Shocked to see in this mornings Telegraph that Harry is concerned for the other "spares" He just wants to break the bad parenting pattern and stop it happening to Charlotte or George. If I was W&K I would be absolutely LIVID by now. What does anyone else think?

@Blossomtoes , it's not a very low blow. I have read some of her articles, and IIRC they were all about her MH issues or her or her family. Maybe that was her brief, but she has a child, and that child might read about things her mother did whilst drunk, when at the time her mother was a married woman and a mother.

And that’s her business, not yours. You said it quite intentionally to discredit her. Her child will, I hope, give her mother credit for the courage it took her to deal with her alcoholism, get sober and stay that way.

MerryChristmasToYou · 16/01/2023 15:46

@Blossomtoes , it was in an article that she had written in a newspaper I had paid good money for.
I am perfectly entitled to have an opinion about what I read in newspapers.

He should be more worried about this.

Also, how his children may resent him for cutting them off from their family and cousins.

I don’t think he’s very well and although this in incredibly hurtful for his family, I can’t help but feel sorry for him and his mental state.

I said this on another thread, but Harrys children are very young for him to be talking about worrying about other peoples.

He needs to focus on his own, and when they grow up into happy well adjusted adults, that’s when you can start dishing out the parenting advice. And even then it wouldn’t be a clever thing to do….

Just in general, it's annoying when people who've only just begun on parenting are sure they're going to do it all right (with the implied 'not like my own parents'). Especially when they have a whole teams of cleaners, nannies, cooks and PAs to make the job quite a lot easier!

Shelefttheweb · 16/01/2023 16:58

Given his drug taking, he is hardly setting a good example within the home.

Just trying again. Not sure why this link got banhammered.

Interesting article. Makes you think about the impact of other substances too.

That’s a very low blow. She’s sober now and should be applauded for that. My criticism of her is her sycophancy.

Agreed. I don't like this writer but the topics she writes about is her business, especially if they're opinion/awareness pieces and not just sordid confessional tell-alls for the sake of it.@MerryChristmasToYou one day your children are going to grow up and realise mummy wasn't always the picture-perfect paradigm of a well-behaved Victorian woman either. Surprise surprise, mothers have varied lives before becoming mothers.

The fake concern for the writer's child also seems quite gendered as well. Don't think anyone would have an issue with a father writing about their previous struggle with sobriety, or mental health issues.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/01/2023 19:02

Ive noticed everything single time his brother is mentioned he goes into the same speech about ‘planting and leaking stories, and British press’
But never what was leaked

Well there was the Jason Knauf thing, where some insist it was William who put him up to showing Meghan had lied in court, but apart from that most of the recent stuff seems to be about various royals being "sad" or "angered", and speculation as to whether H&M will be invited to the coronation

In other words nothing of much substance - at least not yet

Problem with the Jason Knauf thing is, whilst he might not like it - it's true.

His version of how the BM dresses/Kate crying story got out - the then Cambridges had dinner with Charles and told them there'd been strife, Camilla then leaked - also only really makes sense if that story was also actually true.

The Nazi uniform, racist insults, cocaine taking etc - those were true too.

He seems to have supplied few examples of actual fake stories.

sayitwithcolors · 16/01/2023 22:54

I totally agree with you! Look at how all the spares have been treated...

Bushgirl · 17/01/2023 08:22

What I really don't understand is why anybody cares.

Shelefttheweb · 17/01/2023 09:23

The drug taking it a current issue, or at least it is clear he took drugs since he has had children and no reflection that this is a bad thing. Even if you think the drugs themselves aren’t bad, you are supporting a worldwide criminal industry. You cannot condemn slavery and colonialism and support the drugs trade, and all that entails, by buying drugs.

MerryChristmasToYou · 17/01/2023 10:06

@oohokay , the article described how BG had gone on a drinking binge and taken cocaine etc, and she was already a mother and still with the father at the time. AFAIK she is still married.

I'm not criticising her writing style or her bringing attention to MH issues, but she has written a fair bit about her child. If I buy a newspaper and read an article in it, then as pp I have a right to have an opinion about it. Similarly, if I read a book, I have a right to have an opinion about it.
I didn't even criticise BG.

Whatever I may have got up to before meeting now DH and having DC, I don't think I have done anything shocking since.

Your accusation of faux concern for the child is below the belt. My concern isn't faux, and I have some concern about any young child who is written about by his or her parents. There is another journalist who has written about her family and she got a lot of criticism for it.

@steff Is this a haiku?

Could be, but as I don't write Japanese I couldn't say for sure....

mixedrecycling · 19/01/2023 07:27

Not sure any of those activities show who would be best as monarch tbh...

I guess a ninja warrior style assault course could be the model used rather than a hereditary monarchy. I am shit at all things that need coordination and a love of heights, so an assault course as a judgement to prove your worth would be crap for me. It has great spectator value though, beat the wall Willy, beat the wall 😁

I keep seeing this particular clip being posted.

Really dragging the bottom of the barrel trying to pimp up Harry. It's pointless frankly.

I'm quite sure William could do that assault course too if he wanted to. He played polo & water polo & rugby for years. He was a search & Rescue and then Air Ambulance pilot for many years - he's not exactly scared.

Bring back the Krypton Factor!

(but leave ‘It’s a Royal Knockout’ in the vault!)

@MrsFinkelstein it’s the same person posting it. And lots of strange words and typos in their posts.
