In the Telegraph today got to be worth a thread of its own. She is of course right !

OP posts:
SirChenjins · 08/01/2023 10:17

In which case she should have used a different example.

shockthemonkey · 08/01/2023 10:20

Some have also questioned Meghan’s intelligence simply because, in her various interviews and podcasts, she has repeatedly presented herself as highly intelligent, yet in public she has often struggled to communicate clearly. Her “word-salad” answers that say precisely nothing, her inability to differentiate between guttural vs visceral, stereotype vs archetype, decode vs codify. We would never mention these things if Meghan didn’t take every opportunity to remind us of how smart and intelligent she is.

Nitgel · 08/01/2023 10:21

It's a perfect comparison

NerrSnerr · 08/01/2023 10:30

@MarshaBradyo she allows most threads to stand which indicates that she doesn't mind it on MN, but she's allowed to make the obvious observation that some of the posters are deranged.

She doesn't own Reddit or other platforms so doesn't need to comment on them.

I wasn’t asking her to comment on them, I was.

She’s ‘allowed’ to have an opinion, it’s not more valuable than others, and people can draw conclusions on someone who drives profit from it.

creamcoffee · 08/01/2023 10:49

Morestrangethings · 08/01/2023 09:46

Then what are her opinions?

MN is not about the opinions of JR
or any one individual

Morestrangethings · 08/01/2023 10:50

Please stop with the incorrect usage of word salad. Those of us with loved ones, or even probably some on mn, who exhibit the symptom of word salad are not in a good place mentally when it happens. It’s a sign of mental illness or other types of illness. Don’t minimise this by applying it to someone who does not answer the question to your satisfaction.

Word salad may describe a symptom of neurological or psychiatric conditions in which a person attempts to communicate an idea, but words and phrases that may appear to be random and unrelated come out in an incoherent sequence instead.

Oh who said Meghan was suffering from this. Not poor her. She simply doesn't have content to communicate and we get a lot of gobbledegook. Simples

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/01/2023 10:56

Why does she allow it to continue then?

£££££££

Pretty obvious really, in light of what the news will have done to the site use stats

misslonglegs · 08/01/2023 11:05

I’ve read a lot of negative views on MM which do seem to mount up, however I have not seen many, if any, vitriolic ones. It seems as though that’s something whipped up by MM supporters in the face of how unpopular she is on here.

Does seem like Justine is really throwing mumsnetters under the bus here.

Careful, any comments pointing out why you dislike MM are deranged and vitriolic 🙄

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 08/01/2023 11:09

Oh great so now all the real hater loons will find their way here like after Penis Beaker. Thanks Justine (although I doubt you'll care because of the increased ££££). Did she really say 'cis'?

Somebatshitteryonhere · 08/01/2023 11:11

That’s a bit of a Gerald ratner moment, calling the people you rely on deranged is never good business.

misslonglegs · 08/01/2023 11:11

Forthelast · 08/01/2023 10:07

It was in poor taste to compare this story to Madeline McCann in any way.

Yes, it really was.

creamcoffee · 08/01/2023 11:26

i didnt really post on the madeline mccann threads
they were full of aggression

NerrSnerr · 08/01/2023 07:31

She isn't wrong is she? The level of obsession is Insane.

It's fine not to like someone in the public eye- the endless discussions, the folk who insist they know what everyone in the RF is thinking from reading the daily Mail and a few Instagram posts is utterly bonkers.

Well she is wrong, only obsession is on here or the media, because no one in real life cares.

creamcoffee · 08/01/2023 11:30

if you ask people they have opinions on the matter
however mn is full of argumentative posters

That's a point I thought maybe they would put their money where their mouth is and head elsewhere but No it will attract more as they now know they have a " like minded club" waiting.

creamcoffee · 08/01/2023 11:33

@PreparationPreparationPrep
if they dare!
just avoid the threads

Bakeacaketoday73 · 08/01/2023 11:35

Justine is interested in the bottom line of her business - Mumsnet. The more people she gets on here arguing the better. Good on her the Telegraph is good PR.

BUT, we all can see what is going on here, its as plain as the nose on your face.

Harry - Intensely jealous of his sibling, probably with mental health problems, naive as to how his "revelations" will play out, needing money, lack of insight into how much "life costs" when he is out of the Royal bubble, egged on by his new friends who are probably just counting the pennies and laughing at his gullibility. He has been astonishingly indiscreet, and breathtakingly idiotic in what he has disclosed. He's made himself sound like a prize numpty and staggeringly entitled. Utterly lacking self awareness.

Meghan - Red flags galore here, has fallen out with ALL her very large family, none of whom attended her wedding. Regular reports of her "being difficult" imply that she probably IS difficult. You don't get through as many staff as she has done without there being some problem, Sophie, Catherine, Anne, etc etc don't have the same. "Is it because I is black", well no, not really. There is very little that Meghan has seen that hasn't already been dished out to "waity Katy" and she definitely isn't black.
Mumsnetters are probably not far wrong to see an agenda with her - squeeze Harry dry, then divorce him. Frankly even if she did marry him for love, after the book I'm thinking it will all be over. He unfortunately has made them both look like idiots.

Major providers of mass media dance to the beat of the same drum.
The path to The Lords is a well trodden one.

Oh give over, it’s a standard phrase. Or would you like to provide us with a list of words we are permitted to use and have been confirmed, by committee review, not to offend anyone?

Brutally accurate summary and no doubt you’ll be lambasted for it, but I agree.

vera99 · 08/01/2023 11:49

Time to coin the phrase Meghan Derangement Syndrome, MDS. 650 comments under the Telegraph article now - most having a pop at MN for its supposed feminist , left leaning Islington chatterati ways and of course La Markle. This one made me laugh..

Overwhelmingly full of smug middle class lefties. The sort that are unaffected by unfettered immigration as they can still afford mortgages because they earn £100K a year and won't need social housing , their wages won't kept down by imported labour , think Brexit was a disaster because their little treasures can't now go on the Erasmus scheme and they can't stay in their holiday homes for more than a few months at a time , net zero us great because they'll still be able to afford the heating bills , they would like the NHS to work properly but can always afford to go private if needs be and their children don't have to go to a sink school where English is a second language for most pupils because they live in a decent catchment because they can afford the extra £1 million it cost to get a house there and if that doesn't work out well little Ludo and Boudicca can always go to a private school .
