If King Charles asked people not to boo the couple and did a deal with newspapers and TV to not print pictures of them or comment on their appearance, do you think they would come.

If there was a total news blackout where they were concerned (which I would just love!) so we didn't have to even see them, (apart from a passing glimpse), i think I could bear them coming. Daddy clearly want them there. Fatted calf and all that.

Would this get around the problem of them taking the spotlight away from the actual ceremony?

Sure hun.. 😁

SirChenjins · 17/02/2023 11:14

It’s like watching the Kate gang and the Meghan gang pulling each other’s pigtails in the playground 😂

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 11:16

Best not to engage!

SirChenjins · 17/02/2023 11:17

I’m not - I’m watching from the sidelines with my bag of popcorn!

Plitvice · 17/02/2023 11:19

Oh, I don't give a shit about either Meghan or Kate. I just got irritated by the lack of decent debate.

You can't debate with some posters, I've given up!

But if you resort to personal.insults ,that shows you are incapable of debate.

I agree.

I only post on here. I don’t have Facebook or Instagram or Twitter posting every little bit of rubbish that you do.

Did not proofread my message - it meant to say posting every bit of rubbish that people do not ‘you do’.

I think the apt phrase is, "You can't argue with crazy."

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 12:07

@Ridemeginger , yes your right, I was being polite, so to negate a pile on! 😉

Well, it was also apt.

No you can't !

Nor with "delusional/hateful/spiteful" either .

Very wise - I find it much easier to just not read the posts, though admit to dipping in once a month or so to see whether (to borrow Justine's word) they're still quite so deranged

And so it proves ...

Ah, so your the new breed now. That joined end of last year, before the book?

So you won't know what most of us posted back 3/5yrs ago then.

Ok

…you’re…

Cam22 · 17/02/2023 13:30

It’s a contraction not a possessive!

purpledalmation · 17/02/2023 13:33

As the original post of this thread, I'm fed up with a particular poster derailing a perfectly reasonable question about the coronation.

Most people remain civil despite constant goading.

But, there you go, I don't get to dictate who can invade my thread with the sole intention of derailing solid debate.

It’s a shame MN doesn’t have an ignore function so that you can just skip some posters entirely - although it does make the flow of the threads weird when you can do that.

I enjoy discussing things with people who hold different opinions than me but not those who seem to live in an alternate universe.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:41

It's not the different opinions, it's the aggressive posting and attacks and pile ons that ruin the chat for me @wordler .

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:42

It's why I often step back from posting, before dipping a toe back in.

Yes, experienced MN posters have learned to pick up on the tiniest statement, conflate and twist it to fit their narrative and leave the poster tied in knots trying to explain themselves.

Even more experienced posters have learned to ignore most these tactics.

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:51

Indeed @purpledalmation , I'm not good at typing ( I'm on an iPhone, the buttons are so small!) .
So I find instead of trying to argue it's better for me to ignore, I seem to get my post twisted by a certain poster, who then has her pals pile on . So I just leave them to it now!

jeffgoldblum · 17/02/2023 13:53

Although I'm sad a decent poster misinterpreted something I said after being wound up by said poster, I just didn't have the energy to explain.

purpledalmation · 17/02/2023 15:09

teeny tiny phone keyboards are just a way of making you give up lol!
