Not a general fan of the RF, but the Princess Royal, Zara and Mike seem OK. Just get on with it and aren't stuffy.

I also quite liked Princess Margaret and felt a bit sorry for her. Zero time for rest of them.

William and Kate

I’m not a royalist but I do like Anne. Anyone that fond of horses and dogs get the thumbs up from me.

Prince Philip

Someone mentioned Prince William of Gloucester upthread, he was incredibly handsome, intelligent, adventurous and kind and died so young.

He wasn't allowed to marry his love, a divorced American (!) with children. She sounded very intelligent and skilled as well, also a pilot like William. So that's who Prince William is named after.

I think QE I and QE II were both in their own ways masters of the art of compromise / discretion which helped . Of the current crop I think Anne is the best Queen we will never have.

Meghan and Harry! They are like a mix of let them eat cake and The Capital. Outrageous behaviour. Drug abuse. Spending more than a small country.

They are peak royal, the likes of which we haven’t seen for hundreds of years. The rest are so boring, pretending to be just like us. Haha, why do I care about sensible dinners and wearing supermarket clothes? We see that on the school run.

Stolen from another thread but too good not to use here:

It's like a contest to find the most fragrant goat...

😂😂😂

I like the queen mum too! Also Wallis Simpson. what’s the point if there’s no scandal? The olden day royals knew how to entertain! I want more Brighton Pavilion less cream sofas with tasteful throw pillows

TypicalTypo · 06/03/2023 10:15

Also Fergie, she’s fucking bonkers 😂

Yeah he’s a good shout.
I’ve only heard good stuff about it and he seemed fun too.
Wonder what would have happened if he had lived a bit longer.

GloomyDarkness · 06/03/2023 15:18

Elizabeth I, Charles II and George VI.

It wasn't certain they'd get the throne and frankly may have had mixed feeling about it- they had political unrest to contend with, difficult family relations, and yet managed to pull the country together in vastly different ways.

MarkWithaC · 06/03/2023 15:29

Elizabeth I. As a child, endured almost unimaginable psychological pressure (horrific loss of her mother, religious turmoil, exile, constantly in fear of being used as a religious pawn and ending up like said mother).
As queen, dealt with more intrigue, back-stabbing, plotting etc. Understood image/make-up/clothes/jewellery like a pro. Ingeniously spun her 'virginity' as a positive.

Of the current lot, I agree with icefishing about Anne. Straight talking, and you always hear that she works harder than any of the others.

Isn't she just!! Proper eccentric! I saw her doing some hilarious stuff on you tube, dressed as a fairy reading some random.kida book! Gotta love her!

HamBone · 06/03/2023 23:33

Edward VII would have been fun to know, he seemed to enjoy life and would probably be a good laugh.
