Does anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable with all this Harry stuff?

I don’t even know any of them personally. I’ve never met them.

I have always liked Harry, I have no idea what is going on his life at the minute, but obviously something is.

I’m sure the loss of his mum in such a tragic way when he was so young was awful and his time in Afghanistan was probably terrible too.

I guess nobody knows what is going on between him and the RF, there are two sides to the story, I highly doubt we will hear the RF’s side though so it’s hard to form an opinion of who is wrong and right!

But he just seems to be getting very personal. Everytime I open my Facebook, my feed is just filled with new revelations that the media have found in the leaked copy of his new book. I get that he has issues with his family, but he’s not holding back with the personal insults. It sounds so awful. I don’t know what has meant to have happened between them that he feels the need to belittle them in front of the whole world.

It just feels a bit too much now and a bit uncomfortable. At the end of the day they are his family. Surely he should just pick up the phone to them or better still, fly over to London and sit down at the kitchen table with them and talk the whole thing out?

to be fair, this is how he was bought up and it is all he has ever known.

And he co-operated with Jonathan Dimbleby to tell everyone how awful his parents were and how miserable he was. I could feel sorry for him if he had learned from it but he's actually been worse than they were.

Synopsis is as follows:

Harry overshares the most ludicrous snippets of knobs, drugs, singing seals, chess, Nando’s, fake best man, window-blocking staff, dog bowls, stallion mounting sexual encounters and wetting himself hours before his first date with his wife. I have absolutely no idea what really happened but I do know what Harry thinks happened and according to his beliefs, his actions make total sense.

So did Son of Sam's! I don't think that's a defence to him not being crazy.

Personally, I don't think he's mentally ill. He's made decisions about the manuscript that benefitted him. We know from his own words that his family have tried to reconcile with him but he's having none of it. He just lacks the ability to see anyone's point of view but his own, and to accept responsibility for anything. That doesn't make him ill. But it does make him unpleasant and difficult to deal with.

Like you say we don't know the extent of any leaks but we have lots of examples of where they've had great press, of where stories have been denied by the palace, ofvwhere stories have been scotched and we know from their own communication team that they have leaked stories themselves. It's a royal pastime.

Yes, this is probably the most foolish thing he's said. He'll be taken the piss out of for a long time for some of his disclosures, but this was so dangerous. Surely discretion was part of his training.

It's the worst of humanity to me.
People frothing to rip someone they have never met to shreds.
What do they do to the people they actually know?
I'm worried these angry people are out there in society where I live, where my children live.
Personally I don't give two shits about any type of celebrity, which is basically what they are.
Just don't give them oxygen if you don't like them.
But all these different threads of Mumsnet are just wow, the hatred. The venom.
I'm starting to feel for them now, they are only human beings like us all.

Of course he did...Harry is his child! I didn't see him stopping it! He could easily have done so if he fancied putting his child's welfare before keeping up appearances.

That maybe....but being parented badly does not automatically condone bad parenting.
Perhaps instead he should be using his experiences to have empathy with Harry, not putting him through the same heartache.
