Harry reveals Charles carries a teddy because of childhood bullying

According to Maureen Callahan, Harry writes that Charles takes his childhood teddy bear everywhere due to the emotional scars he bears from childhood bullying.

As she writes: "Know what's pitiful? Taking the private pain and vulnerabilities of those closest to you, [and] mocking them for public consumption and profit."

That is not Harry's story to tell. It is Charles. It is intensely private.

Furthermore, I don't want to know that William is circumcised, how or where or why Harry lost his virginity, that H is fixated on his "mummy", that he thinks Meghan is "magic" and why, none of it.

Harry is intensely sick. The resentments he harbors, the overwhelming jealousy, the rage, the appalling lack of character and intellect. He’s really showing himself up.

If your the sort that has stsff then it's probably normal. If you stay a a posh hotel.youll probably have the bed turned down for you.

Because Mr Bear will have had a busy day bear-ing and needs to go to bed earlier than his best friend - so he’s tucked up
dreaming of adventures. Clearly.

Capri3 🥰. He's mine and well over half a century old.

😊 Mine’s around the same age. I have no idea who bought him for me, but I can’t remember a time before he was with me. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/01/2023 20:38

Will look forward to seeing him!

I have the same teddy! Over 50 years old. My DD sill has hers at 32 years and sniffs it when she’s feeling low. Just feel sorry for KC now and William. In the past I wasn’t fussed about them either way.

Jean67 · 07/01/2023 22:15

My DH who is in his 60s has his childhood teddy on his bedside table. I'll never forget the night his mum died (he was in his late 50s) as he took the teddy into bed with him and wept. I don't have a single childhood toy. Not my thing but we're all different. Harry is wicked and cruel and it's appalling that he's betraying his dad's privacy.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/01/2023 22:32

Hey, a teddy gang!

Remaker · 07/01/2023 22:58

@Jean67 that made me cry. Teddies give such comfort.

I think this book is going to backfire on PH in terms of public opinion. He will continue to blame the British media for writing negatively about him - but he’s the one now serving them up all the material on a platter.

StephieSlade · 07/01/2023 22:58

I'm 38 and still have Bonnie Bowtie bunny, who I've had since I was two 😀😀. Harry is definitely going too far with private conversations 🙈😠🙈😠!

For those who don't have their own childhood teddies, you only have to watch a programme like The Repair Shop to see what memories and feelings adult people have for their elderly teddies. Whilst this is not new news about Charles, it is particularly spiteful to raise it in Harry's Burn Book in an attempt to belittle a man suffering recent bereavement, the sorrow of his family falling apart and the stress of high office. Harry comes across as so very, very small.

Very surprised that that princes’ circumcisions are deemed newsworthy. It is very common for English boys from an upper class background to be circumcised (even though it’s not in the rest of the population). It would be far more surprising if the princes were not circumcised.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/01/2023 23:03

StephieSlade, Bonnie Bowtie on her quilt {{{{}}}} 😍

MoirasSaggyBundles · 07/01/2023 23:04

And who, amongst the Hollywood elite set that attended the wedding, would want to have any relationship with H&M beyond the very superficial after this tell all? How can anyone trust them. Courtney Cox has got dragged into the book, I believe, for simply lending her house to Harry and his mates, who rewarded her generosity with a drug fuelled party. I wonder whether he asked her permission to include her name?

KSM87 · 07/01/2023 23:05

It’s great that the King still has his childhood teddy. Nothing wrong with that.

SapphireSeptember · 07/01/2023 23:06

@Coxspurplepippin Aww, that's adorable! ❤️ Happy teddy bears, who've been cherished. I always think teddy bears that are well loved are a bit alive, I can't think of any other way to say it. They're not just objects to me.

trucklebrunch · 07/01/2023 23:09

Selling intensely private snippets of his closest family members, being nasty about his brother's appearance...what a vile and openly hateful man. He's really trying to cause maximum hurt to his family.

Isn't he supposed to be a mental health advocate?

SapphireSeptember · 07/01/2023 23:09

@StephieSlade Your bunny is so cute!

It's newsworthy ONLY because Harry deemed it newsworthy enough to include in his book. One of several times he mentions his penis and its suffering. Do you really expect people to read the book and just ignore the fact that the King's son is repeatedly rattling on about his peen, in an unprecedented and sensationalist tell all book designed to try to destroy his family and garner sympathy for himself?

You should read the Velveteen Rabbit! It's a lovely book about just what you have described.

It is old news about Charles’s Teddy and how it goes everywhere with him.

i remember reading about how his valet always put it into the bed in Charles’s dressing room, with its paws tucked over the bedding.

I agree. I have read this before.

I agree. I have read this before.

It's the first time though that I've seen it linked to his being bullied at Gordonstoun and thus significance to him.

What makes that OK for Harry to mention in a book about "his truth"? Why would it be important?

SapphireSeptember · 07/01/2023 23:18

@shreddies I read that recently, (I was in the library with my friend and her daughter, and we were in the kids' section.) It made me cry, but it's beautiful.

Everyone, this is Tubsy, so called because she's a tubby teddy bear. ❤️ I named her when I was about five, but I've had her since I was born in 1988. (Also outing, don't care. And I have a Harry Potter duvet cover. 😁 )

DH and I had a reading from The Velveteen Rabbit at our wedding. Probably a bit naff in retrospect, but I love the story and the sentiment.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/01/2023 23:25

Tubsy is beautiful. Is she wearing a velvet growbag? Tres chic.

That’s really sad @londonmummy1966 , I used to do the same.
unfortunately when my mother found me talking to my beloved teddy she threw it on the fire.

My Mum threw away my comfort blanket. I still remember wretchedly searching for it for hours. I turned my pillow case into a secret one to cope. Still have an old pillow case that I snuggle under my nose when I’m tired and sad. Not ashamed to say it but it is such a private thing for me. I don’t blame my Mum -she was section when I was 10 - but I still feel the damage of this and much else. My parents made many mistakes due to their damage but clearly loved me to the best of their ability - they didn’t mean to damage me.

SapphireSeptember · 07/01/2023 23:30

@Coxspurplepippin Tubsy said thank you!

It's an old top that belonged to my younger sister, purple velvet and black lace, and just the right size to be a dress for a teddy bear. 😊
