The average actor earns 9k a year from acting work. Any actor that can live off acting/ advertising/ modelling work without bar or call centre jobs is doing well. She was a successful actress, not A list but not many are.

I move in some performing/thespian circles and I can assure you the actors would all love to be as much of a failure as she was before she met Harry.

Come on. You don't have to like her, you can criticise what she does, you can even think she's a crap actress (though you'd be wrong)...but stop pretending she didn't have a successful acting career before Harry. It's arrant nonsense.

Suits was the second rated show behind only game of thrones. Having a regular part in the show was a good acting gig. It would be like having a regular part in Happy Valley or Downtown Abbey. It is a big deal as an actor to have regular work in a highly rated drama series.
People criticise because she was not a Hollywood A Lister. But only about 20-30 actors are A listers at any one time. Not being an A lister does not mean you are an unsuccessful actor. And to pretend it does just looks like you either do not understand acting, or you are just being mean,

Absolutely she had a successful acting career and yes, meghan definitely has a natural charisma/'star power' but people argue as to how much of a star she was.

She wasn't a list, or near a list, and that's not a bad thing. It's not one or the other either...She was a moderately successful actress with massive charisma, beautiful, sharp and business-minded. All impressive qualities.

Still a career, what else is there to say 😅

Like so many other people, you're criticising the actress when you should be criticising the writer/director. But attractive young women are a much nicer target, aren't they?

Her character in Suits was known for a well developed arc. It's not everyone's thing and that's fine, but it was acclaimed, popular and long running.

Go and ask the average actor if they'd take a lead role in a show with Suits' ratings and reviews and if they'd think it somehow demeaned them.

@VixenTodd Yes Meghan had bit non speaking parts as well. You know that is usual? Unless you already have contacts, usually through nepotism, most people start with tiny parts and build up. It is the career equivalent of starting at an entry level job or graduate training scheme and working up.

But there is a strange sort of judgement among the aristocracy against people who earn their own money. Inheriting money through an accident of birth is somehow seen as better than working for a living. Very strange.

Brad Pitt's first job was dressing as a giant chicken to attract people into a fried chicken restaurant.

All actors start off with some crap parts. Most jobs do.

There's also a weird idea that acting is somehow a lower form of work. If you're a Hollywood A lister or an established Shakespearean stage actor you get a pass, but be a regular on a successful TV show? For some reason, that's not dignified.

Thinking back to Diana's purity qualifications, how times have changed.

And some A listers or close enough to A list have gone on to stop doing movies and go into theatre or star in successful Tv shows on netflix etc.

I think its silly to niche yourself into only doing big movies and being an A list. You won't be an A list forever.

How dare anyone take the work available to them while starting out in one of the most competitive and cutthroat industries on earth?

Yeah much worse than Andrew raping a sex trafficked girl or a man in his thirties marrying a naive 19 year old woman he did not love and was intending to cheat on with a long term lover.

My father (high list actor) landed a majorly big acting job as a teenager and never looked back. As one would expect, he was drop dead gorgeous at a time when there wasn't a lot of 'help' available. He had the skills, bone structure, height, silhouette, hair, charm, intelligence, charisma - a total heart throb who still has legions of fans around the world.

There are still actors and actresses born every day who basically roll out of bed with the full package. Despite what the MN fans wish to argue, Meghan was never one of them. She works very hard on cultivating star appeal and throwing a lot of money at improving her appearance. She chooses well to get ahead.

I suspect the late Queen and the senior Royals are aware of many things that are not yet in the open. Give it time.......

Kate born into a wealthy family stuck her bum out of the window at school - did Art History at University hung like a limpet onto William - waited and waited whilst he played away, got married had kids and went on a permanent diet and did as little as possible whilst plastering on fake smiles for the few engagements she could be bothered with. Even called Dolittle by her husband to boot.

The permanent diet makes her look too thin.
Meghan is probably on a stricter diet. She cannot even carry an extra 10lbs without looking big because of her height and body shape.
