Will Harry and Meghan come to Coronation?

I do not think they will. They will stay away but all anyone will talk about is why they did not come and should they have come.

@EdithWeston On what planet is The Sun a supporter of Harry and Meghan? They published the first story and publish stories all the time supportive of Charles, William and Kate and slagging off Harry and ,Meghan. No wonder you cant post a link for your claim.

I would also like to point to People magazine, often used by the Sussexes to plant stories, like the “Five Friends”. And Princess Lilibet’s christening story, which the palace press team had no knowledge about and so didn’t even have a lions to take when asked by reporters if it was true that the Sussexes were now styling their children with those titles.

And the fact that there was a story in People several weeks before the Sussexes announced they were leaving (well before Harry emailed his Dad with their thoughts), from “insiders” saying the couple were eager to escape the intense tabloid scrutiny in the U.K. — maybe even by establishing a second “base” in the U.S or Canada. They reported that the family would undoubtedly go to Meghan’s hometown of Los Angeles, and that the couple could spend some time in Canada. Right on the money, weren’t they!

Look at the stories - look at the sourcing

The Telegraph (which was only minutes behind The Sun) used the phrase "a friend of the Sussexes"

Scobie was directly quoted by many outlets

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/03/2023 16:41

The day the British press got hold of the stary about Frogmore, it was sourced initially to "close to the Sussexes" and later in the day that proved to be Scobie. There had been nothing leaked before the day the Sussexes chose to make it public, and they said that discussions had been going on for some time

Don't spoil it Edith Wink Like H&M the palace leak when it suits, but it doesn't follow that every single story's the result of one of theirs - and in this case, as you say, it appears to be quite the reverse

Blip · 10/03/2023 19:50

H&M constantly attack the monarchy.
They have no place at the coronation and if they do come I expect they will be booed in public which I think they deserve.
I think they have pretty successfully undermined King Charles to date.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 19:51

I don't think they'll be booed. Hopefully the public will have decorum.

Blip · 10/03/2023 19:55

Hopefully the public will feel free to express their feelings

So... you want the Coronation spoilt with booing? And all the negative press that engenders?

Rightio!

WinnieTheW0rm · 10/03/2023 19:57

I hope they won't be booed.

I think there's a risk of sniggering though, if they go walkabout

Is there a walkabout after a Coronation? We don't know I suppose given the last one was 70 years ago!

I hope not too.

No - carriages back to the Palace, then Balcony

But there will be other events over the weekend, and I expect various royals will attend various of them and go for a wander to meet the crowds

Blip · 10/03/2023 20:05

If Harry is booed at the coronation that would in no way spoil it for me

What a surprise! You wquld be revelling in it, even if it spoilt the coronation and garnered headlines!

As I said it wouldn't spoil the coronation

Also it would not spoil it if they stayed in California

AnnieGetYourWaterPistol · 10/03/2023 20:16

@Serenster There have been stories that Harry wanted to leave the Monarchy before he met Meghan.

The booing so far has followed the King and his Consort, unprecedented in modern times, and big things are being planned for Coronation Day . The protests seem to be a mixture of intelligent Republicans who distance themselves from the conspiracy, David Icke, Anti-vax - Windsor's are satanists nutjobs. When you add in the usual leftist rent-a-mob and a bank holiday weekend, it could get "sketchy".

Charles and Camilla might be booed. It has happened to Chuck at recent walkabouts, he'd better watch out and have a few muzzles at the ready via his minders.

If only dear King Chuck had kept his promise of a curtailed coronation, slimmed down, cheaper, low key and all the rest of it. Maybe just a photo op on the balcony etc. But no, the circus is becoming bigger than an elephant and that will bring its own issues publicity and gossip wise.

But look, the whole coronation will either be about H and M if they are there, and speculation about them if they are not. Poor C+C will fade into the background in their ermine and pearls, gold coach and massive diamonds, oh and the oil, forgot that, presumably it is organic.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 20:28

@PillBoxes

You've nailed it here. I'm jaded. I can't put into words what I think. But you've managed it

Serenster · 10/03/2023 20:32

Last time I checked, the 1970s counted as modern times, and the Queen got booed and egged then. And we’ve discussed several times the strong anti-monarchy sentiment in the 1990s. Doesn’t fit you narrative, though.

WinnieTheW0rm · 10/03/2023 20:33

Well he's cut the duration from 3 hours to 90 mins, and the guest list from 8000 to 2000.

Plus carriages there and back and balcony. Then next day a concert at Windsor (tickets via charities KC&QC are associated with or by public ballot) plus beacons. Then on Sunday a Big Lunch (something that's held annually anyhow)

Blip · 10/03/2023 20:34

Well it will be interesting to see exactly who is booed.

And anyone trying to defend H&M would surely be jaded at this point.
Tyler Perry is probably appreciated as an ally with his gospel choir flown in by private jet. People who devote seemingly 10% of their waking hours countering everything they see as negative on mumsnet probs not so much.

vera99 · 10/03/2023 20:34

At Kate and William's wedding, there were dawn raids to keep the usual suspects out of action for the day and prevent any unnecessary upsets.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 19:51

Does that include the intelligent Republicans that were being promised, though? 😀
