The "Where's Meghan" Question Has Been Definitively Answered ...

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 11:50

She's been busy!

I hope that those who expressed concern will be happy to know that she has been working with the Archewell team on their just released Impact Report.

Meghan and Harry are polarising figures but there is no doubt that they have galvanising power to get projects, both little and big, off the ground.

Harry, with William and Kate, was a co-founder of the Royal Foundation in 2011. They had a start-up fund of just under 5 million pounds, of which 1.3 million pounds was given away in grants.

10 yrs later, Harry and Meghan set up Archewell, with start up funds of 13 million dollars, and give away three million dollars in grants.

As with both foundations, the reserve is carried over.

The range of their projects is interesting, from working with the Vaccine Alliance to raise private sector contributions to distribute vaccines, endowing academic fellowships, working with partners in resettling refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan, working with World Central Kitchens, to smaller projects like the Uvalde community playground and park and a really cute project to a small charity that gives free hair braiding to young black girls in Texas.

I am so pleased for them, their advisors and staff as this is a dream start for any start up. I have long been sceptical that they may have spread themselves too thinly, so I am glad to see they are now focusing on just three areas, as they find their groove.

Nobody asked about her actually 🤷🏻‍♀️

"Charity vaunteth not itself. It is not puffed up". Or something like that, from the bible. Those two do an awful lot of vaunting and puffing though.

Its one thing to have an opinion on the people who set up the foundation. It's another to then start discrediting the work the foundation does to help people

No it isn't. We're perfectly entitled to have an opinion, favourable or unfavourable, about the work of anyone.

So you're okay with knocking the hair braiding charity then? That those kids don't deserve the help they have received via the foundation just because you don't like H&M.

Well, that's your exercise done for the day with all the reaching and stretching in that post.

CalpolDependant · 30/01/2023 14:02

Theory: OP is Meghan.

Love how you avoid answering it though and resort to petty remarks.

Lol JK. OP is blates Harry.

If I thought you were amenable to a grown up conversation I would engage. But it appears you're not. Toodles.

It’s incredible… all they had was a dream, the drive, tens of millions of pounds, the allure of being associated with royalty and a huge publicity team. It really gives you hope.

How true.

I wouldn't knock the hair braiding though - you tube keeps showing me a salon someone in US and they deal with really matted hair - sometime it's the type pf hair - sometime it's depression and self neglect. Last one I saw was a kid in a children's home - group home was paying and found them as they couldn't get the girl to go to school - took the long two days to get her untangles and a decent length and cut persevered but they also took the time to build the girl up a bit - made a fuss of her - she walked out much more confident.

It might not be the biggest thing out there but USA has many small charities - I know one that gives out second hand shoes which makes a shocking difference to some US kids who really are growing up in 3rd world poverty.

The charity works with homeless and very poor children. It gives them a hairstyle of their choice, a book, school supplies and some food.
It started from a woman who had been homeless after she had finished work, offering to braid kids hair for free if they need it. She saw a need, and did something about it.
It is a tiny charity that helps children. Just like the small charity in Britain that gives a free birthday cake to any family too poor to purchase or make one.
A lot of these tiny charities work with the most needy children. Homeless children for example, and in the US that can mean the children are sleeping on the streets. Small things can make a difference.

It's a bit of a squirrel isn't it?

On top of Harry's book of self pity, anger and resentment we have an article yesterday confirming that they have lost yet more staff from Archewell. Lo and behold today a release to divert attention, look at what we have achieved, aren't we fabulous, compassionate and caring people.

I think the term is 'facade management'.

Thankyou OP this has cheered me up no end seeing the pitchfork holder's heads explode at your post and oh the irony of them accusing you of working for someone. Too funny 😂.
Good luck to 'em they are better away from this insane toxicity for their own sanity.

Hair braiding charity? My, oh my, we really need that, don't we?

Actually - yes. Certain populations do. But cool that you want to mock that. Says a lot about you.

Blueisthecolour1 · 30/01/2023 14:19

@MrsMaxDeWinter

Why are you so invested? Don't understand your fervour. Your posts are slightly fanatical in tone - what's going on? Is this a wind-up?

User12453315 · 30/01/2023 14:20

Your post and replies have an odd structure and reads like it's been written by ChatGPT (AI text generator). I've noticed many Meghan related threads lately with slightly strange sentence structuring or context. They're far less noticeable than the spambots from the past but still a bit "uncanny valley" and devoid of context.

This sounds a lot like someone testing out an automated AI tool based on analysing the latest trending topics and keywords (H&M obviously being high on the list).

AtticusFrost · 30/01/2023 14:21

@User12453315 You mean the OP?

Exactly my thoughts

€13m raised and only $3million distributed. Doesn't sound like a raging success story to me.

Especially against the context of 17 members of staff leaving and the fortune this couple have made from Netflix and “Spare”.

That's my first thought too.

EverydayEssentials · 30/01/2023 14:27

What a weird thread. BTW, Nashville is in Tennessee, not Texas.

FFF3 · 30/01/2023 14:29

What’s so sad is that they’re having their PR team post on a forum like mumsnet. It’s just so desperate!

Now now, don’t let that put you off doing the same thing 🤣🤣

MrsMaxDeWinter · 30/01/2023 14:35

It's wild to hear that there is no racism in the UK, and yet here we are, people knocking a small charity that was specifically set up to cater for homeless and poor black children.

It's interesting that out of the things I have posted, the 25 million raised from Mastercard for vaccines, the academic fellowships, it is the charity targeted at a minority group that receives the mockery and opprobrium.

It's revealing.

Aspiringmatriarch · 30/01/2023 14:36

What a lot of pathetic replies. It's really good to hear about what Harry and Meghan's foundation is doing OP, thank you. And I can confirm I've seen your thoughtful posts on lots of threads and you're definitely not AI, or paid PR as far as I can tell. Ridiculous that anything positive gets jumped on by the snark brigade, who are really not as clever or funny as they think. It's such a great look mocking a charity that helps disadvanted black children and tearing down the good things being done by others from behind your computer screen. If you're not interested, why not scroll on? Oh yes, because your opinions must be heard, ad nauseum, and especially on a thread where anyone dares to say anything positive about Satan's spawn Harry and Meghan!

Dreamstate · 30/01/2023 13:36

Well all those bashing there work and foundation, what you done to make a difference to someone's life?

Are you out there raising millions of pounds and then using it to help people? Are you out volunteering your time down a food bank or in your community?
Have you opened up your homes to help homeless people or offered your skills where relevant to help people less fortunate than you?

Its really disgusting that just because you might not like the people who started the foundation to actually bash the work being done by the foundation itself that goes to helping people who need it.

For many of us, we haven’t got the funds to do any of that, we’re too busy trying to survive on minimum wage in winter in the middle of a financial crisis. Lots are even -shock horror- having to actually make use of food banks!
