Shocked to see in this mornings Telegraph that Harry is concerned for the other "spares" He just wants to break the bad parenting pattern and stop it happening to Charlotte or George. If I was W&K I would be absolutely LIVID by now. What does anyone else think?

A recorded audience, like canned laughter. We never saw the audience, did we?

How ridiculously embarrassing for Harry.

Peverellshire · 20/01/2023 19:09

William deeply loves Harry & his father adores him I think. Would they really freeze him out & not compromise? Meet him & try to thrash things out?

Ohnonevermind · 20/01/2023 19:11

No audience for Harry 🤣
A Pre-taped ripple of hope

Yes.

I do feel Charles may backtrack & offer an olive branch or give M & H some room to manoeuvre. What’s the alternative? & does, Harry have some bomb to potentially drop on them? What then?

I don't see how Charles can, because it has become obvious that Harry cannot be trusted. If he offered that olive branch and made an agreement with Harry, he knows that it's virtually inevitable that it will all turn up n some interview, article or book with all the facts twisted to depict Harry as wronged innocent, yet again.

Ohnonevermind · 20/01/2023 19:12

@Peverellshire

Harry simply can’t be trusted at the moment. I wouldn’t meet him, they’d be on the phone to Gayle King before you could say ‘canned laughter’

‘Spare’ has gone down badly. I find it hard to believe a majority of the public would swallow any further ‘bombshells’.

So sad all round, but I feel Charles is weak/soft & feels guilty & responsible to some degree for what’s come to pass. I just can’t see him going non contact.

I hope the doors still open to some degree, for Harry’s sake as I fear he’ll live to regret it.

Ohnonevermind · 20/01/2023 19:23

@Peverellshire

Charles loves his son, but he also has to do what’s best for the monarchy.

It makes me want to watch the godfather 1 and 2 even though I watched them at Christmas

No member of the royal family is going to speak to Harry for fear of their conversation being distorted and featured in the next book, 'documentary', interview, cartoon or whatever.

Surely you can understand this?

Don't ever take sides with anyone against the family again. Ever.

I think Charles being weak is a myth. He must have balls of steel to go through what he has in the last five months and still appear in public smiling.

@IcedPurple

Taken care of me. Mike, you’re my kid brother, and you take care of me? Did you ever think of that. Ever once? Send Fredo off to do this, send Fredo to take care of that… take care of some little unimportant night club here, and there; pick somebody up at the airport. I’m your older brother Mike and I was stepped over! … It ain’t the way I wanted it! I can handle things. I’m smart. Not like everybody says, like dumb. I’m smart and I want respect!

I'm very happy with the Godfather talk, but please do not go there with Part 3. Just no.

Peverellshire · 20/01/2023 19:52

@Blossomtoes maybe you’re right, Camilla’s support no doubt helps enormously.

@IcedPurple I do ‘see’ but I predict, backtracking & compromise to a degree. Will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Harry cut the most controversial bits & it might be a bit of a sword of Damocles situation too.

Ultimately, Charles is a peacemaker who REALLY doesn’t want warring sons & last years to be made misery, he says, so I feel we’ll see a demonstration of blood being thicker than water. A modern way, flesh & blood, ultimately trumping the institution.

Ohnonevermind · 20/01/2023 19:54

@Ridemeginger

I watched one and two over Christmas, the parallels with the RF saga were interesting

No no3

But his sons aren't 'warring'. They haven't spoken 'socially' for more than 3 years. One is overseas and the other is a future king. There really is no competition whatsoever as far as Charles is concerned and like @Blossomtoes I really don't buy that he is 'soft'. Hes not going to basically let himself be bullied by his bratty younger son. And if Harry really has some great 'bomb' to drop, which I doubt, then let it happen. I'd imagine the royals have a few 'bombs' they could drop on Harry too.

I get the impression that Charles and William are very much together in the handling of Harry.

I could well be wrong, but I feel like Charles wouldn’t fully welcome Harry back in any significant way, if William wasn’t on board.

Harry said he hasn’t spoken to either of them ‘in a while’

I think Charles is ultimately thinking long term, he’s hardly going to welcome Harry back in to the fold, just for William to banish him again when he’s king. I think the two of the them are in step when it comes to this. Not in terms with their feelings, I reckon Charles is more keen to forgive and forget than William, but in terms of the ‘strategy’ and how they deal with it within ‘the firm’

Peverellshire · 20/01/2023 20:22

That's true, @IcedPurple I stand corrected. I do feel that this discordance etc rankles with Charles. As to the 'bomb' it might depend on what he has , if indeed, he has 'something'. Guess we'll find out. I don't see Charles as strong in himself but we'll see by his actions and his reign.

Looking back, as an aside, I noted when looking for the last fight between the brothers/'conversation' that William's comment 'I swear on Mummy's Life I just want you to be happy' wasn't seen to be genuine by Harry who replied 'I really don't think you do'. Why? Because he wouldn't let him off the hook and escape the dysfunctional family. Why wouldn't William want Harry to be happy?

Shelefttheweb · 20/01/2023 23:16

“Swear on someone’s life” doesn’t work when they are dead surely?

Peverellshire · 20/01/2023 23:20

It's a personal code for very serious, 'emergency', situations where the truth is vital, to be heard vital, etc.
