Meghan WAS banned from Balmoral after Queen’s death

In his book, Harry also claims that his father told him that Meghan should not come to Balmoral. The Queen was staying at her Scottish estate when she died last September.

The prince wrote: "Then my father called again. He told me I was welcome at Balmoral, but… without her. He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him.

"Don't even think about talking about my wife like that.

"Repentant, he said, stammering, that he simply didn't want the place to be full of people. Nobody's wife was going to go, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either."

He’s a twat. Why would the Queen want Meghan there after all they put her through? If Kate wasn’t going either then no one was being treated unfairly. It was a solemn family moment, and of course Harry has to use it for media attention.

RedBea · 05/01/2023 22:36

Why on earth would Meghan want to be around them at a time like this even they’d previously done the Oprah interview & tensions were high. The reason she wanted to go was to sell her side of the story.

I think both are spoilt/pampered. Never been told No! Never told they are wrong. It’s a bad combination.

considering they promote mental wellness & reflection they couldn’t have done much of it themselves. They cannot see anybody else’s POW only their own.

OMG12 · 05/01/2023 22:36

Fucking hell this is a car crash. There is literally no chance of reconciliation after this. Is Harold really that deluded? Did Megs allow this to be released to make sure he was permanently ostracised from his family and solely under her control?

their poor kids!

I don’t give two shits about this convo but I do just want to point out that there are hundreds of rooms at balmoral. It’s not exactly a two up two down :)

And that isn’t relevant! What would have been the use of Meghan, or Kate for that matter being there?? None!!

What's the relevance of that? It's not as if Harry was asking for a bedroom, he was asking for his wife to be present at his grandmother's deathbed.

ScribblingPixie · 05/01/2023 22:36

There is no story I've read today that doesn't inadvertently cast Harry and Meghan in a bad light. This one is the worst. They must have caused so much distress to everybody at the worst possible time. When I think of Princess Anne at her mother's side when she died, then accompanying her coffin so steadfastly, and looking utterly exhausted by the end, well...

The fact that Harry arrived so late and hid plane sat for so long before leaving tells me he was throwing a tantrum to try get his way and bring Meghan. When his gran had just died. Classy guy

It may have been Harry foot stamping that meant the plane carrying William etc arrived after HM's death, they had been waiting for Harry to make up his little mind, or to have it made up for him.

Denise82 · 05/01/2023 22:36

This to me is unforgivable, selling the conversation from the day your Grandmother was dying is disgusting.
Charles had every right to say who could and could not attend his mother's bedside as she passed away, perhaps it was her last wishes too.

But to make such a personal moment and private conversation public for money and to use it against your father who was losing his mother and would have been completely devastated at the time tells us all we need to know about Harry.

No one and no moments are safe around these two.

It is easier also to say oh Meghan is crazy and Harry is being controlled but the royal family have always manipulated things and least Harry has respect for his wife and sees her as his equal unlike his dad Charles who treated Diana just vile and used her as a baby machine. But some will just believe the firm and support them even though there is a pervert/abuser in their family and Charles who cheated all through his marriage and the list goes on. They are normal people who just have a title and lots of money so it is in their interest to keep all their shameful stories a secret before the public get sick of them and see that they are really no different to anyone else. Least Harry has the balls to leave and not live that damaged life and about time someone spoke out.

Yes, but when he left, he still managed to complain tax payers funded security was stopped. He carried on to use the titles and has no intention to denounce the monarchy 's way if being. With all the bitterness inside him, he can barely be called a complete man. Saying he's brave? I don't think he himself really agree with your view.

noooope · 05/01/2023 22:38

@SnowAndIceLobelia I think Kate would have wanted to be there as she actually had a relationship with the late Queen and with the position she is in but I guess at the heat of the moment they must have thrown her under the bus as long as it kept Meghan away "oh look even Kate isn't coming". If by doing this, still yabber about his wife being entitled at a moment where the UK has lost its head of state, his father lost his mother, his father jumping into a new role without having a chance to role, god knows what Harry would have said if even Kate was there. I think no one can ever win with this pair. Ever! Even mn isn't allowing threads to be deleted compared to two years ago 😂

BethJ62 · 05/01/2023 22:38

Harry refused to have dinner with KC and W that evening in Balmoral and was on the first flight out of Aberdeen in the morning . Could he not have stayed a few hours to support his father ?

sashagabadon · 05/01/2023 21:06

What a rude and ungrateful son Harry is. The last thing a son should be doing when his father needs support is acting like a prick. Poor Charles having to put up with Harry all these years.

Haha this was a good laugh, thank you.

Tinkerbyebye · 05/01/2023 22:39

We know this, it was all over the press at the time

Abouttimemum · 05/01/2023 22:39

When my grandparents died I think the last thing on my mum’s mind was potentially upsetting my DH. We all travelled straight over without our partners. He’s such a bloody drama queen.

SnowlayRoundabout · 05/01/2023 22:39

Given that Harry has shown he won't even respect the privacy of his father and grandmother when she was dying, I imagine the RF has firmly decided never to have anything to do with him again. Why would they speak to him knowing absolutely anything they say will turn up, probably in highly embellished form, in his next money-making venture?

JudgeJ · 05/01/2023 22:41

fancyacuppatea · 05/01/2023 21:29

IIRC William, Edward and Sophie didn't arrive in time anyway - so even if Harry hadn't had a hissy fit and been delayed and had travelled with them, he wouldn't have been there in time anyway.

Maybe be his hissy fit caused their plane to be delayed and they arrived too late. The situation was pretty well understood from the morning according to people who were working in the offices, no other reason for it to leave so late.

Quirkyme · 05/01/2023 22:41

ily0 · 05/01/2023 21:24

Does Harry not realise how bad this book is making Meghan sound? The staff thought she was “rude and abrasive” (his words) and the Queen and Charles wanted her to stay away from them. This makes her sound awful! I can’t believe she let him write this and doesn’t have the self awareness to know this makes it sound like she is the problem.

I have to agree, slightly.

I like Meghan, not a fan of Harry.
And I have to say I'm sick of him and his chat. He comes across as disingenuous, tone-deaf and full of shite.

Jakadaal · 05/01/2023 22:42

It seemed quite evident at the time as it was claimed first she was going then she wasn't. Harry allegedly refused to get on the flight with his brothers and other and therefore was the last to arrive at Balmoral. I would like to think the Queen had muttered and don't let that Meghan here over my dead body!

Sadly both Meghan and Harry showed to the public very little regard towards the Queen

Supergirl1958 · 05/01/2023 22:43

The whole thing makes the walk out to the crowds two days later even more magnificent, like, what was that about, really?

Youarethesun · 05/01/2023 22:43

It’s not even a revelation. That’s the story the press generally went with. Or so I thought.

sweetgingercat · 05/01/2023 22:45

Losing a parent is a hugely traumatic, wholly personal and intensely emotional experience. When mine died I needed time to be with them, to talk to them, touch them, sing to them and cry over them before their bodies were taken away and they were physically gone from my life.

I could not imagine wanting to be with anyone who wasn't wholly supportive, whose anger and betrayal might have diminished those final moments.

Given the circumstances, Harry is lucky he was able to be there at all.

JudgeJ · 05/01/2023 22:46

thebellagio · 05/01/2023 21:31

Quite frankly, I can’t imagine Anne would have wanted her their either. Anne is famously direct to the point, I’d love to be a fly on the wall for her response to this,

I've long wanted to be a fly on the wall when Anne and Zara crack open a bottle of wine and have a real session talking about H and M! After Diana's death Anne became very close to her nephews, I recall the 10th anniversary when Harry had done a reading during the service, outside the Abbey, or wherever, Anne hugged Harry and I've never seen her do that publically before. She must feel so disappointed at how he's turned on his family.

Legselevens · 05/01/2023 22:46

He’s a spoilt, entitled idiot and he should know better. No good will come from this. What a whingy and whiny prat he is.

Seems to be the case of we can’t invite one without the other. Kate was going to had to allow Meghan to go

MerryChristmasToYou · 05/01/2023 22:47

@Angliski , it's not about the size of the place; it was something for the immediate family. W + H were going to be there as they were the PoW's children.

Tim and Sophie were there as the SIL and DIL of the monarch.
Can't remember if Camilla was there
