The royal family

I am genuinely worried for Harry's mental health now after this

Give it another week of worldwide chewing over his words and all the drama it's creating, I'm genuinely worried for Harry. How can you go anywhere and hold your head up after you've opened yourself to such ridicule? He might want an un-royal life but he is a prince non-the-less. Where's the dignity? He really, really needs help. I sincerely hope it gets it. The fallout from this won't be forgotten in a hurry. And to top it off, how can he make his family truly secure now?

Personally I think it’s outrageous that MM has let him, even encouraged him, to go wrote this stuff and go ahead with publishing it.

He’s clearly unwell, in so many ways. She will have studied every word of this text in detail and told him it was a good idea. What was she thinking, if we all need people around us to protect us from bad decisions our partners should be the first. She’s the one person who could have stopped him.

the fact that her mouthpiece Scobie has had virtually nothing to say on the backlash suggests that there is serious upset in the Sussex camp about how the book has been received.

I’ve said it before and will again I think he’s been exploited, by Netflix, by the publishers, and by his wife… who is the one person he thinks has his back but let all this happen.

MM a total narcissist and is coercive, manipulative and abusive. Harry is completely under her spell unfortunately. She's turned him completely against his family and friends (text book practice of a anarchistic abusive partner) and is dictating his whole life to him. MM is 100% behind the Harry of the last few years. He is utterly trapped.

And when she's got what she wants from him/got bored MM will discard him like a used condom, and then he will be alone and utterly ruined. All the therapy in the world won't be able to fix him. If he's lucky his family may extend an olive branch, but seriously he's taken so many shots at them now that the may not be willing to. Not sure I would be.

Surely this must put paid to any political ambitions MM may have? Her character judgement seems shockingly poor, to be involved with, if not party to, such blatant indiscretion?

I dunno, @gulliblestravels, think of some of the recent politicians. Trump (hardly the soul of discretion), Boris (ditto), Macron (underage relationship), the list goes on.

You don't need to be special or have a well-respected partner to have political success!

PeekAtYou · 07/01/2023 01:37

I think that blaming MM is lazy. While I suspect that she read the final draft, I wouldn't be surprised if they have an agreement to support each others work and not interfere. Surely the biggest pro of leaving The Firm is people not telling you what to do any more.
I've said it to posters on here. You can't cure your husbands. They need to realise that they are ill and work on their problems to get better. Nobody else can do it for you.
MM earned the family money with her podcasts and interviews for the podcasts. Harry will be feeling the pressure to earn more than his BetterUp salary. They have an expensive lifestyle which needs money coming in.

I am very surprised that there's been no comment by the ghost writer. He's award winning and the world is laughing at many passages like the bit where H lost his virginity. In order to uphold his reputation I would he expecting some sort of defence or clarification if he didn't write all of it.

ItWasDobbinAtTheMareAndSpare · 07/01/2023 01:38

He’s gone from looking uncomfortable in an Oprah interview to telling the world about mounting a filly in a pub field. It’s quite the unraveling. Shades of Britney. Although I suppose the book will have been a long time in the making.

PeekAtYou · 07/01/2023 01:38

@gulliblestravels "Hunter Biden's laptop" and Hunter Biden himself hasn't stopped his father becoming POTUS.

I thought the same, "Poor me, look what I've had to put up with, I've tried to get him help but" the groundwork is being laid right before us...

Agree. this is the beginning of the end of the marriage. Meghan will not allow herself or her children to be put in danger. Nor will she allow this needy man child get in the way of her political ambitions. This is her ticket out. Stupid man.

GilesIreland · 07/01/2023 01:40

We misheard. He didn’t want his privacy.

Rather that we should his privates see. At least in our imagination.

It’s sad.

Admittedly I have been laughing away, but as the reveals have gotten more and more surreal, feeling a wee bit guilty. Hope they really are as in love as they say, and are loyal. He’s going to need a lot of hand holding. I feel mortified on his behalf just thinking of the backlash.

onlylarkin · 07/01/2023 01:47

@PeekAtYou great post! I agree.

I keep thinking that something is not right with this leak. The author is award winning and has a long reputation.

Isn't it just currently translated from the Spanish? The original version is hopefully worded better.

onlylarkin · 07/01/2023 01:55

I hope so @Funkyblues101 .

BreadInCaptivity · 07/01/2023 01:59

To be honest the parallel I see is more with Andrew (no, I'm not remotely suggesting H has behaved as badly before anyone wants to go there).

Specifically the lack of intellectual insight and self reflection.

After the Maitlis interview she is on record as being shocked at how well A professed it had all gone, despite her being very aware it was for him, a PR disaster.

In that fashion I can't understand how H must have read drafts of this book and also lacked similar insight (and more bafflingly M also who is far more PR savvy - did she even see it? Who knows?)

It speaks of a serious disconnect from real world opinion/life experiences and not a MH issue.

Both of them (A and H) have talked about issues that demonstrate their lack of understanding and empathy for the lives of the majority of the population.

A talking about being a decent person and ending his relationship with Epstein face to face and H talking about people he killed being "chess pieces" is one of many examples.

One lesson I think the RF need to learn pretty quickly is to better prepare the siblings of the future monarch to live their own lives and stop cosseting them to the point of a level of indulgence that turns them into self indulgent time bombs.

Jordosky · 07/01/2023 01:59

He shouldn’t have burnt the bridges. He hasn’t even revealed anything big enough to justify such an epic falling out with all of them. It’s all petty and minor, just a list of perceived slights. Not seeing his grandparents during their twilight years, all for what. Looks like his family had been protecting him the whole time and he’s now swapped his family for an echo chamber full of people exploiting his trauma and tawdry family gossip. He could have had his new life abroad and stayed on good terms with his family. What was he thinking.

SnowlayRoundabout · 07/01/2023 02:05

I feel sorry for his children when they start googling Daddy in a few years' time.

Verbena17 · 07/01/2023 02:07

🤔 I reckon there’s much more to this than meets the eye.
The move to Canada/US.
The Netflix Show
The ok (very out of character for Harry).

I’m thinking this could be playing out for a reason and at some point in the future, we’ll discover what.

Jordosky · 07/01/2023 02:12

I’m intrigued ?

Doesn’t seem like it’s been well thought out to me?

What could “this” possibly be though and “playing out” for what possible reason?

I do not see how the future will ever be good for this man child. Sadly I can’t actually see a future for him at all. He has marked a target on his back, which (after his revelations) will seriously endanger both his and his family’s lives.

Can’t put my finger on it but it all seems very odd.
Usually a very shy man and very private in many aspects of his life, none of the last year or so seems to make sense.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think Harry & Meghan have a part to play in the bringing to light of something much more nefarious… to do with the family perhaps. Something they’re not a part of and don’t agree with but which, being out of UK, they can bring to light.

Just a theory and probably completely incorrect.

Canabelievethis · 07/01/2023 02:24

He's going to end up being bumped off in a tunnel or taken out by Taliban at this rate. Someone needs to advise him and remind MM this isn't a follow on drama to Suits. Both of them lost the plot.

Jordosky · 07/01/2023 02:26

I think if they’d had any thing to reveal they would have. He scrapped the barrel for that book chucked in anything he could think of just to hit below the belt. He’s done himself up like a kipper

Jordosky · 07/01/2023 02:29

They’ve overplayed their hands. On another thread a poster described their dynamic really well. As infatuated as they may be, their dynamic isn’t healthy they aren’t bringing out the best in each other. There is also an element of people pleasing, they don’t call each other out or contradict the perceived slight, they humoured each other and they’ve lost so much probably haven’t realised it yet.
