The royal family

Do you all find Charles, Camilla, William and Kate boring?

I am genuinely interested, Because every single post I have seen about one of these four ends up getting derailed by Harry and Meghan.
Try it. Post about one of them and within a small number of posts people will be talking about Harry and Meghan. It happens again and again and again.
So do find these 4 really boring then? Or are you just so fascinated about Harry and Meghan you want to talk about them whenever you can?

It is stupid to think that an old institution cares about a dim rebel and a bimbo who are gone and forgotten. Many things influence arrangements.

Roussette · 19/03/2023 10:56

Do you not like women Vixen? Calling anyone a bimbo is horrible. It's very derogatory and does you no favours whatsoever.

purpledalmation · 19/03/2023 10:58

The royal family are very much governed by the protocols which confine them to being non controversial. It must be frustrating for them too.

Could you or could you not start an argument in an empty room?

You are picking arguments with different posters every day.
And breathe 😑

At least I don't go round calling other women vile names.

Happy Mothers Day!

VixenTodd · 19/03/2023 11:12

I never specified who, you decided it yourself.
The person in mind doesn't fit the first definition, I'm going for the second one-

bimbo (ˈbɪmbəʊ)
n, pl -bos or -boes

  1. an attractive but empty-headed young woman
  2. a person, esp a foolish one

The Queen was boring- that's what we liked about her. We rarely even heard her speak. Any speck of info came through the media about her. She was stable, represented security, we felt she was, at heart, 'proper' and decent and loved Britain, especially Scotland. She had tupperware, wore headscarves and tweed skirts with cardis and flat shoes and thick tights when not on duty, liked animals. We watched her life from a distance. We don't want celebby types - we want tweedy, wellie-wearing, countryside-loving, homely, horsey, doggy, British types who like our weather, don't show off, behave and have a reputation for re-cycling stuff like coats and shoes and clothes and whose idea of a holiday is Scotland in the rain or a beach in Norfolk. We like to believe that's what The Queen and Charles are like. We like the never explain never complain- it maintains a bit of mystique.

Boring is good.

We don’t want crass attention seekers.

If you do require beef, you can always watch Eastenders or Love Island.

BeethovenNinth · 20/03/2023 06:04

Yes. I miss the toe sucking

lollipoprainbow · 20/03/2023 06:30

Yes very I have no interest in any of them. At royal events I was only ever interested to see Harry and Meghan. They added a bit of pizzazz to what is a very dull institution.

Adrelaxzz · 10/03/2023 23:43

I hate to admit it but I would judge anyone that liked them as a bit thick.
I would assume that they had been taken in by the media and not realised.

I used to think this once and then realised I was interested and did like them. It’s just I was brought up in a very anti monarchy family. I still feel like I’m doing something faintly distasteful when I read an article about them or follow their posts on social media Blush

namechangeforthisbleep · 20/03/2023 07:03

I wouldn't go out with them for dinner (if I they were the average joe and that was a possibility) because as lovely as they seem they seem boring AF, a bit vanilla which isn't my thing in friends. Like I bet they play chess and shit on a Friday night with a thimble of port

LaMarschallin · 20/03/2023 08:17

Is shitting on a Friday night while clutching a thimble of port some arcane royal tradition?

If so, it’s considerably more interesting than pretty much anything else I’ve ever heard about the current crop.

Kate is so boring that she had a Very Big Important Photo Op Business Meeting about her 'Life's Work' and new swishy hairdo and not one thread has been started on Mn. 😂

Actually I was going to as I was impressed with this latest step in her early years work but what put me off was all the sniping at each other on this thread and how exhausting it is to have the same 3-4 people arguing off topic with each other all the time.

It’s mostly not pleasant posting about positive things in this forum.

Even the posts that start out sincere and non-goady end up being taken over.

FluffyHamster · 21/03/2023 21:42

I don't think they are boring, I think they are very circumspect about how they appear, and rightly so, given the media obsession with them.
The alternative is to be loud and attention-seeking like some B-list celeb, and we all know how that plays out!!

The other thread is just so disgusting and was started by a royal fan, I presume. But it seems their fans prefer to rather bitch about M&H than discuss what any of them are doing. So toxic.

Nanalisa60 · 21/03/2023 22:22

Well call me old fashioned, but I like the royal family to be a bit boring, I want them to smile , shake hands, and listen with interest at what ever function / opening/ visit they are on.

I have had enough of royals washing there dirty lining in public.

But that’s just me old school, grew up with a Queen that never explain never complain so very happy with them being a bit boring.

wordler · 21/03/2023 22:23

Well - it’s not really ‘their’ fans in general on either side. It’s mainly 3-4 specific posters who seem to like winding each other up.

I’m up for reasonable debate and criticism of any of the members and actions of the current and past royal family. But there have been some ridiculous assertions on here for and against M&H and W&K - very very toxic on both sides.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 22/03/2023 06:41

Of course they are dull and boring. The only interesting ones are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

This board is a testament to this.

So many here claim to dislike them, and yet they can't stop obsessing about them, thread after thread, post after post.

It's going to be this way all through Charles's reign, and William's too.

Even poor George will not be talked about when he is King as Mumsnetters in their dotage obsess about Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, justifying their dislike for them because 30 years ago the tabloids said their mother made Kate cry over bridesmaids' dresses at her own wedding.😂

pilates · 22/03/2023 06:58

Hilarious 🙄
