Does anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable with all this Harry stuff?

I don’t know why, but I do.

I don’t even know any of them personally. I’ve never met them.

I have always liked Harry, I have no idea what is going on his life at the minute, but obviously something is.

I’m sure the loss of his mum in such a tragic way when he was so young was awful and his time in Afghanistan was probably terrible too.

I guess nobody knows what is going on between him and the RF, there are two sides to the story, I highly doubt we will hear the RF’s side though so it’s hard to form an opinion of who is wrong and right!

But he just seems to be getting very personal. Everytime I open my Facebook, my feed is just filled with new revelations that the media have found in the leaked copy of his new book. I get that he has issues with his family, but he’s not holding back with the personal insults. It sounds so awful. I don’t know what has meant to have happened between them that he feels the need to belittle them in front of the whole world.

It just feels a bit too much now and a bit uncomfortable. At the end of the day they are his family. Surely he should just pick up the phone to them or better still, fly over to London and sit down at the kitchen table with them and talk the whole thing out?

I feel more uncomfortable with the inner core of nastiness lots of people reveal when commenting about it. Over the last few days there’s been lots of MN posts filled with absolute contempt and loathing including directed at people who for example sit with dying relatives or who have lost a baby and chose to bury the remains. It’s spilled over from criticising one
person to blanket generalised criticism of people dealing with crises in ways other than the poster themselves would choose.

There are people just overflowing with vitriol for their fellow humans and I assume they have to wipe down the computer screen after posting because it’s covered in angry spittle. It’s utterly bizarre given it’s been prompted by a fairly lacklustre series of ‘revelations’ about rich people arguing over which tiara they’d prefer etc.

Yes agree TMI and he is very unwell!

milti · 08/01/2023 00:51

No not one bit

User3456 · 08/01/2023 00:57

Honestly I just think it's a distraction from the other issues going on. I won't click on any links for articles about the Royal Family but as you say OP the headlines can't be avoided, it's everywhere. I don't think any of this is healthy - for any of them.
I think it's all a 'look over there' technique to offer distractions from the NHS crisis, cost of living crisis, energy crisis, strikes, ongoing pandemic, war in Ukraine, climate crisis etc etc.
I'm not going to give the Royals any attention, I am not a Royalist but equally I don't wish them any ill will.

Menomenon · 08/01/2023 00:58

It’s like watching Borat or something similar - I am squirming with embarrassment but can’t really look away.

asblindasabat · 08/01/2023 01:00

I also think that it’s hardly fair as he knows the RF can’t speak out to defend themselves. They just have to stay silent and let him say all this stuff about them.

And I don’t think Diana would approve of his actions, if she was still alive. I know she too did interviews and spoke out about the RF, but I don’t even think she would go this far.

I guess he has the right to speak out but he could have at least not revealed their private business and insulted them on a personal level.

jtaeapa · 08/01/2023 01:05

yes, it makes me worry for him

he needs good advisors - anyone who had advised him on his current path is clearly a moron

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/01/2023 01:05

I agree. It is all far too personal and I worry that, if he is unwell, the fact that his book has not been received as he expected and the current ridicule will be hard for him to bear

clyspa · 08/01/2023 01:07

I'm not sure that Harry or his publishers are trying to distract anyone from the cost of living/ NHS crisis or is that a thinly veiled insinuation that the royal family/government somehow got Harry to write this book, release it now, do these interviews and pre-release it in Spain so the great unwashed don't somehow notice what's going on in their own lives?

Harry/publishers are trying to make a lot of money and they can do that if people are interested and buy his book.

You don't have to be interested or buy his book.

In other news, people are capable of holding more than one thought in their head at the same time.....

charabang · 08/01/2023 01:07

I think Harry has opened himself and the Royal Family to up to ridicule. It is deeply uncomfortable listening. The amount of memes and tiktoks I've seen over the past few days is incredible. I'm also praying the RF don't respond as the quicker it goes away the better for everyone.

asblindasabat · 08/01/2023 01:10

I just find it uncomfortable because these are real people that he is talking about. I think there is fault on both sides tbh but the RF aren’t slagging him off in public so it’s not fair that he is doing it to them.

i think he should be discussing this in private with them. It’s one thing to be annoyed with hem but I find it awful that he’s now revealing their private information and just being nasty to them on a personal level.

Also this is an opinion board - someone has put their personal life/perspective into the public domain and that invites comment.

I prefer balanced or illustrated viewpoints (I think this because abc but to be fair I can see d, e too) but to close down opinion by amassing it all as just one think (it's all nasty) is lazy

Dont read what you aren't interested in.

MarshaMelrose · 08/01/2023 01:12

I'm not worried for him and I don't think he's unwell. He wrote a book and then pulled it. Not because he regretted anything in it, but because during the Jubilee, he realised if he published it while the Queen was alive, he'd be toast. So he sat and waited for the Queen to die and as soon as she was gone, he wrote an extra chapter and sent ot to the publishers. He doesn't regret any of it.
He's not unwell. This is just who he is.

I'm sure seeing his book at number 1 and counting his 20m pieces of silver will help him bear the ridicule.

mackthepony · 08/01/2023 01:15

I think he obviously has quite serious issues.

It's all just a bit much

No. I was a therapist for over 10 years, his behaviour is pretty standard.🤷‍♀️

ChangingTheChannel · 08/01/2023 01:18

It doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. He’s seems to be telling his life story, he’s allowed to do that.

He removed himself from public life because he wanted his privacy and has proceeded to sell out everyone he has ever known. He wanted a life away from press yet has profiteered from every opportunity with the press.

clyspa · 08/01/2023 01:20

In general but misstrip if I have to be specific.

It’s a shit show of his own making. These are the consequences of your actions.
