What do you think?

I'm not surprised. I wonder if Harry and Meghan will buy a new UK residence.

I’d also note that Neville Chamberlain wanting to wave his “peace in our time” pact to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with George VI and Queen Elizabeth was also criticised at the time for being too political though obviously the threat of war was (and remained!) huge. That’s part of the Royal’s role though - meeting who the government wants them to meet in their position as ahead of State and not getting a say in it.

Harry and Meghan were offered grander residences and turned them down.
Eugenie and Jack were living in Frogmore until November 2022, so it has only recently become unoccupied.

They were evicted.

They're not still living there, are they? And they haven't for over 2 years! They chose to move out to move to the States, they have not been evicted from a property they still occupy.

They are not homeless.

And I still think you're bonkers to think we should refund them.

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 13:11

It does mean they will not have security if they come back to Britain.
This means there is no way Harry is coming back for the Coronation.

They were offered York Cottage and said no. They said they wanted something smaller. York Cottage is a mansion.

Howsimplywonderful · 01/03/2023 13:14

They rented a house close to soho farmhouse even when they had a royal residence so I don’t think they want to spend time in Windsor.

I would imagine if they came for the Coronation, they would be able to stay in one of the Royal Palaces in London. More convenient than Windsor and security taken care of. They don’t need a whole house to themselves for an overnight visit (which is probably all it would be)

No ... Princess Michael of Kent just wore a blackamoor brooch when meeting Meghan for the first time. And she is fond of telling pesky brown people to go back to the colonies. It is hard to establish how many engagements they actually do, despite looking on the CC.

I actually think it's a good thing to happen, I am in agreement with you, there's plenty of places they can stay if they come back. However, I do think it's a bit of a PR exercise... "look what I'm doing, I'm going to boot Andrew out to Frogmore" when it fact it won't happen.

I truly do not see Harry attending the coronation.

More than one night, I expect. But yes, I'm sure they could crash at his dad's place.

Nor me. If it were to happen, it would just be him and a flying visit.

ScribblingPixie · 01/03/2023 13:20

It doesn't mean they won't have security if they come back. It means they will have to cultivate good relationships with their family if they want to stay within the protected environment of Windsor when they visit. They will be guests and there will be no entitlement, and their presence can be controlled. I think it's very sensible given their book, interviews, statements etc.

AmandaJonah · 01/03/2023 13:21

Why would they crash at their dad's place when he has been so hostile towards them?
Also Charles has not invited them to stay. He has not even officially invited them to the Coronation, just told the press he would like Harry to come but assumes Meghan will not because it is Archie's birthday.
I would not attend if I was Harry.

That would be worse IMO. They either come together or not at all.

I think you are right actually. This is usual in dysfunctional families. They want to control Harry.
I think he will just respond by going no thanks.

Who's that meant to be a picture of? It's not H&M surely. It looks like William and someone else

I'm inclined to agree. Given they didn't put a foot wrong at the Queen's funeral, and still on here and in the media just breathing was enough to send everyone in to a frenzy... why would they want that
