Oh dear.
This is all going down like a lead balloon. Stories in American media are along the lines of "Harry and Meghan evicted for disgraced Andrew."
The hashtag KingCharlesTheCruel is trending yet again on Twitter.
A "Royal Correspondent" on GBNews, of all places, expressed concern that this was a bad look for Charles, a view she said was shared by "Royal Correspondents" in their WhatsApp group who believe this is really bad PR for Charles.
Charles and his advisors should have just cancelled the lease without linking the premises to Andrew. But these are not people who operate transparently, they rely on the media to do their propaganda, but even the fervent monarchists are finding it hard to spin "King evicts son and grandkids for disgraced brother."
And if all of this, as stated by Rebecca English, is to enable William and Kate to have a SIXTH royal residence, then buckle up Buttercup, it's going to be a bumpy ride. (Ephraim Hardcastle had a rather cutting piece this morning about W and K's current five residences.)
Is it a soap, is it an opera, no it's the Windsors!
