The royal family

I am genuinely worried for Harry's mental health now after this

Give it another week of worldwide chewing over his words and all the drama it's creating, I'm genuinely worried for Harry. How can you go anywhere and hold your head up after you've opened yourself to such ridicule? He might want an un-royal life but he is a prince non-the-less. Where's the dignity? He really, really needs help. I sincerely hope it gets it. The fallout from this won't be forgotten in a hurry. And to top it off, how can he make his family truly secure now?

I think it's all very misguided, I'm surprised if she didn't read the book before it was published, but you can't blame her for.his book. The responsibility.for.his actions is with him, which is what you'd be telling any other wife.on here.

But being the spare is only shitty if you really want to be number one and your jealous of whoever is.

If you ignore Andrew’s near criminal record…he’s had a whale of a time as the spare, getting involved in whatever he wanted, doing as much or as little work as he wanted, titles and houses for the kids, no money worries…what’s so bad about being the spare?

Who complains about being hard done by as number 2 in a hereditary monarchy - who doesn’t realise how utterly self absorbed that makes you sound?

So true. I met PA once on one of his overseas visits where all he has to do was turn up and be PA, and I can confirm he was living his very best life as a spare.

StormzyinaTCup · 07/01/2023 00:39

I wouldn't be in the RF for anything but if I had to chose a position I'd pick Harry's position in the family over William's any day.

NameChangeObvsx1 · 07/01/2023 00:42

NONE of us know why Harry has revealed so much, other than the fact that since he’s left the protection of the RF he’s got very little security and needs money. More money than any of us has ever known, but money he’s used to and no doubt needs now he’s made these assertions.

please stop blaming MM in all of this: it smacks of misogyny.

Plus. We don’t live his life; we don’t know what’s going on or why. All the people saying he needs help: wtf? Who the fuck are you to armchair psychologise?

I would LOVE to be the spare! All the privilege, none of the responsibility PW is facing and having access to the best of absolutely everything. Healthcare, education, travelling. You could do so much good for charity, preserving wildlife, campaigning, or even just live a quiet life behind the scenes if you can't be arsed. Literally anything you want.

Sugarfree23 · 07/01/2023 00:32

@CarPoor but surely Harry is more than capable of spinning it, he has all the advantages of being RF, but with the freedom of not being expected to be King.
His spouse didn't need to become a Working Royal.
He could have stayed in the Army or moved to the Navy. Andrew did 20 years with Royal Navy. He could have done Air Ambulance like William.

He really shouldn't feel hard done by.

He shouldn't feel hard done by because he's incredibly privelaged, but I think it's natural to feel jealous

He's grown up heavily in the eye of the media. Way more than probably previous royals. Hes been expected to perform to the public as a royal and behave in a certain way from birth. His mother died very publicy and the funeral was broadcast to half the world, and again he was expected to perform. The only person who could even slightly understand is William, but then his brother is going to be King and Harry is just the spare, essentially a minor royal.

I think I would be insanely angry in that scenario, and yes jealous. I also highly doubt Charles is a warm and loving father. There's a lot of pressure put on them from the family from very early on. And I'm sure previous siblings have felt the same but luckily no daily mail or Oprah to document everything and allow them to publish stupid books.

I am not blaming her for the book. It is all his own doing. But I truly believe that this will be the beginning of the end for their marriage. This is not what she signed up for and NOT what she will tolerate. Her ambitions go further than this.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 07/01/2023 00:47

CarPoor · 07/01/2023 00:26

Wouldn't you be raging with jealousy?

Like genuinely if my brother was king of England and I was just the shitty spare I would be raging. Every fucking day on MN there's disputes about inheritance, my mother treats my siblings differently threads. That's that issue multiplied by 1000.

A situation like Harrg is completely inevitable in this modern world, if not him it would be someone else down the line. Honestly you'd have to be a saint to not feel jealousy in that situation.

Honestly no I wouldn’t because I would have all the riches and freedom I desired without the restrictions and responsibilities of being head if state, I could devote my life to causes really close to my heart, make a real difference with the platform I have whilst still living an incredibly privileged life, pretty much like Princess Anne, she seems to have coped ok.

JungleJungle · 07/01/2023 00:51

Why are so many people claiming to be genuinely worried about him? I'm worried about the cost of living and people who have such severe mental health problems due to having nothing, that they are taking their lives. I work with people with severe mental health issues and nobody gives a toss about them. Wish the royals would all go away.

Redblanky · 07/01/2023 00:55

Why would you be jealous of the brother with all the responsibility when you have the money and freedom to do whatever you want with your life? Quite literally he can do anything. He can go and live in a hut in the woods.or he can dedicate his life to great charitable works, or anything inbetween, all in the knowledge that he's financially secure and he has the connections to make whatever he wants happen.

gulliblestravels · 07/01/2023 00:57

Surely this must put paid to any political ambitions MM may have? Her character judgement seems shockingly poor, to be involved with, if not party to, such blatant indiscretion?

NoisyWitness · 07/01/2023 01:00

You wanted to make another thread about him so made out you’re concerned for his mental health. 😂

Sugarfree23 · 07/01/2023 01:02

@JungleJungle he might have lots of money and two fab kids.
But is he truly happy?
He's opened himself up to a huge amount of ridicule. Alienated himself from his family and friends.
There are plenty of rich and famous people who have committed suicide or died a premature death due to using alcohol or drugs to escape.

TheaBrandt · 07/01/2023 01:02

Whatever he was paid it wasn’t worth it. I honestly would turn down all that money to retain my dignity. I would rather live normally on an average salary than in a mansion but having the whole world sniggering at my utter stupidity and sexual antics.

I think it proves the royal family concept just doesn’t work in the modern era. It needs to fade out it’s a cringey embarrassing anachronism.

Bingo (finally some sense)

Some inconsequential, dysfunctional family with no discernible talent who mean diddly squat to your daily life... ”I’m really worried”...like feck you are.

Harry is clearly not the full shilling. He doesn’t feel embarrassment hence will say literally anything that pops out of his little brain (it’s well documented he’s not very bright). He’s also been brought up in a circus so through no fault of his own he has a warped view of reality. Marrying another unhinged person won’t help him one iota though. He needed a stable spouse, instead he’s got one as bonkers as him. Having said all that who gives a monkeys.

I agree with you on this. She signed up for something more elevated. It must be awful in their house tonight. I hope someone's keeping Harry safe.

Yes, lots of people die by suicide but I don't sit around worrying about famous people that have mental health problems until they do. It's all just a bit weird and pathetic.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 07/01/2023 01:15

I don’t understand how so many people are certain that his current behaviour is a sign of significant MH problems. IMO his current behaviour is the real him. The Palace have covered for him for years (the same way they did for the far worse Andrew) and now they’ve left him to be himself in full view of the world’s media. He’s a knob, has always been a knob, and now he’s decided to let everyone in on the fact that he’s a knob. It doesn’t mean he’s in a MH crisis. It isn’t Meghan’s doing. This is always who he was.

notangelinajolie · 07/01/2023 01:17

No sympathy for PH. My sympathy lies with his kids and Meghan (much as I dislike her (a lot)), his family back in the UK, his serving comrades in the armed forces and the good people of the UK. Non of whom deserve the inevitable repercussions of the Taliban and their extremist supporters.
The sheer stupidity of this man renders me speechless. What kind of a man is he ? He has literally drawn a target on his kids backs?

Meghan - you need to LTB

DomesticShortHair · 07/01/2023 01:21

I feel sorry for his private security team, who’s chances of going home at the end of each day to see their families have just become less. I feel sorry for any innocent bystanders who, if an attack on H occurs, just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, all because of his ill-judged and reckless comments.

Funkyblues101 · 07/01/2023 01:26

His mental health? He's shown himself to be incredibly thick, spoilt, malicious and spiteful as well as turning himself into a laughing stock. Mental health has nothing to do with it, just good (bad, in this case) old fashioned character.
He probably doesn't even realise how embarrassed he should be.
He has also shown himself to be totally unconcerned with anyone else's mental health, just his own.
Save your sympathy for someone who deserves it.

MM is using this all as evidence as to why she has to divorce him and have custody of the children. (In the next 2 years...)

I thought the same, "Poor me, look what I've had to put up with, I've tried to get him help but" the groundwork is being laid right before us...

TattieBogle12 · 07/01/2023 01:30

Meghan sings at seals. Bonkers.

Famousinlove · 07/01/2023 01:33

Just view him as a chess piece, that should ease your worries.

Powertoyou · 07/01/2023 01:34

Yes , agree with everything you say. Meghan winds Harry up and off he goes. Meghan sits backs and watches it all explode.
Harry needs rescuing and serious help.
