Harry reveals Charles carries a teddy because of childhood bullying

According to Maureen Callahan, Harry writes that Charles takes his childhood teddy bear everywhere due to the emotional scars he bears from childhood bullying.

As she writes: "Know what's pitiful? Taking the private pain and vulnerabilities of those closest to you, [and] mocking them for public consumption and profit."

That is not Harry's story to tell. It is Charles. It is intensely private.

Furthermore, I don't want to know that William is circumcised, how or where or why Harry lost his virginity, that H is fixated on his "mummy", that he thinks Meghan is "magic" and why, none of it.

Harry is intensely sick. The resentments he harbors, the overwhelming jealousy, the rage, the appalling lack of character and intellect. He’s really showing himself up.

@AliceOlive
only according to a journalist on the radio this morning. i was surprised

I mean, the kardashians became rich and famous for nothing, so maybe. But IRL no one mentions them. I am sure my DH wishes I would stop, too.

I was badly bullied at school when I was young (still have a damaged eye from where my face was smashed down on a coat hook at the age of 9). I was not allowed to discuss it with my parents as it was something I should be able to cope with. I used to tell my teddy about it. As I got older my bear became something I could look at as a reminder that "this too will pass" - especially important when I was in the depths of PND. It still lives in my room and still sometimes serves that purpose on a difficult day. I find it appalling that Harry should broadcast to the world that his father has something similar. Such a personal thing and no doubt rakes up some of his father's horrible memories of being bullied at school as bullying is, at the bottom, humiliation as much as intimidation.

I’m sorry that you had such a tough time @londonmummy1966 and it’s testament to your strength of character that you’ve come through.
At least you had the option of weather to tellk people about why you’ve still got your childhood teddy, and it’s significance to you; something that Harry’s denied his father. IMO it doesn’t matter that some of the stuff he’s said was already in the public domain ( tho I had no idea about the teddy or the ‘who is and who’s not’ circumcision competition until now) Its about context and the fact that Harry’s laying all this out to a global audience & (re) opening old wounds telling ‘his truth’ . It’s so very cruel. I’m no royalist and had little respect for Charles as PoW for all sorts or reasons but I do feel enormous empathy for him as a person now. Maybe it’s all a Faustian plot in which a Harry sacrifices himself for the RFs rebound on a tsunami like wave of sympathy. But I doubt it.

I don't really think so. At least no one ever mentions them to me.

Or me. I haven't seen it in my local news at all, I'm getting all the updates from MN.

Elayna · 07/01/2023 01:31

So sorry to hear that happened to you Londonmummy1966 💐

AliceOlive · 07/01/2023 10:38

@londonmummy1966 Sending love to your Teddy from my Stuffed Moose. What a good bear to have been there by your side through thick and thin.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 07/01/2023 10:57

That’s really sad @londonmummy1966 , I used to do the same.
unfortunately when my mother found me talking to my beloved teddy she threw it on the fire.

I have my teddy sitting on my bedside table. Last time DSis visited (with her teddy) she took a photo of them both together, paw in paw, sitting on my bed.

That's really sweet and lovely. ❤️

This thread has made me cry. I can really empathise with Charles, as I was bullied at school and I have a love of stuffed animals, (I've just counted 10 on my bed.) I'm a grown woman. This just humanises Charles to me, and his son being spiteful about it is just awful. My mum still has her childhood teddy, as do I. Plus I still regret giving away some of my stuffed animals when I had to move last year!

SapphireSeptember · 07/01/2023 11:29

@londonmummy1966 I'm so sorry you had to do through that. ❤️ But I'm glad you had your teddy bear to talk to.

@CoffeandTiaMaria Oh, that's awful. 😟 I'm sorry your mother did that, what a horrible thing to do to a child.

This is terrible. Can you find a similar one now? I really think you should.

BigFatLiar · 07/01/2023 15:51

I think the weirdest part about it is his you keep hearing that he wants to get back with his family yet spends his time bad mouthing them.

I think that’s just part of the victim act he is performing for the public. I don’t believe he’s shown any evidence of truly wanting a relationship with them.

Poor Charles, both for the childhood bullying and current bullying by his son.

Indeed. Charles has just become king and lost his parents.
I find this so utterly cruel to share with the world for money.
It is beneath contempt.
Harry is simply a vile bully

BitOutOfPractice · 07/01/2023 17:57

This really is just spite now isn’t it?

Yes I think so. Harry has knowingly exposed the King to ridicule and derision from a lot of people.

AWaferThinMint · 07/01/2023 19:01

Can we still formally excommunicate people???

FWIW I still have my childhood teddy and at times of stress I have a cuddle and inhale the smell of childhood.

jtaeapa · 07/01/2023 19:07

I’m pretty much neutral re King Charles, but I wouldn’t judge him for carrying a teddy round. It’s also sweet to tuck it into bed.

Forthelast · 07/01/2023 19:08

That's a low blow.

@Coxspurplepippin how cute. My poor bears is as bald and loved as your two. It's how's how much love has gone into them 🥰

in America I mean they have a big following

I'm in the USA and actually people go out of their way to tell me that they don't have any time for them.
My teenage son was most annoyed his hairdresser insisted on talking about this with him because he couldn't care less about either of them.

That said CNN is always running weirdly sympathetic segments on them.

Daniella12 · 07/01/2023 19:51

I think that it is sweet that he shares his bed with his teddy bear, but off putting that his valet’s job is to place it in his bed. Why can’t he do it himself. I mean that kind of entitled behaviour puts me off the monarchy?

If your the sort that has stsff then it's probably normal. If you stay a a posh hotel.youll probably have the bed turned down for you.

OMG! I still have my childhood teddy bear, and it’s pretty much identical to your one on the right.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/01/2023 20:26

Capri3 🥰. He's mine and well over half a century old.
