What do you think?

I'm not surprised. I wonder if Harry and Meghan will buy a new UK residence.

@derxa I know you keep saying they are very close, but they never look it. Any interaction always looks awkward and even staged. And there have been various occasions where one has batted the other way.

I’ve just got back from Specsavers. Maybe you need to go there 😂

Who is to say we are all wildly speculating here based on rumour, gossip and gut instinct. But what we do have as source material is 'Spare' as much as some hate that salient point, and Camilla doesn't come out well with her alleged treatment of William, Harry and their spouses. Blood is thicker than water, and I wouldn't put it past her to lobby on her children's behalf and give them some Royal status and trophies. She is 'Queen' after all and seemingly without the consort. After a death can bring out all sorts of unseemly behaviour as squabbles break out over the assets. The Royal Family are probably no different from many others, if not worse.

Who knows... but Charles did set up Trusts for Camilla's children and this was before he married Camilla. Just seems odd, given the circumstances, and given the Parker-Bowles were not short of a bob or two.

mumda · 01/03/2023 16:11

Evicted. Literally. Bailiffs and everything.

I've been married for over 35 years and DH and I are very close but you might never understand this if you saw us together in public. PDAs are not always a sign of love.

I don't think Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes are are interested in being royal at all.

But they were quite happy to take the trust funds Charles set up for them, before he married their mother.

The interest alone on these trusts paid out about £60,000 a year. They wouldn't want the scrutiny of being royal, I agree with that.

derxa · 01/03/2023 16:01

I totally agree. They are very close as evidenced by their behaviour during recent engagements. I'm honestly sick of this speculation. Kate and William are happy together as are Harry and Meghan. Why do people want the break of two marriages which involve small children? Please stop.

so agree. just seen some snaps of them together and they look very happy(IMO H&M do too)

I agree with that. We look like a couple of miserable old farts when we're out and about, and similar time married to you!

Charles never seems that bothered about his kids. He cares about William as the Heir, that is it.
And he cares very much about Camilla. So if Camilla asked him to establish the trusts for her children before she would marry him, he would do.

Married 32 years here. Charles and Camilla do not do PDAs, but you can see they are in love.

😆I think we can beat you on the miserable old fart look. DH has a particularly strong bitchy resting face

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 16:21

And my DH and I do not look like miserable old farts. We rarely do PDAs either, but people have said to us how happy we seem together. But then we enjoy being with each other instead of looking miserable in each others company.

That made me laugh, ditto DH here. Even I ... after decades... still ask 'what's the matter?' imagining something is wrong.
Nothing says he Grin

@Delectable that still doesn't mean they should get anything back

We're not miserable! Been married 37 years, couldn't have coped being fed up that long. We just don't do anything that would lead people to imagine we're as happy as Larry!

Heard 5 years a while back - when it was first announced they paid the reno back, let me try and find it.

Omid Scobie on twitter is saying the lease had been lengthened and the Sussex had paid the rent in advance

And he'd know would he? Hmm
In any case why would anyone pay rent in advance - unless it's all part and parcel of the "renovation payback" story?

@Maireas No, it's been in many news papers that Charles has been involved in the NI 'deal' that Sunak is promoting so heavily. I assumed the 'Windsor' part of the 'Windsor Framework' was because of this, rather than where it was signed. If it is mere co-incidence as you suggest then it cannot have escaped RS & Charles himself that it makes it appear that Royalty Approves. The Queen tried hard to (officially at least) remain above politics, largelly successfully. Charles has a long history of interfering (the 'green ink' letters) & it is not a good development.

Like @Nimbostratus100 I don't give a fig who lives where / bonks who(m)/ wears which tiara. But I DO care that the power of the Monarchy is still threaded heavily through British Society & that they don't pay taxes & do shelter perverts (hence why I clicked on this thread as I do care that Andrew is given a place to live when (imvho obvs) he should be doing time at HMP.

The reason it's called the Windsor Framework is because Sunak wanted the deal to come with a nice shiny Royal Family patina on it. Something for the DUP to fap off to, and hopefully get them to stop throwing their toys out of the pram and holding the people of NI to ransom because they won't power-share with Fenians.

I agree with every word @Nimbostratus100 has posted.

A lot of false statements on here....

H&M paid £2.4M for renovations after they left the RF, not before. And yes it is true, it has been fully accounted for within the Sovereign Grant accounts, before anyone comes on here saying it hasn't happened. Bearing in mind the property desperately needed renovation structurally, I think the RF got a good deal there.

Edward & Sophie live on Bagshot park, it is 120 rooms.

Andrew and his ex can easily afford Royal Lodge (98 acres, 30 rooms) as he only pays rent of £250 a week! You wouldn't get a flat in Barking for that. Ridiculous. I think Charles is pushing for him to pay upkeep of the estate, which might be a struggle for him. As I understand it, he is refusing to leave. Course he is... he needs to gallop round the land on his horses and his ex wife loves being filmed in regal costumes for promo of her Mills & Boon books on the estate.

I imagine this is a made up story, the DM are desperate for something/anything about H&M as clickbait, their print readship fell below 800,000 for the first time ever recently.

@Roussette But if Andrew isn’t paying for the renovations, maybe he should be downsizing? And if Harry and Meghan paid back the renovation costs after leaving that can only be a good thing. But I’m sure it’s not really and eviction. It was probably a mutual agreement.

Yeah, 'eviction' is just a clickbait Sun/DM article.

milti · 01/03/2023 16:46

No - because they have been served an eviction notice - all being done formally

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/03/2023 16:49

Rent was included in the renovation payback

I know, Lizzie, or at least I know that's what we were told
It's why I queried whether the alleged payback of the renovation costs was really just a PR fudge, but I realise that - as with most things about royal finances - we'll probably never know the truth
