers while the couple were in canada. It was withdrawn when they left for the US.

Yes @purpledalmation , I figured that , and couldn't be bothered to explain again, especially as it's been covered at nauseum on other threads!
