What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

Plus, I haven't read any comments baying for Harry to be disowned

I doubt the anti H&M brigade can read at all tbh. Ignorance oozes from their posts,

So they can write but they can't read? How does that work?

stillavid · 08/03/2023 17:00

I do understand why they want the option of titles. At the end of the day, they will be able to monetise being Prince Archie/Princess Lilibet if they want/need too one day.

Hopefully, they both get great educations and managed to have fulfilling lives and careers without having to resort to that.

Meghan is well educated and bright and I am sure Harry would love his children to just be happy and not in the spotlight.

BeatricePortinari · 08/03/2023 17:01

I think this is a really odd decision for many reasons.

I think though it represents the grandiose self absorption of the parents to choose to impose these grand but meaningless in the USA titles on children. They want to leverage all the prestige they can.

But for the kids in the USA these titles will just be a weird anachronistic burden. A reminder that they have royal connections but a distant broken family.

H&M are going for the Prince Andrew model of parenting of wanting the accolades for his offspring to support his own ego.
Ann and Edward seem more grounded and less needy of the grand titles for their kids.

Marcipex · 08/03/2023 17:02

Very sweet, and she is a princess.

Plenty of people use it for a given name anyway.

NevieSticks · 08/03/2023 17:03

This is going to be like all these random Russian RF members wandering about Europe.

I've been told to drop it so I have, but other better sources are available a click away for those that are interested. It was that bad, an abdicated King actually held talks with the Nazis about taking power if they had ever won and that we could be bombed into submission. I.e. utter traitor to the British State. Like I said, it was covered up as it would have struck an arrow right through the heart of the establishment and the legitimacy of the British Royal Family.

Er, this is the exact opposite of dropping it!

ThePoshUns · 08/03/2023 17:12

Just call me Harry. But call my children Prince and Princess please?
The hypocrisy is off the scale. To quote Mrs Merton
' what is it about the multi billionaire Royal Family that you desperately cling to?'

Thindog · 08/03/2023 17:13

If inherited positions are deemed to be so important as a way to pass on extreme privilege, status and wealth, then surely all Royals should be publicly dna tested. Sort out any cuckoos.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 08/03/2023 17:14

It's no worse than any of the other raging layabouts we call 'The Royal Family' using their titles, and I include the King in that.

Situaciones · 08/03/2023 17:14

I'm not British but I care about Britain a great deal and I wish that it would become a Republic. These charlatans and chancers from Charles down to the minor ones need to have their titles removed and live as ordinary citizens. It's absolutely repugnant that taxpayers are paying 100 million for the upcoming coronation circus. I include H and M and kids in all of this. They're no better than anyone else, so titles are unnecessary.

When will the anti M&H brigade realise you and your opinions don’t matter to ANY of the RF . They will do as they like and manipulate their audience every way they can. YET people will queue for hours in the rain just to see ordinary people walk into their local church. I have an image of the royals creased over in laughter after every walkabout being applauded by the plebs.

jeffgoldblum · 08/03/2023 17:20

People do they same for famous actors and celebrities.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I think it’s hilarious
They’re gaslighting the shit out of the royal family and the media.
good for them

I’m totally anti monarchy. I can also see M & H are a pair of absolute jokers who couldn’t lie straight in bed.

Xenia · 08/03/2023 17:26

So I just checked the episcopal church is Anglican so consistent with Prince Harry's religion and the religion of the first child.
However in the UK I thought C of E baptism except where a child is dying must be in church? Is that not the rule in the USA?

jeffgoldblum · 08/03/2023 17:26

I'm not necessarily into monarchy but I do appreciate the history, the U.K. has a long and interesting history ( yes I know!) , however now it seems that we should feel ashamed of our country and ourselves, why?
Other countries, the US for example are not !
Along with the bad was a lot of good, and part of that is the historical value, all the way back to stone age times .

Princess 😂

It is her birthright, whether people agree with it or not.

I think I have reached peak Mumsnet batshittery - Justine was right some posters re Meghan are simply deranged, shame I don't profit from it like she does though !

It's easy, as a human being and a man Harry loved his mum, his grand mum and now his wife all the rest seems to be spite and speculation.

Priceless.

No idea but I do think it’s odd in the extreme that the ceremony was at their home rather than in a church. Wonder what the parish church is like? Might not be grand enough. In fact I’ve just thought of it and think that’s probably it. Would look low rent compared to Archie’s baptism and as this is all for looks it has been done at home. Still can’t wait to see the pics though.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/03/2023 17:34

If your family were so abusive you would want your children to have nothing to do with them no titles

Well yes, but then we've still have no confirmation of why H&M themselves wanted to be half in/half out of a family they allege this about either, especially when it was said to have nearly driven Meghan to suicide

Funny how their more loyal fans never comment on this - unless (like the childrens' titles) the reason is all too obvious?

Not always. I've been to a Baptism on a dodgem car rink. Family with three children who run the fair which every year is blessed by the local rector with a short service and one year they included Baptising the children.

IcedPurple · 08/03/2023 17:36

I won't go there

And yet you do. Without taking a breath. Link to The S*n and all. Classy.

I get that these are desperate days when the bloke you've been holding up as some sort of republican hero shows himself, not for the first time, to be more royalist than all the 'royalists' you rail against. But any of us supposed 'royalists' could have told you that 3 years ago. It was always obvious to those who weren't too blind to see.

Harry absolutely loves the monarchy. His only issue is that he will never be its head.
