Andrew in bid to clear his name

Daily Mail is reporting this, I heard it on Sky News press preview. He is going to try to get her to retract her statement, apologise and pay back the money. It's hard to know what to think. But apparently, she dropped the case against another man after saying it was a case of mistaken identity. Prince Andrew said he can't recall meeting her. Very stramge.

Well he wanted to didn't he but was pressured not to drag it through the courts and demystify the RF?The queen was so committed to duty and upholding the monarchy she sometimes had to sacrifice her family's interests on this altar.she is dead and gone now.

He has no bloody money.

How is he going to pay for this? The King isn't going to give him any and neither will any other Royal.

He needs to shut up and go away!

Charley50 · 22/01/2023 06:10

It's actually easy to fake photos but wasn't he also filmed leaving the house she was staying at and waving at her?

It's so strange that no other men were charged after Ghilane Maxwell's trial. Surely names must have come out?

Reugny · 22/01/2023 06:13

@Charley50 I guess the other men including Royals have more money and sense.

vera99 · 22/01/2023 06:26

Then there is him recorded as staying at Epstein's Manhattan house after his conviction as a sexual trafficker and predator. What does he hope to achieve - his reputation where it matters is not coming back ever ? Legal or not he's a proven sleazebag with an irreparably damaged reputation and deluded to boot. Seemingly a common trait amongst the Windsors.

I fear that any ‘mystique’ of the Royal Family is now gone forever, lying in a pool of lurid stories of not just human frailties but the most base of them.

Even though I like him to live in a hut as a hermit I do sort of understand, this was civil case and the paying to make it go away hasn’t really worked. He might as well of tried his day in court.

It’s not just his sexual activity but him continued to be friends with a convicted paedophile - this he very clearly did.

Badger1970 · 22/01/2023 08:38

He sees Charles as weak. Confirmed by Harry's behaviour and the complete lack of reaction to it.

He's now got the money from his late mothers estate to fund it. He wouldn't have had access to money like that before.

vera99 · 22/01/2023 08:46

I suspect Dershowitz who is a legal genius and a consummate media performer and a most wily fellow is encouraging him to go down the same road as himself. The problem is PA isn't Dershowitz.

(Then) PCharles was on friendly terms with Jimmy Saville along with hundreds of other totally innocent people taken in by a consummate liar and manipulator. Do we also put all the doctors, teachers, Charity workers etc etc on trial with PC.

I wish people would grow up and stop parroting this particular piece of nonsense.

FWIW. JC was only 'friends' with fellow paedophiles

Well, yes.that was a serious error of judgment. However that plus having an obnoxious and entitled personality does not make him a rapist

LlynTegid · 22/01/2023 09:55

I think it would be a mistake by Prince Andrew to do this.

However, I would have preferred the allegations to have been heard in court and a judge or jury decide.

The queen was so committed to duty and upholding the monarchy she sometimes had to sacrifice her family's interests on this altar.

She paid lip service to chucking him overboard. The reality is that she was showing silent support and two fingers to public opinion from a day or two after Newsnight right up to her death.

He has no bloody money.

He has been cited as the third richest royal:

www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/10148444/top-earning-royal-family-net-worth-rich-list/

He's always had money. a multi million pond refurb to Royal Lodges and the subsequent purchase of a knock down lease, a £13m ski lodge, a £12k watch and having his £200K Bentley resprayed in a bespoke colour spring to mind.

The sources of said funds are of course shrouded in extreme opacity like all royal finances.

I've said on another thread trying to clear his name in court is a high-stakes game and even if he succeeds his lifetime of oafishness, entitlement and tax payer funded global jollies with dodgy characters while pursuing his own interests on the side must surely scupper any return to the public stage.

CathyorClaire · 22/01/2023 10:53

pound

Although I expect it included ponds too...

I do hope you are correct on this. I cannot see the british public having any appetite for seeing him return to duties. Although Charles has agreed he can use HRH in correspondence again. So is this the start of the rehabilitation of him?

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/01/2023 10:57

Hard to know what to think?

It really isn’t.

clarrylove · 22/01/2023 11:04

There was this claim before that the photo was fake...www.joe.co.uk/news/prince-andrews-ex-lady-hervey-claims-infamous-virginia-giuffre-photo-is-fake-315221

FunnyWorldWeLiveIn · 22/01/2023 11:05

Maybe megs and h could interview him??

Wookiebowl · 22/01/2023 11:09

I hope he does try to be honest as I'm nosy and keen to know why Meghan was identified as someone by VGs legal team that should assist in the enquiries so that would come to light if it went to trial. Without being conspiracy theory if the reciepts are genuine i think it would be mighty interesting. Its weird that VGs charity the money went to hasn't had any activity since. Its all a bit odd tbh.

I don't know if it would be right to assume that any effort to overturn the compensation would have King Charles's approval.

I'm reminded that the DM is reporting on Sarah Ferguson's return to the Royal fold. The reporting says that Queen Consort Camilla approves of her, and that the Queen Consort is now the power behind the throne. An anonymous source for this of course, but is this Queen Consort Camilla herself briefing a chosen reporter? Through Sarah Ferguson, possibly?

Perhaps she thinks that Andrew should restore his image more vigorously.

The DM seem to have access to a lot of detail, about Sarah: she is gentry like Camilla and she likes horses. And she knows how to' play the game' with Camilla.

I don't think the press would have found out or needed to know about Sarah's Christmas return. I'm not sure I feel this wave of press briefings and hinting at the power behind the throne is a good idea at all. I've not seen any evidence of the right note being struck so far, whether it's photos of Jeremy Clarkson attending a drinks reception graced by Camilla to Camilla bopping in the aisles at an Abba concert. Everything is striking the wrong note and seeming like the leaker mistakenly thinks the public gives a fig about these people who are not that cool and in fact very old.

We like the Royal shaking hands with volunteers and being discreet like the Queen. Anything that reeks of personal influence being welded with gusto is a little too Princess Diana without the glamour and charm.

BethDuttonsTwin · 22/01/2023 11:19

Interesting. Maybe if he does it will open the big can of worms that the US elite are trying so hard to keep closed, and all the others involved might get named and shamed too.

ThighMistress · 22/01/2023 11:25

I hope Andrew gives another tv interview too. Comedy gold!

Why pay someone £12m if you are innocent? If I were not guilty of something I’d be shouting from the rooftops, certainly not paying my accuser.

Diverseopinions · 22/01/2023 11:37

I think that Andrew has a right to try to rehabilitate himself, if he feels the accusations are false and the infamous photograph is photoshopped.

One thing about all of Harry's bile-spewing and truth-bombing is that it makes everybody else's laying -out -their- laundry in public look only fractionally attention-seeking. It's helped him that his nephew has scraped the bottom of decency.

Also, that photo does look a bit weird. The slight shadows look a bit weird. Andrew looks to be staring at something further away and not enough conscious of her. I think I remember seeing a photo of Virginia wearing that outfit at an evening function attended by celebrities. It could have been possible to take a picture of her from a different occasion and put it together with parts from other photos. We have to accept that the very famous are open to exploitation on account of their high profile and desire to keep a clean public image.
