My friend just sent me this. I adore Gabor mate and the work he does. His book 'in the realms of hungry ghosts' was life changing for me who had suffered serious addiction issues. But am I being too harsh to feel disappointed he's jumping on this band wagon of garbage. I'm sorry but Harry we're sick of listening to your trauma and no offence you've sung it to death, (and I don't even think it's that bad relative to how much he has gone on and on about it) and trauma aside you're a complete hypocrite with how you've treated you're family and the trauma you've put them through!!

Yeah, but that’s your imagination, isn’t it @Roussette ?

BillLius · 07/03/2023 09:05

Who knows what their parenting is like, but I imagine it is warm and loving.

In case you need clarification.

Sorry, what is?

I'm not following you

BillLius · 07/03/2023 09:06

I imagine I’m a size 6 blonde supermodel in a bikini on a yacht in the south of France.

Most of the posters here are not 'royalists' even those who are favourable towards the monarchy, and it's a very outdated term I see thrown about, I'm not ' triggered' by anything as that's a new woo phrase also thrown about with abandon now.
However I do find it irritating, so from now on I will refer to republicans who use it as ' Roundheads ' .
Which is the time appropriate opposite to ' royalists' .

Trying to start another derogatory trend in name calling are we?
If you think the opposite of Roundhead will be cavaliers or remain Royalists. You are mistaken, they will be called Squareheads.

Also, I suspect that @Novella4 was just generalising. I have always said there are no real royalists on here. It's something else completely.

Roussette · 07/03/2023 09:07

Ahh I jumped the gun.

So it is in my imagination that they are warm and loving parents. Got you. I actually said 'who knows what their parenting is like'... so that is my clarification.

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors do we? Hence my clarification. That applies to any parents. Not sure what your point is.

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 09:08

Perhaps not using a term at all? , maybe not grouping posters who don't agree with you into one category? .
And the term commonly used for fans of the royal family is monarchist.
However many would say they aren't this either.

Because what has been said on these threads is pretty damn horrible. I've never seen it about another couple or mother on MN, except when it's been horrific crimes. Or maybe Katie Price who has problems and doesn't always have her children living with her.

I wish I could list all that has been said.

They come across as very loving parents to me. But on here some posts have said they are damaging their children long term, their children will have MH problems, their children will hate them when they grow up etc etc. That's just a mild snippet, there's far far more. Is that OK? Who knows what their parenting is like, but I imagine it is warm and loving. They don't deserve that sort of criticism about their parenting.

You are correct, from everything we have seen, H&M seem like warm loving parents with content little ones.

I just wonder about Gabor Mate diagnosing someone from reading his book,

Most experts in his field use a series of tests and a number of interviews to diagnose, it it’s no wonder many professionals have condemned it along with giving someone a diagnosis live on air

when I got my children’s diagnosis it took a while to process and unpick everything in the report. I can’t imagine having to do that in public

Well, after hearing a renowned psychologist in the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial diagnose and publicly announce JD as bi polar based in large part from watching his Pirates of the Caribbean films nothing would surprise me. I'm not sure what the diagnoses would of been had he watched Willy Wonka!

I expect it's quite tricky to find an 'authentic' therapist in LA.

Who knows what their parenting is like, I IMAGINE it’s warm and loving. So it’s your imagination that they’re warm and loving. They may well be, but who knows what their parenting is like?

Exactly. We can only go by what we see. and I imagine they are warm loving parents. As I imagine William and Kate are too. (But I'm not allowed to imagine lol)

Both couples seem very child orientated.

I have no idea what your point your posts are making. I think we agree. But honestly I have no idea.

Shall we leave it there?

BillLius · 07/03/2023 09:13

You present your imaginary constructs as fact @Roussette .

Howsimplywonderful · 07/03/2023 09:13

I remember a large number of experts had very strong feelings about Trump but were held from publicly diagnosing by their professional body.

There are court experts who tell jurors what what they’re paid to tell them, I’m not sure if I agree with that either.

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 09:18

I am not going to @ you , or have you forgotten about the awful posts you made to me a while ago, where I stated I would not reference your name again?

However you need a history lesson, and have some cheek writing that after the horrible posts you've put on here!
Also I very much doubt novella needs or wants your assistance, they are more than able to defend themselves and rarely stoop to name calling.

BillLius · 07/03/2023 09:13

You present your imaginary constructs as fact @Roussette .

From everything we have seen they are demonstrably warm loving parents.

From around 7rs old at school, you are taught to gather evidence and come up with a conclusion, the test paper is usually called 'reasoning'.

So far we have not seen anything to disprove the theory that they are warm loving parents.

Roussette · 07/03/2023 09:20

BillLius · 07/03/2023 09:13

You present your imaginary constructs as fact @Roussette .

OK. My last word on the subject. I said I imagine they are warm loving parents.

I said in my posts who knows what their parenting is like. And who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

That is not presenting anything as fact.

You are determined to persist on this. I'm standing back and not responding any more now, which is what I suggested in my last post.

Plitvice · 07/03/2023 09:20

So speaks the voice of reason 🙄😄

Are you talking to me?

You are the one that came up with names in the first place, and I said I (possibly other posters) will retort.

You have come up with plenty of horrible posts yourself.

I am not defending Novella, I am agreeing with her.

Exactly. We can only go by what we see. and I imagine they are warm loving parents. As I imagine William and Kate are too. (But I'm not allowed to imagine lol)

Both couples seem very child orientated.

Some of us would disagree and would see that when your only public profile is repeatedly publicly sharing your substance abuse, sex life and family feuds in return for cash - it is ultimately deeply harmful to the children involved.

We have seen this impact on the children of many celebrities in the past.

It’s not a new concept.

It’s excruciatingly shameful and a choice and a trade off that these parents make.

Some people will deny the impact on children and defend the parents choice - others will consider that the emotional development of the child trumps everything.

Which stance you take will depend on your own personal values and moral compass around raising children.

jeffgoldblum · 07/03/2023 09:27

Once again ! After your deeply unpleasant and horrible posts to me last year , I told you not to quote @ me and I will avoid you !
Enough now , I will not reply to you again .
