The royal family

Should Harry attend the coronation?

I say NO.

Why put himself through it? His family is too cold and not just because of his actions or what has revealed. I think they have always been that way.

Besides, it will also be Archie's birthday.

He'll be there with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet and the Duchess of Sussex.

It's important for the brand that they're all seen as Royals.

Well they are Harry is the monarchs son and his children are the monarchs grandchildrrn which makes them royal

Missuspotatohead · 16/03/2023 19:38

Is that you Meg.

CathyorClaire · 16/03/2023 20:37

I sincerely hope so, yes.

Looking for the reported cold-shouldering dramatics that will ensue and even if they can all contain themselves, the endless body-language analysing will do.

Ya know, many readers and royal family supporters are upset with Harry for what they call trashing the British royal family. But what if everything Harry has said about them and the racism is the truth? Has anyone even considered that? I mean, he should know better than anyone. It IS his family and he grew in it.

Me, personally, I believe everything has said about his family. It's a shame but I was not all surprised either.

He should not attend. It would be extremely hypocritical given his attacks on the institution.

But he turned round and said that they
weren’t racist in his interview with Tom Brady prior to the release of Spare 🤷‍♀️

Viviennemary · 16/03/2023 22:43

No. But he will. Needs fodder for his next moanfest.

Prescottdanni123 · 16/03/2023 23:12

I genuinely don't care. Either way, it will trigger another book/documentary. He will either attend and then make up a load of whingy BS about how badly his family treated him and how they are all horrible. Or he won't attend and then make up a load of whingy BS about how he was banned and his family are all horrible. Either way, I will inevitably be avoiding the news channels/headlines for a fortnight at some point afterwards while he drones on and on and on.

Harry has said conflicting things.

The Coronation is about the UK's constitutional monarchy, not photo opportunities and family battles.

It's not a family event so personally I think he should stay clear. He's not a working royal. But he won't, he wants the spotlight as he's so vain.

Do they all just forget about the UK and don't realise people live here?

Thirdsummerofourdiscontent · 17/03/2023 00:44

No. You don’t get to treat people so very badly then think they should invite you anywhere, that’s beyond weird. That and I’m so sick of their whining about how awful everyone is - not just the family but everyone.

CallieQ · 17/03/2023 00:51

Really... who cares

WeWereInParis · 16/03/2023 15:46

I don't think he shouldn't go if he wants to.
From everything he's said about the RF, the institution and the people (plus the media), I genuinely don't know why he'd want to.

This. Seems hypocritical if he goes, given he hates all the monarchy stands for (and maybe he has a point there)

MrBusiness · 17/03/2023 01:02

I think they will…just to piss everyone off and to keep themselves relevant…I can’t see them not doing it…especially now that the children have styled their titles

Delectable · 17/03/2023 01:20

This is the "hard work" lazy thinkers say the Royals do.

They need fresh fodder.

Are you kidding? H and M's whole USP is "we are royal princes and a princess and a duchess. Frankly, America doesn't provide many social opportunities for princing and princessing.

Of course they're not going to miss the publicity opportunity of a lifetime, to look tragically hard-done-by on global TV with the eyes of the world on them.

A tactic perfected by Diana...

Good point!

michaelmacrae · 17/03/2023 02:16

I don't think he'll come. Charles picked his big day on Archie's birthday, creating a dilemma for them. Perhaps out of spite, who knows. Charles seems petty enough.

It'd be better for them both psychologically if they stay at home and I would worry for their security too. And I bet MM is heartily sick of this family. Plus harry has a court case in May he has to prepare for and the coronavirus will be in the way.

ThePoshUns · 17/03/2023 04:54

Hopefully they do, will make the whole thing a bit more interesting. Will be completely hypocritical of them if they do though after all that Harry has said about how awful life in the RF has been for him.

Riapia · 17/03/2023 06:57

There comes a time when personal feelings must be put aside for the good of the brand.
They’ll be there.

Roussette · 17/03/2023 07:01

So many posters on here, despite saying they should not come, are desperate for them to attend! Come on... be honest, what on earth will you talk about on MN and start threads about if they don't come? You will be absolutely gutted if you can't ban on about hypocrisy, Meghan's grin, her horrible outfit and icy stares from the rest of them. How will you cope? Ahhh... don't tell me, you can say he hates his family because he didn't come and explore that a bit!

Personally, I don't think they should. Not anything to do with what has gone on in the past, but because of the vile media. Or Harry come on his own, that would be ideal situation for me, Meghan can have birthday party for little Archie. They shouldn't be just erased, Harry is the son of the King. So who knows.

And those that say they will be booed on the way in and out... well... those people who are freezing their bollocks off to catch a glimpse of nothing who then boo.. they aren't supporters of the RF then are they? They are quite happy to spoil a once in a lifetime occasion of the Coronation to boo. Pathetic. They ought to watch out too, people might think they are booing Charles, he has had a lot of that lately! I would like to think people would be better behaved

@notanotheroneagain Interesting on Geidt, I had a feeling something like that had gone on.

Bottom line is.. I don't care whether they do or not, but leave them alone if they (or he) does attend.

Indeed many threads were started about Harry and Meghan holding hands at the Queens funeral and how apparently disrespectful it was 🙄
And when it was pointed out Zara and Mike Tindall were also holding hands, that was fine apparently because they arnt Harry and Meghan and posters only rip Harry and Meghan apart

pilates · 17/03/2023 07:22

Just out of interest, are they professional booers? I always wonder why they’re not at work.

I feel sorry for KC. I’m sure deep down he would like H there for his coronation. Sad how it has all turned out really.

Maireas · 17/03/2023 07:29

KC didn't choose the date.
Parliament did.
It's not a family occasion, it's a state occasion. A lot has been claimed by Harry and Meghan, the truth of which is debatable. It would be nice if they went as the start of some sort of rapprochement, it can't be healthy living in that state of resentment and negativity.

Badger1970 · 17/03/2023 07:30

Oh they'll be there. There is absolutely no way that they're going to be left out of the official photographs that will be taken for historical purposes.

I only hope that the RF are putting measures in place to make sure that they're not the centre of attention that they'll no doubt have to be.

Clutterbugsmum · 17/03/2023 07:31

It really doesn't matter because if they do go then the press will go on a rampage of how they shouldn't be there, if they don't go the same press will go on a rampage of how they should be there.

So they are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't.
