So Hazza laments that he “almost never carried money, never owned a car, never carried a house key, never once ordered anything online, never received a single box from Amazon, almost never travelled on the Underground” etc etc

Which got me to wondering what other everyday pleasures he’s missed out on - off the top of my head the list could include:

• lost an afternoon on hold to a call centre
• attempted to give stuff away on Freecycle/FB
• tracked down the doorstep in the photo where your parcel’s been delivered
• been on a rail replacement bus service
• tried to cancel a gym membership

Any more? (lighthearted, of course)

Most of the royal family won’t have done These things

Prince Edward travels regularly on the underground apparently.
Of course his face is not as well known as P. Harry, but there was a time when he was 4th in line to the throne.
Harry could probably by a biro for someone on Amazon, if he wanted to, which will kill two birds with one stone, by ordering on line, and having an Amazon delivery.

Oh my sister and I were already making a list of things Prince Happy doesn't have to do! So far I have:
Go to Aldi in the rain
Wipe the dog's snotty nose prints off the window
Write to his local councillor about the school bus service being cancelled

I’m not particularly a fan, but I think he probably has done a lot of stuff he didn’t want to and not done a lot of stuff he would have wanted to. Not to say that he doesn’t have plenty of privilege but it’s a pretty gilded and regimented cage.

Filled the clearly empty hand soap bottle with water to tide you over until the morning.
Chased the bin men to ask if you can empty the ‘black bin bag’ rubbish out of your garden bin.

Winced when the ATM machine asks if you want to check your balance

He has sat in a traffic jam because quite a few years ago I was also in the same jam and couldn't think where I'd seen the person in the car next to me, only dawned on me later. It was round Kings Lynn so he could have been heading up to Sandringham.

Been sanctioned on his benefits claim because he was late for his meeting because he didn’t have enough money to get the bus to the city centre 45 minutes from he lives?
No? Not lighthearted enough?

Diligently update his monthly budget spreadsheet.
carefully reconcile his bank statement against said budget
keep track of his bank balance every week to make sure no unexpected moments have gone through

What do you think he had to do that he didn't want to?

Worried about failing his exams

Scrapped dog shit off his shoes after stepping in it.

Learnt how to use a washing machine

Gone round multiple shops looking for bog roll and other items when everyone did panic buying at the start of COVID.

Understood the irony in Pulp's Common People

Queued for hours at passport control

• Rummaged through the reduced section in the supermarket

• Declined an invitation to go somewhere due to cost

• Worn second hand clothing

• Taken responsibility for himself

Told the truth.

Treated a minimum wage worker with courtesy and respect.

Looked for stuff to sell on eBay to pay for a child's school trip.

Worked a late shift and then stayed to work the night shift because the night staff went off sick.

Spent a weekend catching up on all the housework that didn't get done in the week.

What standing on the front room in the standing room only section? Sat at the front at a all seated gig maybe but not stood.

You didn’t stipulate any of that. I bet he’s done what you said in the first place and nobody would have the balls to tell him to sit down.

Put the £15 Amazon gift card his employer gave him in recognition of 'going above and beyond, during lockdown' towards a fake 'Oodie for his kid, to save putting the heating on, this winter.
