Harry reveals Charles carries a teddy because of childhood bullying

According to Maureen Callahan, Harry writes that Charles takes his childhood teddy bear everywhere due to the emotional scars he bears from childhood bullying.

As she writes: "Know what's pitiful? Taking the private pain and vulnerabilities of those closest to you, [and] mocking them for public consumption and profit."

That is not Harry's story to tell. It is Charles. It is intensely private.

Furthermore, I don't want to know that William is circumcised, how or where or why Harry lost his virginity, that H is fixated on his "mummy", that he thinks Meghan is "magic" and why, none of it.

Harry is intensely sick. The resentments he harbors, the overwhelming jealousy, the rage, the appalling lack of character and intellect. He’s really showing himself up.

Crikey all this faux concern for somebody nobody knows here whilst the country goes to the dogs and some of our people go hungry and cold to bed tonight. What you sow ye shall reap and that's whats happening here. I blame the parents all of them. Abdicate and all this nonsense begone. Enough is enough this is the 21st Century time for a Republic.

Yet, here you are posting faux outrage whilst the country goes to the dogs and some of our people go hungry and cold to bed tonight.
What are you doing about that?

PatchworkElmer · 08/01/2023 07:49

The Netflix documentary really won me over. I’m disappointed by what’s come out across about the book so far- so many misjudgements, so many petty little jibes. I don’t see how H can harp on about privacy with a straight face now that he’s drawn so much attention to very private and personal information. Even if it was in the public domain before, drawing attention to it again is pretty spiteful.

What's that got to do with Charles' Teddy??

Fair do's - the thread with the whole Justine Telegraph article running here.. (bet it's a rare very posh one , the bear that is).

I've read that. Im just surprised it's on this thread which has had nothing to do with M at all and has been all about teddies. 🤣

Elegant Tubsy Grin

It's so obvious from the stories on this thread how fundamentally important our childhood comfort 'toys' are, their longevity (in our hearts if not actually physically) and the part they play in our memories. It makes me wonder if Harry had/has a teddy.

She's very elegant. 😁

Indeed! Thinking of this, one of my brothers still has the remains of his old blanket. There's not a lot left of it now. Comfort objects are so important!

Justine has said in the Telegraph today that the anti Meghan sentiment on here is deranged. Quite.

Im very confused about why you’ve quoted me while referencing this!

I hadn't heard anything about Charles' teddy until now. So even if it was previously published, Harry's inclusion of it has brought it to a whole new and far wider audience.
Still, even if you personally hadn’t heard about it before, surely it’s widely hypocritical for the Daily Mail to publish an article criticizing Harry for ‘revealing’ it when the Daily Mail (along with a plethora of other publications) ran a story on Charles’ teddy just 2 months ago?

I think it’s crueller coming from Harry.

The press will print anything, anything to make them a quick quid.

Bit you wouldn’t expect it from your own son.

That’s my take anyway

Exactly. A lot of these revelations are not new. The tabloids have already published them.

Sugarfree23 · 08/01/2023 18:15

Yeah but how did the tabloids get that info 2 months ago?
Someone at the printers?

Surely it depends what he actually wrote about it (particularly given that the ‘revelation’ itself is not new).

There’s nothing in the actual quotes from Harry’s book used in the Callahan article that necessarily reads as ill-spirited.

It was contained in a biography of Charles that was released last year.

ArcaneWireless · 08/01/2023 18:23

It doesn’t matter that a lot of ‘private’ matters are already out there. He chose to repeat them again when he knew the spotlight was on him.

Fine with him having his say. I really do think he missed an opportunity to air legitimate matters that troubled him.

And yet he chose to puff up his penee.

tales of losing virginity - gobshite move.

tales of seal singing - questionable move.

tales of his time on duty - deeply ill advised move.

detailing the medical matters of others - despicable move

But trying to throw more shade on his dad by repeating that he keeps something with him that brought him comfort?

That is a cunt move.

All. Day. Long.

NoBoatsOnSunday · 08/01/2023 18:32

I really think it depends what’s actually written on the topic in the book, and I do not trust the Daily Mail to provide the context in a fair and balanced way.

SapphireSeptember · 08/01/2023 21:34

@AliceOlive Hello old friends! ❤️

AliceOlive · 08/01/2023 22:41

My litmus test is, do you think Harry asked permission to write about these private matters publicly? I’m imagining the phone calls:

”Hello Willy? Do you mind if I tell my ghost writer about your Willy?”

londonmummy1966 · 08/01/2023 23:51

@Coxspurplepippin - was the bear on the left originally pink? Looks exactly like mine that I referred to up thread?

Sugarfree23 · 09/01/2023 01:10

@AliceOlive not a chance did he ask permission to discuss the RF penani (what is the plural of penis?)

Also unfair to discuss Mr Bear 🐻

ArcaneWireless · 09/01/2023 01:18

Penii.

Said out of earshot of my 🧸

And so what? I've got some little stuffed toys from my mother's room - Australian charities sell them to raise funds and she bought a few. They were in her bedroom and now they're in mine.

Poor Charles. I really feel for him today.

I have an old battered Teddy which my Dad bought for me on the day I was born. I can't part with him. We were both 70 in November and I consider him a luck bringer.
So Charles kept his old teddy. Big deal. Harry is a treacherous wee nyaf to encourage people to laugh at his father. But I expect people are too busy laughing at singing sea lions to bother with Charles's Teddy.

ArcaneWireless · 09/01/2023 02:09

If anyone still struggles with the idea that grown ups have deep connections with their soft toys/dolls - you just have to watch the Bear Ladies on the Repair Shop.

The happiness they bring to people when they restore beloved toys (that have been loved to threads, a wonky smile and a bit of squashed stuffing) is a thing of beauty.

Cariadz · 09/01/2023 02:12

My Mum threw away my comfort blanket

If it helps you, there was a time when parents were told this was the way to deal with comfort blankets. Perhaps she was following what was suggested by parenting gurus of the day. Not that Im excusing what happened to you and I’m very sorry it did.

No, he was quite a pale beige colour rather than pink. Poor thing's had orange jelly puked on him, been attacked by a dog (hence the ear) and DSis didn't want him pegged to the washing line by the ears after he'd been washed so Mum rigged up a harness for him so he could swing freely from the washing line a bit like a bruin parachutist.
