Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

@purpledalmation absolutely not, H&M being protected people or otherwise WILL PAY for their own security in America.

VixenTodd · 19/03/2023 13:16

She doesn't get it, bless her.

tatalan · 19/03/2023 13:27

We'll wait and see @purpledalmation

I will say that he's wasting money fighting this, the decision will not be reversed.

Just adding that someone who enters on a spousal visa gets a green card which makes them a legal US resident.

But we don’t actually know what Harry’s visa status is - if he came under an O visa as some have speculated then that’s for living in the US temporarily and you are not considered resident. Although after a certain amount of time I think you can apply to change status to a green card resident with that - at that point you are considered a legal resident.

So that’s quite interesting - as a permanent legal resident (anyone with a green card) IPP status would be the jurisdiction of the USA which would mean that the RAVEC decision would have no impact on what happens in the US - that would be for the US gov to decide.

Exactly, some are desperate for something to be mad about at this point. There is nothing for the US gov to decide either, Harry will continue to pay for private US security as he has always done.

Unless he is still on a temporary / non-immigrant visa in which case he’d still be the UK’s ultimate responsibility.

Although be no longer has a residence in the UK.

But I think he’s still listed as a UK Councillor of State and you have to be domiciled in the UK for that.

Green card holders cannot be domiciled in another country - you lose your green card status for that.

And the tax situation must be horribly complicated!

I'm really curious about his visa/residence status. He is married to a US citizen and employed by an American company, so he's sorted one way or another.

Re the tax, I'm sure he's got expensive accountants dealing with all that.

I doubt there will be a lot of booing; British people are generally too polite(!!!!??), but just in case, I suspect there will be a very large band playing very loudly, and any booing sounds will be editied out of the TV broadcast. There won't be any booing inside the Abbey.
Like anyone else, I would be wary of talking to them about anything (except, maybe the weather), in case it appeared (distorted) on their next Netflix series, and this applies to Royalty and also celebrities, after his comments about magic mushroms at Courtney Cox's house.

I'd be wary too, H&M really should stay home. The fact that Archie's birthday was chosen sends a huge message too, I don't think RF will begrudge Harry choose to celebrate his son's birthday with him.

Bluekerfuffle · 19/03/2023 17:35

According to the much maligned daily mail (on MN anyway, although I have always found it to be accurate and have almost identical articles to all the papers that meet MN approval), their kids could be invited, but only if they confirm they are attending:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11876647/Harry-Meghans-children-Archie-Lilibet-given-role-King-Charless-Coronation.html

It might stop some of the booing if they have their kids in tow.

oh, I don’t know about that. I think a lot of people are fed up with them now.

Indeed. It's a very MN response though isn't it - let's postpone the coronation because of a 4 year old's birthday. Isn't the date down to the government anyway?

The same paper said the children were snubbed a week ago 😂

Why is this a load of nonsense?

So that means his birthday doesn't matter? why should Harry's father come before his first born?

VixenTodd · 19/03/2023 09:29

It is stupid to think that an old institution cares about a dim rebel and a bimbo who are gone and forgotten. Many things influence arrangements.

@VixenTodd a Rebel and bimbo, huh? And what are you? If I said so on social media, it would be deleted!

But, I'm sure you get my drift.

#@!$!....!

I wonder what changed. Anyway someone also briefed said paper that H&M will be broadly ignored and seated in Iceland (metaphor i know), so they may as well give it a miss.

wordler · 19/03/2023 18:11

I don’t see how Lili could take part in the coronation - she’s way too young to sit still for a 90 minute service. Archie maybe - he will just be 4 but may be able to cope but it would be very stressful as he’s not had to deal with huge crowds and formal services before - bit unfair on him to expect to be under such pressure.

Unless they do a full family balcony and let all the kids join like they used to do for Trooping The Colour.

Sentimental nonsense. Lilibet came to the UK when it was her first birthday. I just don't get it. Some parents are away on business on the day of their children's birthdays.

Let's see if Andrew is seated in Iceland or Siberia then?

Bet not. He'll be alongside daughters in front row, betcha

Everyone should be at the Coronation except for Lilibet and they should all be on the balcony. It's time for both sides to grow up.
