They announced the pregnancy at Eugenie’s wedding

I fucking told everyone this at the time! Everyone was like “no way, the press are just being mean to Meghan she would never do that”

Harry has confirmed she did.

DICK MOVE from the two of them. I can see the MN thread now “it was my wedding and my bastard cousin stood up and announced the pregnancy and stole my limelight”

If Meghan wants a political career she needs to consider how she and her husband present. Harry isn’t helping her.

I feel they consider themselves to have a divine right to adoration and respect. The more they put out the more they will be picked apart.

Royalty and celebrity is a strange mix.

I think there are two different, but connected things going on here. Firstly, Meghan and Harry used the opportunity of the wedding to tell some family members that they were expecting a baby - Harry has confirmed that. We don’t know how widely that was spread at the wedding that day, or course.

Secondly, Meghan dressed to attend the wedding in a way that was bound to raise press and public speculation that she was pregnant. Which it duly did - see some contemporaneous tweets below.

This. I think that the problem was more to do with the way Meghan’s coat was buttoned to make it look like she was hugely pregnant. This took a lot of the media attention off of the wedding.

IIRC it was rumoured that it was revenge for tiaragate, as Eugenie got to wear the tiara that Meghan wanted for her wedding.

Did they know? I don't think that's very common knowledge.

I'm child less/free.
I know what day it is.
How hard is it to get your staff to google if you want to avoid offending people anyway?

I have two children and I don't know when International Baby Loss Day is (yes, I could Google, but the point is, I don't know off the top of my head). It really never occurred to me to check that it was any kind of baby/pregnancy loss day before I announced either of my pregnancies. If it's ever occurred to anyone I know, they haven't mentioned it.

Why didn't Meghan get the tiara? All I can find is that she wasn't allowed to take it away for her hair styling trial, not that she wasn't allowed to wear it at all...?

Meghan did get to wear a tiara for her wedding. The rumour was that Meghan wanted a different tiara, which was the one that Eugenie had already chosen for her own wedding, so Meghan wasn’t allowed to wear it.

If that’s true , fair enough as Eugenie postponed her wedding to let Harry have his first .

ReneBumsWombats · 08/01/2023 16:13

Why was it even out as an option if Eugenie had already chosen it?

Maybe she hadn't finalised her choice at the time.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 08/01/2023 16:16

I don't know if it was an option. If the story is true I can see why both M and E wanted that tiara. I much prefer it to the usual diamond glittery ones.

ReneBumsWombats · 08/01/2023 16:39

It's beautiful, but I actually think the one Meghan did wear suited her more.
