What the hell is his end goal?

So Harry is worried about security and yet has written in his book that he’s killed 25 Talibans.
He is dangerous. He is dangerous to the UK, to his family and to himself
He seems intent to be stirring up hatred.
I am so glad that HM The Queen isn’t seeing this 🥹 All her years of service being trashed by someone she loved so much

It's impossible to imagine that he believes writing this is going to heal family rifts so other than money, does he have an end game? I doubt he does much forward planning. He's probably had guidance his entire life.

Of course we've only heard the most salacious bits so when the book is taken as a whole, maybe he'll come across well and his reputation will be enhanced. He'll need that to keep relevance and connections.

Its too early to say how all this will go. The media reports in the US seem quite sympathetic towards him so far.

clyspa · 06/01/2023 03:40

In the book he even goes into which of them had the bigger bedroom ('Willy, because he is the heir' and is apparently claiming he was born to be plan B and in case William needed a spare kidney (I am paraphrasing) - just odd

It's just so childish

MarshaMelrose · 06/01/2023 06:29

He really hasn't left being a child. It's as if he's stopped maturing when his mother died. But the amount of resentment and bitterness that he is carrying around inside must be crushing. No wonder William and Meghan told him to sort himself out and getvsome help. I wonder how it manifests on a day by day basis? And if he cuts himself off ftom the family, will he need to find a new target or will he be able to let go of it all.

milveycrohn · 06/01/2023 06:34

I presume it's a case of throwing enough mud, that some of it will stick!
He can't really believe this will heal family rifts.
As regards the bedrooms, it is often the case in our standard 3 bed semi, that the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are very different in size. We got around it by swapping the children around periodically.

Redglitter · 06/01/2023 06:38

Its as if everything he says is getting more controversial in an attempt to provoke a response from the RF

Apparantly he still hopes for a reconciliation. Think that ships long since sailed

I cant see how he can possibly come back from this.

Redglitter · 06/01/2023 06:41

You only need to look at any of the threads on here to see the eldest getting the biggest room is normal

I cant imagine he was stuck in a box room somewhere. His bedroom was probably bigger than most master bedrooms

It's really scraping the bottom of the battle when you're writing about things like this

ohfook · 06/01/2023 06:42

I've no idea what his end goal is but his words stating that he still believes in the monarchy don't align with his actions at all.

custardbear · 06/01/2023 06:45

I literally nearly spat out my drink when i heard he had disclosed killing 25 people when he was a soldier - the man who is banging on about security all the time and he's drawing targets on his own, possibly his family's backs - he's a clown, but how didn't someone editing pick this up

clyspa · 06/01/2023 07:02

His account of what happened with Chels (Chelsey) is also a bit silly for me. He's kinda suggesting they didn't work out because the Queen disapproved of her mini skirts - like Kate and even Anne wore back in the day when young adults too?

The writing style is awful imo - I got my wings and so did she, she wanted freedom and I wish I had it too / it's relentless in everything being the same narrative - I'm trapped, overlooked, hapless = all just happens to me

To be balanced he does also notes the poor woman was followed by the press etc which I can completely understand put strain on them etc

Ultimately when it comes to his previous girlfriends I don't get why he hadn't seemed to see those experiences as a blueprint and why when dating Meghan he doesn't seem to have planned with her from the start a completely different life. Instead it was let's be high profile royals day 1 when he already hated it and saw the pressures M would have. I still don't know why that is Williams fault.

Alexandernevermind · 06/01/2023 07:16

He's cleaning out his closest Kardashian style, and it's ugly. I actually don't disbelieve what he is saying, I just think its family stuff. We all have family drama, we've all fought with our siblings (although most of us would have been in single numbers) and argued with our parents. Talking about killing 25 Taliban fighters and describing them as chess peices to be eliminated was foolish and insensitive. He's spoilt and petulant.
His ex-army friend summed it up well, he said its like watching your mate after 50 pints, with no one telling him to stop.

MarshaMelrose · 06/01/2023 07:21

When they did the Fab Four interview prior to the marriage, Meghan asked to borrow Kate's lip gloss because she'd forgotten hers. (That's an Anercan thing, Harry adds. !!) Apparently Kate lent it o her but reluctantly (inderstabdable). According to Harry they should all have laughed about it but Kate was apprehensive because according to Harry...
Kate must have been “on edge,” as she was now “going to be compared to, and forced to compete with, Meg.”

It's like Harry was always competing with William so he was looking forward to the wives competing as well. I guess he was so besotted with her, he thought where before he felt he kept losing to William, now he was in a couple, he had a chance of winning.
And he was already thinking like this before the wedding. The whole purpose of his being seems to be to get one over on his big brother. I think even if William grovelled, gave an apology, said he envied everything Harry had and begged to swap with him, it wouldn't be enough for Harry.

MattDamon · 06/01/2023 07:29

His end goal is making as much money as possible, because that's all they are going to have when the doc/book/interviews drama dies down.

I was in a work zoom yesterday with some Americans and they were all appalled by the book excerpts, saying he'd gone too far.

Skyeheather · 06/01/2023 07:34

Money - for him and Megan to live happy ever after in the US in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to they need money. He can't get a normal job and Charles said they wouldn't fund him. He's got his various inheritances and that's it. His books and his TV shows seem to be his only sources for money. People will be bored of it soon though then what will they do.

I'm the elder and had a smaller room at home than my sister - I've never thought anything of it. We had an extension when I was small and I got the smallish but not tiny new room while my sister was in the box room; a couple of years later she petitioned for and got the 'second bedroom' which was the same size as the 'master bedroom' - just the way things pan out sometimes.

Sorry if this is an obtuse question, but why can't he get a normal job? I get he can't go and work in a supermarket etc for security reasons, but he could start his own company doing "motivational speaking", or go back to the forces, or, I dunno, just eBay stuff. Same as millions of other people across the world.

Madamecastafiore · 06/01/2023 08:00

I think the initial sympathy for them after their Oprah interview spurred them on to agree to the book and other interviews quickly and then the tide turned and people saw that it's them creating the issues but they're just too far down the rabbit hole now and are having to come up with more and more spurious outlandish stuff to move us back onto their side without realising it's just not going to work.

trulyunruly01 · 06/01/2023 08:08

If indeed he has a cunning plan (rather than needing an urgent MH intervention from his wife and MIL) there can only be one of two aims - the "if I'm going down I'm taking you with me" mentality; or to blackmail his father into granting every single one of his desires in return for him shutting his cakehole. Security? Ofc. Guaranteed income? Ofc. Titles for all? Ofc. Apartment in Buck House and Windsor for occasional use? Ofc. Front row, aisle seat, fawning servants? Yep.
Personally, I think Meghan and Doria, who seem to be the main constants in his life now, need to intervene.

DuncanBiscuits · 06/01/2023 08:11

He’s not very well at all. He’s living out his pain in public, and I really hope he doesn’t end up like Peaches Geldof, repeating history because it’s the only way to be close to his mother again.

pilates · 06/01/2023 08:11

Ok, so he is going to earn a lot of money but will he get happiness- no! Sadly, he has made himself look unbalanced, petulant and egocentric.

paleviolet · 06/01/2023 08:13

I think he has serious mental health issues. Placing himself as a victim constantly and never taking any responsibility for his actions. He believes he is always right.
This is not the way a well man behaves.

ImBlueDab · 06/01/2023 08:20

He's starting to appear like that girl at school, who is in the popular group (but not queen bee), who takes a dislike to a certain other girl and will stop at nothing to slag her off, even saying the most ridiculous things. The other girls in the group know she's 'mad as a box of frogs' and she's making things up, when pulled up on it she'll say that 'she wants to be friends with the girl' but her actions don't match.

It does feel like he's throwing so much mud, in an attempt for some, or anything for that matter will stick.

toomuchlaundry · 06/01/2023 08:23

If there is meant to be a 3 book deal, what is going to be in the other 2 books?

MarshaBradyo · 06/01/2023 08:23

He’ll earn loads of money from sales and just continue his own story

LizzieSiddal · 06/01/2023 08:32

I’ve just read the extract about when he was told his mum had had an accident. It’s heartbreaking. His dad didn’t even hug him and he was left alone in his room for hours until 9 o’clock in the morning. He wants everyone to know this and I don’t blame him. The royals need a shake up, and he’s ensuring it.

HarrysTales · 06/01/2023 08:33

Meghan asked Kate to lend her her lip gloss? That's so unhygienic, do people really do this in the US past their school tears? Do American's really have such different personal boundaries?
