Their standing in the US is at an all-time low. US audiences seem to hold them in the same contempt as people in the UK

'which actually makes me ponder if the South Park episode maybe wasn’t a catalyst for that rumour?'

That makes perfect sense.

I agree. It's silly and childish to assume that just because you don't like one couple, it means you must love the other.

And it's not like they're 'competing' in the same field, is it? William and Kate are a future King and Queen. Noone is quite sure what Harry and Meghan are or aim to be, other than 'not William and Kate'.

Agreed. I think they are both trying to figure out their roles in the world now and grasping to find footing. It's probably natural to compare themselves and compete with the people nearest to them in age and familial proximity; particularly people who have their present and future lives completely laid out already. Typical in families with dysfunction but rare to see it play out so publicly.

It's understandable after the massive life changes both have experienced since they met.

Oh, it's been turned into a mouth now?

So what was empty? She did not eat anything? What's the joke again ?

The joke was that “The Prince of Canada” had a revelation that branding yourself with attributes to make yourself popular was less important than what was on the inside of yourself. And then discovered that his wife was in fact empty on the inside, all she actually had was her brand.

(The Canadian Prince bit is relevant because on South Park all Canadians are depicted as having detached heads from their mouths up, unlike the Americans who are drawn with normal heads. It’s a running joke).

So, in your opinion, is it a complete put on just to derail or do they really believe it?

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 12:57

@AliceOlive , sadly I think they really do believe it! , it's been going on for quite sometime now .

Did this poster have another name previously beginning with A?

AliceOlive · 17/02/2023 12:59

No, that is someone different! Unless they were posting under the same names at the same time, with different personalities.

ok thanks!

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 12:59

I don't think so @ZeroFuchsGiven , I think it predates that poster , and style is different anyway speculation can be deemed against talk guidelines, so I'm not saying anything else.

AliceOlive · 17/02/2023 13:02

@Serenster That was a really great synopsis and overview the show itself.
I remember Chef / Isaac Hayes quitting the show when they made fun of Scientology and Tom Cruise.

I also think it's sometimes not as offensive watching it as it is with just a screen capture of a specific scene like the one posted here.

Again - it’s not showing a decapitation.

Indeed, and even if it did (it doesn't) why would Harry be decapitating Meghan?

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:05

@AliceOlive , I found I funny, but wasn't keen on the sadam Hussain and the devil stuff !
Not because he wasn't and awful human being, but I'm not keen on sexual violence shown even in cartoons.

OMG that is hilarious- I’d forgotten about the Canada heads. South Park is irreverent, at times puerile, almost always absurd and ridiculously over the top at times. Classic episodes for me would be Trapped in the Closet and the Mormon one. I’m sure H&M will be fine.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:07

That's just my opinion of course, others may view it differently as is their choice, I just turned it off I wouldn't like to censor other's entertainment.

AliceOlive · 17/02/2023 13:08

Actually I just looked up the Isaac Hayes thing. Wow. His son said he was being controlled by Scientologists and had a stroke, then someone quit on his behalf.

"“My father was not that big of a hypocrite to be part of a show that would constantly poke fun at African-American people, Jewish people, gay people — and only quit when it comes to Scientology,” he said. “He wouldn’t be that hypocritical.”"

The logic is that if you laugh at H&M being called whiny and annoying on a cartoon show, you must then similarly feel completely tortured by anything negative about W&K.

That is exactly what happened.

Also the logic is that you can post anything about H&M, just not about other royals even if they were all denigrated by the same show.

By all means laugh at the royal family. I'm sure they have a sense of humour too. It's the pornographic nature of the William one, which is offensive. Harry and Meghan will find this SP episode funny if they have any sense of humour.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:09

Wow that's worrisome! , I watched a documentary about Scientology and it was frightening stuff!

I think they eventually asked for their photo to be removed, but never actually acknowledged that the person in the photo was not in fact William at all.

It's great!

Me too! And South Park is an interesting topic.

I decided when it came out it was in backlash for the “politically correct” culture. I sometimes cringed at the more base and juvenile aspects, but as a general commentary on society it seemed brilliant.

I love the Chicken Pox episode. Ever seen that? And I love when Cartman sings.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:22

Ohh yes @AliceOlive ! , my favourite is cartman as the police officer...., respect my authority! 🤣.
Snd the classic... ' screw you guys I'm going home!' .
