The royal family

Is this the reason why Harry talked about Afghanistan, 25 Taliban dead?

Why did he say this, surely he knew he'd make himself a bigger target.

So, in your opinion, what was the reason behind this?

You are right he may have been on the "Talibans list records" However, Talibans list is massive and any group of armed people inc the taliaban do forget as time goes on and new people go to the top of the list as often memory is short.

This rant by Harry has brought it right back up. When did you hear the Taliban last mention Harry - that right that was years ago but no this, only harry to blame

I really feel for King Charles as he will now feel he has to pay for their security. Nobody could have it on their conscious if anything was to happen to the innocent kids. I really hope this was not a shake down plan, and it does reflect stupidity. When the stakes are this high …

Charles doesn’t need to pay. Harry and Meghan are worth a couple of hundred million. They are wealthy beyond most peoples dreams. They can easily pay 3 million a year for security. Paying for it is not a problem or issue

smileladiesplease · 06/01/2023 13:34

I honestly think he's gone mad. This will make him snd his family more targets than ever. The chess piece remark is vile and not one any British army officer or indeed any soldier would make. Professional soldiers respect the enemy even as they kill then.

Also if Harry immediately sought this therapist after the dog bowl fight why the fuck wasn't Megan seeing the therapist if she was so traumatised.

They lie so much they trip themselves up.

jtaeapa · 06/01/2023 13:34

I think his advisor/ghostwriter/wife/himself/whoever should have thought much more carefully before publishing something that would stir up the Taliban and put a target on his back (and his family). I am afraid for what is going to happen to him.

Sorry, how can they be worth anything like that amount of money?

She would have had a few million at most from her acting career. He would have had Diana's money, and perhaps with other sources that's a few tens of millions at most. Their much touted 'deals' with NF and Spotify won't net them all that much when various 'cuts' are taken out, taxes are paid and so on. Obviously they are rich by 'normal person' standards but they have a very expensive lifestyle. No way are they worth hundreds of millions. Unless you can explain how?

Abigail69 · 06/01/2023 13:39

IMO, they should withdraw the book and take out the bits about the Taliban.

There are so many nutters around and some of these may only loosely affiliated themselves to one group or another but lash out as they are attention seeking.

I fear the rehtoritc from those that side with the Taliban is just going to grow

The best way forward, withdraw the book for the sake of everyone. Harry has enough cash to pay the publisher. so it can be easily done. A lesson learned IMO

I think it will make primarily harry and his immediate family a target, and potentially from a breakaway cell. The second target will be the rest of the royal family.

security services will be looking at it now I guess, listening to chatter and trying to work out if a threat is being planned by the Taliban or a Taliban supporter on the royals.

all it takes is a lone wolf. One person to read it, take offence and take action. It’s just an awful situation.

Ever since Mountbatten the BRF have been high level targets for just about anyone with a grievance against the British state. I don't see this revelation changing that calculation he is the son of the King of GBNI after all.

Pansypotter123 · 06/01/2023 13:44

Sadly I fear it is too late to withdraw the bits about the Taliban. That information is already in the world wide public domain and the consequences of that will now have to be faced. I was laughing at some of the book's revelations yesterday; today not so much in the light of the Taliban comments.

This. The Netflix and Spotify deals are paid out as they produce content (probably with a bonus for certain levels of ratings reached) not a lump sum at the beginning.

I’m sure he got an advance for the book but it’s unlikely to be more than 15 or 20 million.

That might be an enormous amount for you and me but I’d be astounded if their lifestyle cost less than 5 or 6 million a year when security and paying their mortgage is taken into account.

If they don’t keep earning, they will probably be broke in a few years. If the RF want them to shut up, they may have to pay up. Bearing in mind they’ve apparently done just that for Andrew, there is precedent.

That is simply not going to happen. You can turn back the hands of time.

vera99 · 06/01/2023 13:46

Can't obviously 🙄

reports say it’s 60 million, but he was worth 36 million and her 6 before they even left. They have then done multiple deals with Spotify, Netflix, different companies etc . Netflix alone is 100 million over 5 years.

There has never been any confirmation of the amount the NF 'deal' is worth.

And the figure you are citing, even if true, will be a production deal. It's not like that amount, or anything close, will be wired to their account with no conditions attached. I've seen different kinds of speculation as to how these things are done, but either way, the amount of net profit they will get is likely to be 'only' in the low millions. Not a lot for their lifestyle, and they'll need to keep coming up with quality content consistently, something they don't seem capable of doing.

Still nowhere close to 'hundreds of millions'.

tasamoon · 06/01/2023 13:50

His comments as reported are revolting, shocking awful. Where is the respect for human life? What about their families, their children?

Ohnonevermind · 06/01/2023 13:50

You do understand that these programs dont make themselves for free

They have production and audio departments (now decimated due to people leaving) and the they had to buy their latest documentary etc

There’s no way they’re worth that much.

Harry inherited less than £20 million from Diana and QEQM.

Even with careful investments and Meghan’s Suits salary there’s no way that’s gone up to a couple of hundred million.

They’re wealthy, but part of the reason they’ve had to go down the selling every story route is that they are not wealthy enough to sustain this level of lifestyle forever

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 06/01/2023 13:53

The more I think about it, the harder it is to digest that a man of his calibre along with his people that are very close to him, how on earth did they allow this to happen?

To me it says that he doesn’t listen to advice.

There’s no way that through all of this no-one has advised them to stop, or change tact, or the likes.

They simply don’t listen.

Boulshired · 06/01/2023 13:54

I find that throughout the documentary, interviews and the extracts of the book a lacking of the ability to view from the alternative perspective. Whilst it might have been easier for Harry to view as chess pieces the optics of how this would be perceived by others including the Taliban have been ignored.

OwwwMuuuum · 06/01/2023 13:56

So what you’re saying is it’s ok for the army etc to go over and kill “Taliban” (Muslims) but not to talk about it? Insane. The army are there to kill people, soldiers are trained killers, of other killers yes but also any innocent collateral - women, children, animals - that’s what war is.
If you sign up to be in the armed forces, you are literally signing up to kill innocent people, in the name of “hearts and minds” or whatever shit they come out with next. It’s all war, it’s all killing. Its all absolutely repellent to me.
At least Harry has been honest about that. I find it disgusting that there is then this expectation “unwritten rule” that soldiers are somehow not supposed to mention how many they have killed. Sorry to go off point but I think it’s absolutely revolting.

MistletoeandBaileys · 06/01/2023 14:01

Surely he can’t attend the coronation now? The amount of people who will be in London for that is insane. I imagine security wise it is already hectic trying to sort it. Having someone who has openly spoken about the Taliban and his kills attending is surely a bad idea?

Ohnonevermind · 06/01/2023 14:05

He can’t attend the coronation, the invictus games are in Germany this summer, surely that’s a concern too

Abigail69 · 06/01/2023 13:10

This is really kicking off IE Taliban going on tv etc. It's only a matter of time before you get videos from nutters etc.

This is clearly self-inflicted and I hope us the taxpayers don't have to foot the bill for extra security.

I still can't imagine that Harry of all people that bleat about the "security" of his "family" could not envisage the fallout.

Could it be that it's a mistake, comments taken out of context/misquoted or something that should have not been published accidentally published?

I honestly can't see Harry wanting stuff like this published

I'd like to think the comment has been completely taken out of context from the text within the book.

That said, what an absolute plank for even saying anything along those lines, let alone allow it to be published in a much hyped up book!!

As another PP said, he may as well have painted targets on his, Meghans and his kids heads!

So blinded by his childish rage of being unfairly treated differently (in his eyes) that it's rendered his ability to see sense. I just feel so sad for those 2 kids of his.

bakalava · 06/01/2023 14:17

Her first divorce settlement was 2.5m She netted only 1.5m from acting and endorsements which is pretty modest.

Out of context, I think so too. But, no matter how it is now looked at, he is back on the Taliban minds and the whole of the royal family for that matter.

I think Harry needs to come out of hiding and give the BBC/etc in the uk an interview and remind people that the comments are out of context and in hindsight he'd been a proper fool, etc.

Why? In a war zone the mindset is different. Your basing your opinion on most likely a civilian life with no training or experience into that mindset. When soldiers return home in most cases at least, they don't want to talk about killing other people, let alone publicise it to the whole bloody world, including the people whose families you killed. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can easily guess what he may have or not have done. No need for the detail.

He's an idiot.
