William was in the wrong re Harry’s wedding

Re William didn’t stay over with Harry the night before his wedding and caused a fuss about having to go to the hotel he was in the night before for dinner. As his only brother and as best man he should’ve been there with him. We hear all the time how wonderful and amazing Catherine’s family are - surely on the occasion of his only sibling getting married her parents could’ve come over to help her with her newborn and the children for the night. They have nannies and cleaners and staff so not exactly short of help in general.

my DH has only one brother too. He got married when my baby was 6 weeks old post a difficult c-section. We went to the hotel for 3 nights - so DH could have drinks with his brother and bridal party the night before, the night of the wedding and the night after the wedding. I was fine with this as it was his only siblings wedding. Yes it was difficult for me and exhausting but it was important to us both that we made a big effort for his DBro especially as (like Harry) they were missing a parent at the wedding.

from my view either William or Catherine or both didn’t care enough to put themselves out for Harry and his wedding which reflects poorly on them.

He got a free flat. I should bloody hope he isn't complaining.

which he 'worked' for.

That is if you call 'royal duties' work.

notanotheroneagain · 19/01/2023 11:31

There is clearly no complaint, just how things were.

“This particular memory is entrenched in his mind.”

That’s a common belief for people who have damaged their brains with drugs, though. He comes across to me as paranoid, also a hallmark of drug use. And Harry admits to extensive drug use, including frequent and current marijuana use. He does not see using marijuana while his children are asleep in the house as problematic. He used the gas meant for his wife who was in labor.

It’s really sad.

Those staff quarters are also on the same grounds. But the narrative is a 'quaint little cottage for K&W'.

Fun fact :
When H moved out of his father's house he was moved to a basement flat in the maids quarters (was this when Camilla converted his room into a dressing room?). Typically, there was not much light coming in - they are usually damp too - lower retails space for London. Other workers were living in the flats above him and assigned Diana's parking space. Harry is not complaining here, just stating facts. I am 😲because the narrative is always 'keep quiet, you are such a privileged prince'.

Fun Fact: Harry lived in the basement flat at Kensington Palace between March 2012 (after moving out from Clarence House) and October 2013 (when he moved into Nottingham Cottage).

For all of this period he was a full time army officer in the AAC, Squadron 662 based in Suffolk. He also completed a 20-week tour of Afghanistan in these 18 months. So poor Prince Harry had to make do with a Kensington Palace basement flat for his free, secure, centrally located London base for those brief periods when he was back in London. I know you are a professional complainer, but if you are truly aghast at this you are being ridiculous.

I have another “fun fact”: Harry is and was a multi-millionaire. He did not need to live in a “maid’s flat” if he didn’t want to.

Not complaining? Why mention it then and describe it in those terms. 1000s of people in London live in basement flats. It would be interesting to actually see the “maid’s flat”, and form a view.

JaneJeffer · 19/01/2023 12:34

Fun fact: fun facts are not fun

notanotheroneagain · 19/01/2023 12:36

Fun Fact :

Harry was always in the news and front pages and took vitriol for other RF members. It's not like he was, say Lady Chatto or those siblings no one talks about. Due to his family, he was in front pages. So yeah, he was working. Double duty from the looks of it. Much work for HMQE, I would say.

Meantime,
Charles is also busy giving millions to Camilla's children, nephew, sister, you name it.

William is entitled to put the needs of his immediate family first

he is indeed. But I would be very upset if a sibling of mine did that. Your wedding is a special day. It was one night.

You’d be upset a sibling wanted to be at home with their new baby rather than fannying around in a hotel for a night for .. what a few drinks and a pep talk? Literally no one cares about your wedding as much as you do. No one. I’d be fucking livid if my sibling had this disgusting self centred attitude and I say this as someone getting married this year.

I guess alot of people just put themselves first though. I find that selfish
oh the fucking irony.

Agree

I’ll explain this for those who might not click on the picture: The Duchy of Cornwall employs interior designer personally recommended by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to work on various projects, and pays her market rates for the work.

(I admit, I can see little difference between this and Meghan including her friend Misha Noonoo ‘s design in her Smart Works clothing collection - the “buy one, one gets donated deal” that would have driven a great number of sales of a small and barely-known brand).

Didn't Harry receive negative press because he dressed as a Nazi, played nude snooker in Vagas and took drugs (amongst other things).

I don’t think anyone but Harry himself is responsible for generating those negative headlines.

No, that was apparently Camilla in a Harry face mask.

notanotheroneagain · 19/01/2023 13:05

Who the hell cares if anyone is naked in vegas ? Likely to happen daily.
Who cares if some random is taking drugs. Just like Camilla' son took drugs, much less of a big deal was made about it.
Harry was disproportionally made big front news because of his family.

Don't know why you are brining Misha Nonoo in this. She is a well known brand among fashionistas - a bit like saying Lulu Guinness or someone.

I have never heard of Camilla's sister.

Nor, do I know what marketing value funding and funnelling funds to Camilla's dc and nephew is.

Harry partying with known drug dealers and prostitutes in Vegas, naked photos.

Clearly off his head on something.

Did it get much of a mention in the book ?

If you bothered to read the book, you would know there is a full chapter on it.

WeWereInParis · 19/01/2023 13:13

William could have told him yes, but I can only stay a little bit.

He did - he stayed for dinner?

Serenster · 19/01/2023 13:25

That’s exactly the point though. The Smartworks Capsule collection was not about niche or cool fashion brands. It was based on mass market retailers supporting it with their national coverage and dedicated production chains/stock systems so they were able to maximise its promotion and the opportunity for consumers to buy the items.

So we had a suit, bags and dresses supplied by Jigsaw, John Lewis and M&S respectively. And a…white shirt, supplied by little known designer with no bricks and mortar retail platform, who produces on demand normally, rather than creating stock in advance, who just happens to be Meghan’s good friend.

If you try to tell us that this was the only place Smartworks could source a plain white shirt for their Capsule Collection, you are having a laugh. If you try to tell me that Misha Nonoo was remotely comparable to the other stores participating, you are also having a laugh. She presumably did good business fro the opportunity, though.

OrcastralManoeuvresInTheDark · 19/01/2023 13:36

And presumably @Serenster the SmartWorks collection was about being affordable. A high street price point. That is not Mischa Nonoo’s category. Do you happen to know how much her shirt was?

Yes,it was all his idea but the bodyguards didn’t stop him stripping and there were dodgy skanks around so actually ITS NOT HIS FAULT!!! Hilariously he does say that the place was awash w women all trying to talk to him but he had a girlfriend girlfriend so he didn’t even look sideways at the

As I remember, the shirt in question was a bog standard white 'boyfriend' shirt. Price wasn't bog standard, however. Plus, it wasn't available in Britain and had to be ordered from New York. Not very appropriate for a British charity.

MonsoonMadness · 19/01/2023 13:46

I think Diana encouraged Harry in particular to be naughty as a child. She revelled in his naughtiness and probably made lots of allowances for him. Maybe didn’t tell him off or set boundaries. Perhaps he has carried this into adult life. His sainted mother thought it was cute and funny so why not? There’s always someone to clean up after him and cover his tracks. If not, it’s someone else’s fault.
