I fucking told everyone this at the time! Everyone was like “no way, the press are just being mean to Meghan she would never do that”

Harry has confirmed she did.

DICK MOVE from the two of them. I can see the MN thread now “it was my wedding and my bastard cousin stood up and announced the pregnancy and stole my limelight”

Political aspirations will be next after Harry.

The sky's the limit with this one.

Honestly, I regret the day I said no one wants to read his book.
I take it all back.

This is absolutely gold

I am not going to buy the book ,but I have reserved a copy at the Library and honestly the queue is a mile long to read it . I have never seen reservations that long .I'm not giving H&M my much needed cash .😁

This book seems to have a lot of stuff that really doesn't paint Meghan in a good light, but Harry doesn't seem to realise that. He seems to think it was perfectly reasonable to tell.someone they had baby brain etc

Apparently the Americans (which is where the money is and therefore what counts for them) are lapping this up and H&M very much winning the PR battle over there - at least that what the commentator on R4 this morning said.

Thanks that's interesting, I've seen a lot of positive reaction to H&M on American social media as well.

I don't think H&M are as unpopular and therefore nuts/shooting themselves in the foot as it looks from over here in the UK bubble.

Book isn't out yet though is it? Are the americans reacting positively to excerpts or...?

GrinAndVomit · 07/01/2023 07:30

The more stories Harry confirms, the more it looks like he has been completely manipulated (both by Meghan and their advisors) for financial gain.
He’s a complete drip.

only good thing to come from this is that this non white, American actor, may just be the thing that topples the monarchy. Oh the irony!

It won't topple the monarchy don't be silly, they've weathered far worse than this over the 1000 years, in fact support for the RF is high because of these two numpties, own goal indeed...

In the past people believed in the divine right of kings. That was a completely different time.

This could absolutely topple the monarchy of there was a vote. Sorry.

fajitaaaa · 07/01/2023 08:03

Ooh no you don't do that

No it won't - popularity of monarchy was up (and Sussexes down) before the leaks and this will have continued that trend. There won't be referendum until there have been years of polling showing support for a different arrangement. Remember that Australia showed what was thought to be rock solid support for becoming a republican the polls throughout the 1990s and everyone thought the referendum was a formailty. Until 'retain' won

And divine right ended in 1688 - I don't know why it keeps being mentioned on here (where numerous poster always point out why its wrong/irrelevant) so assume it must be doing the rounds on other sites where people are less familiar with British history

rarge · 07/01/2023 08:25

This is why it was mentioned 👍

I didn't say will, I said it can. Monarchy is not infallible, you need to accept that. And I'm not even anti-monarchy saying this.

trucklebrunch · 07/01/2023 08:30

The coat made her look very pregnant on the day. I didn't realise there was no baby bump yet.

GrinAndVomit · 07/01/2023 08:39

I don’t think this will harm the monarchy. They don’t come off especially badly.
In fact, I think it’s made some anti-royalists have a little sympathy for them. Harry is only damaging his own and his wife’s credibility.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 07/01/2023 08:45

On its own, announcing your pregnancy at someone else’s wedding is a bit crass but not the worst crime in the world. However, added to all of the revelations from the book (Harrys own words) it just paints a picture of a pair of self-obsessed narcissists who have completely lost touch with reality. They’re in a mess of their own making.

Pottyaboutplants · 07/01/2023 10:43

Ikeatears · 07/01/2023 02:50

This.
I haven't read the book yet, as I'm pretty sure most posters haven't, so I'll reserve judgement on some of it, but the extract I've read about the pregnancy doesn't state that they 'announced' it to the whole wedding party, as is being implied.
It sounds like they quietly told his father, his brother and his sister-in-law.

Now you are just spoiling the fun of the crazies on this thread. How dare you write a reasonable post. It has no place on this thread.

Serenster · 07/01/2023 10:52

I think there are two different, but connected things going on here. Firstly, Meghan and Harry used the opportunity of the wedding to tell some family members that they were expecting a baby - Harry has confirmed that. We don’t know how widely that was spread at the wedding that day, or course.

Secondly, Meghan dressed to attend the wedding in a way that was bound to raise press and public speculation that she was pregnant. Which it duly did - see some contemporaneous tweets below.

Ohnonevermind · 07/01/2023 10:58

I was pregnant at a family wedding. I thought it would be crass to announce it on the day so waited.

I was easily able to spend the whole day not drinking (while often holding a glass so it looked like I was ) and I was about 8 weeks.

I can understand being excited about a pregnancy but give the bride and groom
their day.

i remember the furore about the coat, it turns out it was ‘attention seeking nonsense’

x2boys · 07/01/2023 11:06

Isn't that where people do at family occasions announce pregnancies ,engagements et c ,my sister had the audacity to be in Labour with her second child when one of our cousins got marrie d( she was in hospital not at the do!)/everybody was interested in wether she given birth yet including the bride
does anyone think Eugenie gives a shit?
Or is it just the H&M haters on here f being offended on her behalf🤔

BethJ62 · 07/01/2023 11:11

I was at a wedding once where the best man used his speech to ask his girlfriend to marry him !
The silence that followed was excruciating.

Well obviously that's very inappropriate and rude and making it alll.about him.Did she say yes😅?
however telling a few family members you are expecting a baby is a very different thing ,I have a large family ,wedding he ,christening et c are the places where we hear wider family need like pregnancies.

It was a set up . The girlfriend thought she should have been a bridesmaid but the bride only had 1 ( her sister). She was also annoyed that she was sitting with friends rather than the top table .
Hence the public proposal.

BethJ62 · 07/01/2023 12:15

Talking of weddings , Garry is now saying he wasn’t William’s best man . So who was that ginger headed chap standing beside him in WA ? Plus his “ heartfelt “ speech was reported at the time .

BethJ62 · 07/01/2023 12:16

*Harry

She definitely looked pregnant, it was not the outfit.

She purposely wore her coat in a way to make the press speculate. She also wore black and the same designer of her wedding gown to the same venue. She is an attention grabbing madam. If any member of the RF had done the same to her it would have been racially motivated.

Of course, there won't be a vote so this is just pure speculation. And the RF weathered both Charles' and Diana's books, as well as Finding Freedom more recently (and probably other, less well-known ones from less senior royals that I can't list because I don't know if them). They will weather this too.
