What do you think?

I'm not surprised. I wonder if Harry and Meghan will buy a new UK residence.

Yes, the article was published in June 2021 and says they paid rent through March 2022.

The source said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have paid £2.4 million, which covers the rental income in 2020/21, rental income in 2021/22... So all of the payments are reflected in the accounts.”

The large sum also appears to cover a 22-month rental period - from June 2020 until March 2022 when the couple's annual licence to occupy their private UK home is up for renewal.

So Charles doesn’t owe them any prepaid rent, their current annual lease is expiring and Charles has chosen not to renew it. Presumably they sublet to Eugenie when her family lived there-or perhaps they (M&H) decided to break the lease then anyway?

The reason it's called the Windsor Framework is because Sunak wanted the deal to come with a nice shiny Royal Family patina on it. Something for the DUP to fap off to, and hopefully get them to stop throwing their toys out of the pram and holding the people of NI to ransom because they won't power-share with Fenians.

I agree with every word @Nimbostratus100 has posted.

I had no idea it was called the Windsor Framework.
I do not think the Queen would have stood for that.

HamBone · 01/03/2023 16:53

@Puzzledandpissedoff I hesitate to call that publication a reliable source, but the prepaid rent timeline is clearly spelt out in the article…it may not be accurate, of course. 😂

Yeah, 'eviction' is just a clickbait Sun/DM article.

It is true and click bait. H@M have been evicted but this notice happened a month ago and the story is only now being reported to drive the H&M media frenzy now that they have been unable to find anything really new to report.

That sounds about right.

Ach, they all knew there was going to be a game of musical houses once the Queen passed....

There are also the Queen Mothers properties in there too which need some redistribution.

And they need to think about George & siblings in a few years....

weightymatters73 · 01/03/2023 16:58

oh and I imagine William will be allocated a bigger property too... If Andrew is moving on I'd imagine that will be for William.

I hesitate to call that publication a reliable source

Neither would I, HamBone Wink but yes it's a fair stab at dragging out a few figures - even though the result poses more questions than it answers

It also reminds us of the massive uplift in the Sovereign Grant, supposedly to pay for palace renovations, though I see that even then they claim to have spent more than was received
So I'm even more intrigued to see whether it'll be reduced again once the work's completed - except that the grant was drawn up in such a way that it could never go down

Hmmmm ...

HouseHistoryHunter · 01/03/2023 17:01

It does seem like all the Queen's properties have gone to Charles and all the PoW properties have stayed with Charles. His slimming down plans seem to apply to everything but his wallet and his property portfolio!

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 17:03

@HouseHistoryHunter Yes his slimming down just means everyone else gets less.

It better! I have the date in my diary, 2027. It went up by a massive amount primarily for BP so when the work is completed, it would be sacrilege if it didn't go down to normal levels (whatever normal is)

Married 32 years here. Charles and Camilla do not do PDAs, but you can see they are in love.

We are all happy when the gin goggles cut in ...

Damn, missed that one - deep in twitter doing 'research'...

OP a hat tip to you for following the Daily Mail style book and putting EVICTED in CAPITALS ! Btw it does annoy me when thread titles have typos or inappropriate capitalisation (or lack of it). 😁

It won't. It will stay as high but Charles will streamline the monarchy by cutting the amount of work they do.

tatalan · 01/03/2023 17:15

So do we think H&M got an actual eviction letter? I wonder how long it was...

Well based on the thread you posted and that title surely you would know more than us. After all you cannot evict someone without a formal letter like us mere mortals would get.

"Windsor" is not just a place name, don't be daft -

In this instance it is
Don't be daft.

Howsimplywonderful · 01/03/2023 17:30

I think they got the letter 3 days before it was sent

of course it isn't.

Nobody has chosen that name accidently - it is a deliberate and provocative choice
