But if it didn't sell, they wouldn't publish it. The public who lap it all up are to blame provided of course we assume the public are intelligent enough to know they are being fed a narrative. Although sadly its pretty obvious from the number of papers sold and the number of threads online devoted to H&M that the public the papers aim at are not intelligent.

That is so true, accountability on press and people then lol

So much interesting stuff (albeit very one sided, and we aren’t going to get the other side).

Was kinda weird Harry said he was now safer where he is....the country with the most gun violence in the developed world, where 95% of schools have active shooter drills (I’m not kidding), and the belly of the beast when it comes to racism and racial conflict (his wife, being mixed race, is not a true american, as one of its many race laws was white only citizenship (Naturalization Act 1790), the country was set up (stolen) for whites.

That country is (and will continue) to go through enormous change and turmoil over next few decades with the non white populous becoming the majority by 2040...and once that happens the racist national anthem will go, more statues of jefferson, washington and co. will topple, its racist documents (‘declaration’ with the natives dehumanised as “savages”) will be shredded, and the white backlash will continue (first seen in 1965 when the white only immigration law was lifted, which began the process of changing in demographics from a white dominated country (90% plus) to one that will be majority non white).

Strange that you think it's weird he feels safer in the US than in the country where the press and citizens are baying for his blood every single day 🤔

*I know he was referring to less press intrusion when he said he was safer, but his family is anything but safe there.

In my view, any parent of a child who goes to live there is not a good one.

Any evidence for this?

MaggieFS · 08/01/2023 23:38

I can't work out why Harry would have chosen Tom Bradby with whom he was a long-standing acquaintance. To get an easier ride? I'm sure I read an article somewhere that Harry was said to have been displeased about Meghan having been asked the 'are you ok?' q in Africa.

toomuchlaundry · 08/01/2023 23:38

But if he didn’t publish a book and they lived a normal (rich) life in US we wouldn’t be talking about them.

JudgeJ · 08/01/2023 23:40

Lysianthus · 08/01/2023 22:11

Not read the thread but watching live. Tom is a v close friend of William's so that's bizarre (that he was the interviewer if choice). I'd say Harry is suffering from Californication. And yet, if he is mentally ill then we need to be careful. I think he looks and sounds quite unwell.

TB was a close friend of William, he did their engagement interview, but since Harry's and Mrs Harry's whinge fest to him after their South African visit he's burnt his bridges big time.

MoscowMules · 08/01/2023 23:40

We all know inference was being made at the royal family being racists.

There were "concerned talks about how dark the baby would be, and what that would look like"

Which prompted a cat bum face and "what" from OW.

Remember .....

And then a "knowing nod from MM" we all saw it with our own eyes, and Harry didn't say anything, he didn't exactly say "yes that was their unconscious bias showing" 🤦🏻‍♀️

moonriverandme · 08/01/2023 23:41

The narcissists prayer could have been written for him. No self awareness, no responsibility for anything that happened. Getting the smallest bedroom, get a grip , so entitled & jealous. Just poor me, me, me, what about mee.

Viviennemary · 08/01/2023 23:41

IfHarry didn't think it was a racist remarkmwhy didnt he come forward and say so when he saw the headlines and saw William being asked if he royal family was racist. He kept quiet. He really is the limit.

Quirkyme · 08/01/2023 23:41

@moonriverandme

Spot on about narcissism. I was thinking just that as I watched him.

"That Markle woman"
Careful, your misogyny is showing

Hardly 'misogyny' to dislke one particular woman or are we meant to worship all members of the sisterhood?

GlorianaCervixia · 08/01/2023 23:43

I found him difficult to listen to because he was so vague most of the time. He had a few flashes of anger when he was challenged that were interesting to see.

I also found his argument that he behaved in a racist way because of his upbringing and the media irritating, why not just take responsibility? Why is it other people's fault but not his?

Same with his response to being asked if he'd made mistakes and he said his family should tell him what they were. Why? So he can give another interview about them, put them in a book? He genuinely doesn't see how his behaviour has contributed to the situation he's in with his family. He complained that the media were attacking him during lockdown but wasn't that the same period he and Meghan did the Oprah interview? Again, no understanding of how his own interactions with the media have contributed to the situation he's in.

The Clarkson article was a good one to bring up in terms of being abusive and sexist towards Meghan but didn't support his overall argument about the media being unaccountable. In this case, he was widely condemned in the media and social media, The Sun and Clarkson apologised and the article was pulled from The Sun's website.

Jennybeans401 · 08/01/2023 23:44

@MoscowMules yes, absolutely clear what was meant.

Something that is a common thread with M&H is this theme of dropping a whopper of a bomb then glossing over it and moving on.

My feeling is this is do they can keep the press and public dangling waiting for the 'truth'. It's not about racism, the press or monarchy. It's about selling a lot of books and getting rich.

They'd be miserable to reconcile with the RF, what's interesting about that? I think H needs more drama.

For those who have sought to comment on Harry and/or his wife’s mental health and fitness, I would encourage you to read the following article in the Telegraph. It features an interview with this site’s founder. She’s made her own assessment of some of your mental faculties.
Mumsnet founder: ‘Our users are deranged when it comes to Meghan’

She's not wrong

Good description.

doory · 08/01/2023 23:45

I assumed he meant less press intrusion & he can have his own security.

Yes, that apple hasn't fallen far from the tree! Knowing how his mother's obsession with the press finished up I find it amazing that he is wanting to use the press in exactly the same way. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the Panorama performance she had an agenda and she wanted her version of the 'truth' to be the one accepted.

Oh and Charles’s version of “the truth” was better was it? Remember that Diana was expected to pretend in public that their marriage was great! There were rumours but no one knew for sure about Camilla until Diana published her book. Imagine the sort of damage that would have been done to Wills and Harry if she hadn’t spoken up, having to pretend that they were all one happy family?

I watched a documentary by chance tonight that said Diana spoke up and manipulated the press the way she did, because she was terrified of losing custody of her dc to arguably the most powerful family in the land which is exactly what had happened to Diana’s mother when she had gone up against the establishment.

Diana had good reason to think she was up
against it too. Charles’s friend Nicholas Soames, the Armed Forces Minister at the time, publically called Diana a “loose cannon” when she was campaigning against land mines, and the Queen’s friend Lady Kennard said Diana was “damaged goods.” So Diana knew that the establishment was briefing against her.

And history is now repeating itself!

You should go with what the black people in this situation think, not the white privileged one

ItWasDobbinAtTheMareAndSpare · 08/01/2023 23:46

Just realised I posted this on the wrong thread:

This is really interesting though, what he said said about Susan Hussey:

“Meghan and I love Susan Hussey. She [Meghan] thinks she’s great. And I also know that what she meant . . . she never meant any harm.”

He wasn’t there and he’s potentially saying that a black woman, Ngozi Fulani, is wrong in feeling that it was racist. I don’t know either way but I’d certainly not be announcing to millions that the person impacted is wrong. It’s a bit as though only they can be wronged.

As much as I have empathy for some of it, this seems kind of off, and not in line with someone spending so much time talking about racism and unconscious bias - someone receiving awards for it!

Jennybeans401 · 08/01/2023 23:47

@GlorianaCervixia yes, Harry should have owned up. "I was immature and a complete that, sorry for this."

And his argument is that the office of Charles and Camilla, and that of Katherine and William, have been briefing journalists and dropping their own bombs about him and Meghan in the tabloids for six years!

Were you watching the same interview? He said the Hussey situation sums up the culture within the RF 🤔

100%

MoscowMules · 08/01/2023 23:48

I will say I do agree with Harry that tabloid media is the absolute scourge of the earth, and I'd happily see it die a death tomorrow.

It is nothing but false allegations, gossip and rumour, and should be recognised for what it is poorly written fantasy writing.

Celebrities for as long as I remember have had to "deny" break ups, have been hounded and photographed viciously and intrusively.

I always think back to poor Britney Spears, they were in my opinion a massive variable in her decline, and a major protagonist for her mental health breakdown. Those pictures of her shaved hair, attacking them with a umbrella, so sad. She was a woman who had simply had enough and lost it.
