The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 11:50

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Start a thread for other fans.

Isn't that exactly what @MrsMaxDeWinter has done? And she has been remarkably polite given she's been called a bot, AI, HazdeWinter, weird, Meghan, a paid shill and more. All very rude just because some don't like anything even remotely positive... the only option is to insult the OP.

She has shown complete restraint given the personal rudeness thrown at her.

Bugeyedowl · 30/01/2023 18:32

@Plitvice The Op has posted in the Royal Family board. Where else is she supposed to post? If you don't like it don't come here. But don't tell others what to post.

And she's no more confrontational than some of the other nasty posters on here.

Serenster · 30/01/2023 18:36

The interesting thing about the “impact statement” is that it covers two years, rather than one. Which is an easy way to list more “achievements” but also an easy way to fudge things.

We know for example from public filings that in 2021 Archewell received a $10m donation from one single donor. The state in which Archewell is set up doesn’t require the donor to be named, so they are unnamed. (No-one has publicly announced they are a significant donor to Archewell, by the way).

Anyway, that means that aside from one mega, unnamed donation, Archewell has raised $3m in two years, or $1.5m each year.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/01/2023 18:36

not that different to the Royal family? Are they trying to create a similar dynamic where they are linked to charities and this enhances the charities profile?

If we accept that part of the RF's role is raising charity profiles then yes, it could fairly be said H&M are doing the same thing

Couple of caveats though: among the noise and froth I've yet to see solid evidence that either bring significantly more money into the various charities on a purely personal basis, and the RF don't bang on quite so much about being philanthropists (which is probably just as well)

Rollingdownland · 30/01/2023 18:43

Weird post. Harry and Meghan are deplorable

Bluekerfuffle · 30/01/2023 18:45

Quote from their website which takes forever to load:

Meghan and Harry turn compassion into boots through their Archewell Foundation. In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the Duke and Duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.

They certainly don’t have much compassion for the people they do know.

Ohnonevermind · 30/01/2023 18:46

Meghan couldn’t understand why she wasn’t being paid to do events as a working royal, so to think they are doing it now purely out of the goodness of their hearts seems rather naive and dare I say a little stupid.

DewinDwl · 30/01/2023 18:46

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/01/2023 16:51

I don’t hate Meghan at a cellular level op. I don’t hate her at all. I dislike what she has done and said. Ditto Harry. I am fed up with battle lines and hate being thrown around everywhere. I am not a millennial or Gen Z and understand the art of debate and nuance.

LOL. Let's repeat that, shall we?

I am not a millennial or Gen Z and understand the art of debate and nuance.
Ah the irony 🤣

Some of the replies on this thread are inadvertently hilarious... especially the posters that take the time to post in order to tell us how uninterested they are. There's, how many, like one per page?

I agree with pp that the OP has remained pilot and gracious in the face of the usual onslaught. Shame that all the "I hate MM" and the "who cares about people who are not white like me" posts are crowding out the genuine debate.

What di she think the money given to her by the royal family was, if not her salary and expenses for attending events in her royal capacity...?

Indeed. It seems unnecessary to have quotes about how wonderful they are on their website as well.

Are Sunshine Sachs still employed by them?

Your tone is confrontational. You cannot change people's opinions. If you are impressed or proud of them, good for you. Start a thread for other fans.
Why are you fircting a thread at people who have heard and read content provided directly by the Sussexes and decided that they are not convinced or supportive?

Is there a forum on Mumsnet for fans of Meghan? Happy to post there if such a place exists and you can point me to it. Until then, it's the Royal Family Forum for me, as it is for others who post about Meghan. Why are you so keen to censor my opinion just because you don't want to hear it? Just because something is said does not mean you have to pay attention to it. Especially if it annoys you.

OP posts:
purpledalmation · 30/01/2023 19:21

@IcedPurple But you claimed several times that they did raise that money alone, "they also raised millions for the Vaccine Alliance, including 25 million from one donor alone?"

You haven't replied to my post above about how you know this for a fact. The 'report' is, as someone above said, basically a puff piece with no hard financial information, just glossy photos and vague talk about 'partnerships'.

If I donate 10 quid to a charity which raises millions, can I claim that the Iced Purple Foundation, in partnership with said charity, raised millions? That seems to be basically what 'Archewell' is doing here.

Exactly. All they are doing is contacting major donators to give money to the foundation, for redistribution. Their (unwanted) royal titles are the only pulling power they have, and that will quickly wear thin, especially as their only value is their proximity to the royal family. That should soon diminish with any luck, and they do the honerable thing and hand the titles back as they are no longer representing royalty. They are two fairly talentless people whose only claim to fame/celebrity is harry is the son of a king.

Still not “racism”. Not particularly pleasant but not racism. You can come back and try to explain it through your social justice lens if you like but I won’t be convinced so probably best you don’t waste your time.

Don't worry, I'm not going to. Defend racism all you like.

I am merely stating I’m not like the younger generation with the #nodebate, declaring that everyone, who disagrees with them hates a person or people. It’s lazy and polarising. Those, who declare themselves the most tolerant are the least. I’m glad you find that hilarious.

For many of us, we haven’t got the funds to do any of that, we’re too busy trying to survive on minimum wage in winter in the middle of a financial crisis. Lots are even -shock horror- having to actually make use of food banks!

Did Catherine and William contribute to your food bank or were they empty-handed? Don't try and twist it when comments have called out a few posts.

I agree with you, OP, that the replies are weird. They expected more Meghan batching.

I think a journalist started the first post about where Meghan is. This was then carried to other sites to try and smoke her out during harry's tv appearance but it didn't happen.

With Meghan being gone, a lot of them had to deal Harry instead.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 19:51

They certainly don’t have much compassion for the people they do know.

Over on YouTube, Meghan's brother hosts a show where he has a rubber chicken with a "moon bump" on a stripper pole, representing Meghan. The rubber chicken has simulated sex with a doll with red hair, representing Harry while the brother makes sex noises. Her father Thomas Markle pops into YouTube channels hosted by Meghan pregnancy conspiracists. Samantha has recently been doing a tour of the same channels, speculating on whether Meghan was a prostitute who had abortions as a teenager, whether Doria was in prison and whether Meghan collected her frozen eggs.

I would run for my life.

Meanwhile, the Windsors have their own, more aristocratic forms of dysfunction, using tabloid media, complete with front page photos in bathtubs, instead of YouTube channels. It's a shit show.

Why don’t you take your own advice ? ‘Just because something is said does not mean you to pay attention to it’ Why are you quoting her brother from you tube.. Why don’t you just ignore it ?

But didn’t say Meghan say she was ‘an only child’ in an interview. He must be a figment of your imagination

What in the hell. 😮 who needs a family like that lol

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 20:05

@debbrianna

It's a riot.

If you have 20 minutes to kill, get to YouTube. It's utterly insane. Last week, Samantha did no less than three rounds of interviews. She is the closest some of the conspiracists get to Meghan so they ask stuff like did she really slap Charlotte, did she collect her frozen eggs, did she use a surrogate etc. And Samantha whose currency is that she is in the know, gives some very strange circular answers, then she is invited to the next one. Tom Jr is off the scale wacky with his rubber chicken.

Meghan needs to stay away from that hot mess! I felt a little sorry for her dad until I saw him high giving some of the worst conspiracists.

I think the thing about the royal family dong charity work is that we see it as their job and not as then being uniquely empathetic philanthropical people. It's just their job.

M&H however seem to believ they are iniquely placed due their compassionate nature to change the world for the better.
I cannot believe their website says 'They run towards the struggle.'
It's just embarassing.

I think W&C show some signs of starting on this show how amazing kind and compaasionate you are sell. They should resist. Turn up, smile, be interetsed and polite, that's your job. Not to sell your personal brand.

Do that consistently for 30 years and you'll have the respect and love of the nation.

Ohnonevermind · 30/01/2023 20:29

Unfortunately looking at their choice to pick the lion king over the veterans awards , they seem to run faster towards the higher profile higher paying appearances.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 20:40

That was the accusation from Piers Morgan, the reality as confirmed by his spokesperson at the time, was different.

Why are you twisting things? She grew up as an only child, essentially, and has spoken about it being quite lonely at times. She's never denied the existence of the awful Samantha. I haven't heard much about Thomas Markle junior but he sounds a treat too.
