My friend just sent me this. I adore Gabor mate and the work he does. His book 'in the realms of hungry ghosts' was life changing for me who had suffered serious addiction issues. But am I being too harsh to feel disappointed he's jumping on this band wagon of garbage. I'm sorry but Harry we're sick of listening to your trauma and no offence you've sung it to death, (and I don't even think it's that bad relative to how much he has gone on and on about it) and trauma aside you're a complete hypocrite with how you've treated you're family and the trauma you've put them through!!

Talking about drugs for a moment, I've never understood how many people fail to acknowledge or mention that tobacco is used in joints! .
As an ex smoker I used to be berated and shamed for smoking, however people smoking weed is somehow ok?
I've never understood how it's never mentioned or acknowledged?
Does anyone know why?

Im not trying to make 2 wrongs make a right. I’m not advocating for marijuana or any drugs here. But alcohol has to be addressed alongside other drugs. It never will be - people don’t want to give it up and it’s big business too. Available in pubs and bottle shops restaurants cafes etc near us all. It just doesn’t get the recognition or censure that other drugs do. If people want to criticise Harry smoking weed then they should make sure they don’t indulge in alcohol in front of their children, at least, before pointing the finger.

More power to you for responding to my post on alcohol.

Again you are correct, but I suppose the point posters are trying to make here is that Harry is going on to a world platform and claiming that a drug which is known to have differing side effects on different people, including paranoia and psychosis has helped him. Who’s to say Harry doesn’t drink alcohol in front of his kids too? He certainly used to like a drink 🤷‍♀️

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 11:45

You were obviously smoking the bad tobacco. It’s good tobacco in joints 🤣
it reminds me of the satirical show ‘brass eye’ which would make statements like that.

Seriously though self medicating whether it’s alcohol or drugs is bad. it’s not about the legality, it’s the volume, intensity and frequency

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 12:00

Ahh @Howsimplywonderful , you must be right! 🤣
Just musing really, had a very health conscious friend who always sniffed at me smoking, she smoked weed but apparently that's different, when I asked how was meet with silence!

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 12:00

Sorry ' met '

Exactly

most people don’t have Harry’s wealth, adhd needs medication and therapy for the best success rates. Often times they are only getting the medication. It also needs a proper diagnosis, not from reading a book

i’m lucky that I can afford to pay for everything privately psychiatrist but also play therapy, OT, SLT, further therapies are down the road but not everyone has the resources, I’m very lucky.

I’ve given up my job so I can scaffold my kids, I’m on school boards, creche boards with a special focus on SEN and inclusivity as my daughters teacher told me ‘we all have a bit of adhd’ and I’ve had to encounter a lot of ignorance Boys and girls with adhd often behave differently boys can act up while girls look out the window but only boys get the movement breaks to help kickstart their concentration.

I’m fighting for understanding so having that chat on TV infuriated me, and the laughing emojis made me furious.

It’s not just weed though with him.

It’s the ayahuasca. He talks about it like there are no downsides. Only positive things can come from it.
Ive never heard an alcoholic talk like that (although I’m sure there may be some!)

So what about when his kids are older, is he going to take them along on his magical journeys of discovery?

Will they be holding family ceremonies of enlightenment?

How can he advocate to his kids not to take drugs, if it’s all so powerful and great and healing? And if he doesn’t advocate that to them, is that an inherent problem?

If this was Harry down the road, he’d probably have social services round

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 12:25

That sounds really good @Howsimplywonderful ! , both my children are sen and your right girls behave much differently! , I had terrible trouble getting any professional to help my daughter as she , sort of mimics behaviour around so it wasn't obvious, my sons behaviour was obvious so a plan was implemented straight away .
One of my worries is dd is very easily suggestible, it's ok now but when she's older a celebrity on tv saying what Harry did about drugs would definitely worry me!

Plitvice · 07/03/2023 12:32

He is not doing ayahuasca with a reputable practitioner. No responsible ayahuasca facility would allow him to do it in his current state. It would be beyond physically and mentally tough and even counterproductive for such an individual. I understand why he has lost so much weight recently. He will have been shitting and vomiting bucketloads at those ceremonies.

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 12:34

@Plitvice , I would like to say , you were right by the way !
You posted about Harry using this ages ago and was roundly attacked and told you were wrong .
Others seem to have forgotten.

Is this why it’s socially acceptable in Hollywood circles? Because it keeps them thin?

🙏People who routinely use all those substances were a big part of my life so the warning signs are familiar. I still believe he got preferential treatment as a prince (as usual).
Usually, when people in that state turn up to the ceremonies, they are rapidly kicked out because "Mother Ayahuasca does not choose them" There are a few fatalities every year.

purpledalmation · 07/03/2023 12:45

@Roussette I didn't say you said he should continue his drug use, be he clearly is continuing it. He needs to stop. He may end up losing his American visa, and we'd be forced to take him back...noooooooo

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 12:48

My daughter never received any help. Because she’s smart (some IQ scores on 98th percentile when tested while others were much lower - classic adhd ) she was left to herself. She was told by one teacher to look out the window (she’d read the whole year books in the first week) I would have removed her but she loved her friends.

we used sports rowing 6 times a week and previously swimming 4 times a week to give her the outlet she needs But she had to make the decisions more now which is harder

purpledalmation · 07/03/2023 12:49

@Morestrangethings The police don't arrest you for drinking under normal conditions, but they do for drug taking. Harry is in a tricky situation re his American visa which could be revoked.

I suppose because you don't smoke 20 joints a day (at least I hope not!) every day, so the amount of actual tobacco is far less.

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 12:52

@purpledalmation

there is a big difference between filtered cigarettes and non filtered joints, or do they have filters in them these days ?

My daughter is doing well now and at a normal school,( hard to believe now!) .
My younger son is autistic and stims a lot so is at a different school ( which is hard to explain, he wants to be with his sister) .
But he's amazing, he taught himself to read and write when he was 5, now he knows Hebrew and other languages I don't recognise! , medical knowledge that's dumbfounding! .
I could go on and on ! , but has difficulties with toilets and needs me constantly.
It's very frustrating.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 07/03/2023 13:00

I think research has shown that in terms of lung damage, 3 joints is about the equivalent of 20 cigarettes, partly because of how they're smoked and partly because of the composition of the smoke.

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 13:01

@purpledalmation , you could be right , however I've seen some People practically chain smoking joints! .
And yes filtered cigarettes are better than not , most joints seem to have either no filter or a folded rizla packet as a filter.
( disclaimer! , I'm not endorsing or have ever been a drug user, however had some dodgy friends in the past!)

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 13:02

@jeffgoldblum

That’s brilliant for your daughter and your son sounds lovely. how old is your daughter. I can’t believe he’s taught himself Hebrew. That’s amazing. Sometimes kids get so caught up with their minds, they can forget toilets and eating and sleeping

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 13:06

@Howsimplywonderful , thanks 😊, my daughter is 12 now and my son is 9 !
I thought it was scribles on paper but at his special nursery a lady there was Greek and recognised it then checked! , he's strangely into very vague and unfamiliar languages! 🤣

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 13:07

I'm sure your daughter has got some unique talents too @Howsimplywonderful !

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 13:11

Thats so amazing, he must have amazing visual and comprehension skills to do that.

My daughter is very into animals (the stuff she knows 🤯) she has dogs, cats, fish and the latest is ‘fancy mice’ and I realised was using mg Facebook account to dispense advice about cage sizes, illness, bedding options, toys and group animal behaviour to people on various private groups 🤣
