What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

How do you know that? Which 'talent' visa - there are different categories - they also can lead to a greencard, and then the citizenship path is similar.

Lilibet is an automatic US citizen by being born on US soil, Archie isn't yet as far as I know.

Not been seen with them in donkeys. Don’t think they were ever friends as such.

do you have the same ire for Charles and Diana given that William, who will be head of said church when he’s King, wasn’t baptised in one?

I'm pretty certain that there will be at least one private Chapel in Buck Palace - and it will be Anglican

He was baptised in the music room.

So not a chapel.

Tistheseason17 · 08/03/2023 20:28

Only on MN could people get so riled about something that does not actually affect them.
Everyone forgetting "Prince" Andrew.
H&M are a nice distraction to the bigger issues.
Not a royalist, but I'm fed up with the bully boy behaviour. The press feed everything because people love a good judging session... 😒 🙄

Not close enough to invite her to their huge wedding.
Or Archie's christening.

Maybe she was there though.

I wonder if Jessica Mulroney was there? I wonder if that friendship has lasted?

Yes, but the lack of a wedding invite was attributed to the RF leaning on Meghan, wasn't it? Think the niece said that in the Netflix show. Presumably, there's nobody stopping their relationship any more?

But hey, who can blame him, after all they literally hounded his mother off the road and killed her, for a photo.

They literally didn’t

You have saw endless footage of the paparazzi hanging around the Ritz hotel then chasing the car down the street?
Her driver being drunk at the wheel played a part, but I don’t think anyone can deny they were hounded and chased through the streets of Paris, contributing to the crash.

WinnieTheW0rm · 08/03/2023 20:29

H&M are going for the Prince Andrew model of parenting of wanting the accolades for his offspring to support his own ego.
Ann and Edward seem more grounded and less needy of the grand titles for their kids

Yes, I think you might be on to something with that

momtoboys · 08/03/2023 20:30

After this story has died down and MM is not getting the attention she so craves, I predict another child announcement to keep her in the in the public eye. She's getting a little older now, she may not be able to use many more children for attention.

This whole suggestion that Princess was given as a name is actually bonkers. Properly bonkers.

Of course. but we can't say that otherwise what is the point of this thread.

Lilibet is an automatic US citizen by being born on US soil, Archie isn't yet as far as I know.

Archie is an automatic citizen as his mother is. As he was born abroad his parents just needed to file a CRBA (consular report of birth abroad) and then apply for his passport.

As a US citizen he had to enter the US on a US passport - all Americans must enter and leave the USA on their US passports as they like to keep track of them!

The UK doesn't care what you do. I have a dual citizen child so very familiar with all this.

For Lili they can simply apply for a UK passport - UK has no need for you to register a birth abroad.

jeffgoldblum · 08/03/2023 20:32

The British media didn't chase Diana in France , it was the French media , however this is not mentioned and glossed over by Harry and everyone else.

Its been widely reported. I believe it’s the ‘O’ visa. Will all come out in the wash pretty soon as I believe that it has to be renewed soon and it was the same visa nigella was on when she was denied entry to the USA after admitting to taking cocaine in a court case. So even harry will struggle to get round that. The US doesn’t really f about if you have a criminal record or have admitted to taking drugs. You just don’t get in.

Arsewangry · 08/03/2023 20:33

Course she will 🙄🥴

The lack of seatbelt probably determinative

Maybe the first step to cutting them off, which I actually think is a bad idea) is to stop talking about them, stop making programmes about them, stop writing about them, stop doing interviews about them. Then there's nothing for anyone to say.

Yes, I agree. They should just get on and live their life.

The media will never, ever let them do that though. They bring in too much cash for them.

I can find speculation - I can't find any factual reports about Harry's resident status. I don't think that private information would be released to the public. He's just as likely to be on a spousal visa.

Now - People pluck out wild guesses come on here just throw random comments- have you seen the number and frequency of threads on here. They don't need another story. I mean there is nothing at all to suggest this even if she is pregnant. The attention they get is because you can't stop talking about them and wanting to know what they are doing, why and when.

John Lennon managed it despite all his well published drug use/advocacy and his opposition to the Vietnam War - it will not be a problem, of that you can be certain. Another thing we can be certain of is Andrew will never land on US soil.

As did being chased by the paparazzi

Not quite the same as “literally hounded his mother off the road and killed her for a photo” though. And her driver being drunk and Diana not wearing a seat belt were the most important factors . A decent getaway would have had no trouble safely losing the paps.(Henri Paul was a manager at the Ritz, not a professional driver) But we’ve discussed this loads of times over loads of threads.

That’s just more speculation 🤣what makes you think it’s more likely to be a spousal visa? They are q hard to get as in there are a LOT of hoops you have to go through, medical examinations, etc.

saffy9876 · 08/03/2023 20:36

Princess Anne's children wouldn't have automatically received titles because they pass down through the male line, apparently the Queen offered to give them a title and Anne turned it down - but I don't think anyone knows what title she was offering?

MarshaMelrose · 08/03/2023 20:37

Its sort of a bit meh to me that they didn't baptise her in church. At home is all a bit samey. Like it's just a normal day. In a church it feels more religious and mystical, and stands out as a particular day, standing out from the rest.

However, I'm glad she's been baptised. That's the most important thing.

EdithWeston · 08/03/2023 20:37

DappledThings · 08/03/2023 17:35

Not always. I've been to a Baptism on a dodgem car rink. Family with three children who run the fair which every year is blessed by the local rector with a short service and one year they included Baptising the children.

Pretty sure that christenings can be anywhere a priest (possibly after consultation with their bishop) agrees to. Unlike marriage (where secular and church law touch) Christenings are solely up to the church.

And the US churches that are in communion with CofE set their own rules anyhow
