Daily Mail is reporting this, I heard it on Sky News press preview. He is going to try to get her to retract her statement, apologise and pay back the money. It's hard to know what to think. But apparently, she dropped the case against another man after saying it was a case of mistaken identity. Prince Andrew said he can't recall meeting her. Very stramge.

I would bet good money that she's lying, she's scared, and she's totally untrustworthy.

I've always thought she would sing like a flock of canaries if she thought she could swing a minute off her jail time. I agree you couldn't trust her as far as you could throw her but I can't see what's in it for her in protecting Andrew.

It's not like she's going to be cavorting round Balmoral or sitting on BP thrones again any time soon.

The most astonishing aspect of this whole story is that the only person currently in prison over this whole thing is a woman.

feellikeanalien · 22/01/2023 21:04

Trouble is that if she talked about PA then those other men who were friends of Epstein and appear on the flight logs for his island might think she would also be prepared to talk about them and she might have a nasty accident in jail.

I still find it beyond belief that she is the only person in prison.

And the only ones really mentioned are British.

Agree. She may have some sort of strange sort of loyalty to him.

Ihatepcos · 22/01/2023 21:23

I wholeheartedly believe that the photo was faked, always have.

AttentionAll · 22/01/2023 21:27

If that was true Andrew would have went to court.

Yup. A photo of a faked photo.

She has had to admit she lied about one man she accused. How can anything she says be believed?

I'm sure she had a dreadful experience but she drew other young girls in to the same thing.

Andrew is a sleaze for sure but not with this woman.

Ker ching!

AttentionAll · 22/01/2023 22:09

Yeah this is what always happens when rich men are rapists or paedophiles.
Oh the woman/parents just want money.
Same accusations every single time. It is so predictable. They all allege this.

AttentionAll · 22/01/2023 22:11

And William just paid out £12.5 million because.
They think we are stupid. If he was innocent he would have fought the case.
How anyone could have watched his TV interview and not thought he was totally lying is beyond me.

William?

paintitallover · 22/01/2023 22:51

All this fuss is because one convicted paedophile (Maxwell) has been allowed an interview in which she supported another paedophile (again) by casting doubt on the veracity of his victim. Why on earth is this news? Of course they'll back each other up.

If true then Charles is more stupid than I thought. The Queen kept Fergie out in the cold for years and with good reason she was an early loose canon and persistent grifter. It looks like they are running out of bodies to do the 'work'. W&K need to take a leaf out of Auntie Anne's playbook and start grafting in a big way.Harry's half in / half out might have turned out to be a good deal after all if petty jealousies and stultifying hierarchical rules had been put to rest if you look at the RF in the round ,as The Firm who needs to show popularity as their 'profits'.

AttentionAll · 22/01/2023 23:38

@derxa Sorry andrew

Has it really been blocked or is Andrew blocking it himself by hiding behind the Palace gates? I’m assuming that there’s some kind of diplomatic immunity for palace residents.

Only for the Head of State apparently.

This all begs the question, does sovereign immunity apply to the rest of the Royal Family?

The short answer is no.

There are certain stipulations, however. Members of the Royal Household cannot be arrested in civil proceedings, and cannot be arrested in the presence of the Queen or anywhere near or in Buckingham Palace.

This could definitely come in handy should any of the family get in a spot of bother.

Unfortunately for Princess Anne, the Queen wasn't present as she plead guilty to a charge under the Criminal Dog Act in 2002 after her bull terrier attacked children in a park. She received a hefty fine.

Anyone else and the dog would have been destroyed. She got off very lightly.

vera99 · 23/01/2023 01:32

You're right of course one law for the rich and all that.

To my mind it is totally wrong in every respect for a convicted felon to be given an opportunity to comment about aspects of their case on TV to a global audience. It would quite rightly be thought beyond the pale in the UK and it would be interesting to know how this was allowed by the US authorities. I'm left wondering if this is a covert recording by an authorised visitor if so I would hope that criminal sanctions should follow.

vera99 · 23/01/2023 06:07

And then if it is covert and majors on Prince Andrew's innocence who is driving that agenda ?

DoggyMoggy · 23/01/2023 07:21

In Charles' shoes, I'd be very worried. It's one thing to say Harry is misguided angry and ignore the Sussexes but another all together to be seen whitewashing Andrew.

Whitewashing Andres around the coronation, him using Queen's money to 'clear his name' rather than use it for charitable purposes e.g. do something for victims of gender based violence will turn more and more people against the monarchy. It's obscene and IF PA became a working royal again, who'd actually want him around young girls during engagements. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I'm all team Wales rather than Sussex but Andrew back in the fold would mean I'll be a republican.

CurrentHun · 23/01/2023 07:50

I’ve not seen the coverage of how Andrew intends to do this ‘clearing his name’ yet but the only way anyone will recognise his name as clear is after a normal court case like any other accused man would go through.

I actually like having a Royal Family in the UK but part of that is based on them being impeccably honest in this day and age and holding up basic decent morals. Nobody is perfect on this score, but I want Charles as Head of the family not to allow accusations against Andrew to be forgotten about or covered up while there is such a serious accusation hanging over his brother’s head.

And until proven otherwise in court, I will continue to believe her.
