Meghan WAS banned from Balmoral after Queen’s death

In his book, Harry also claims that his father told him that Meghan should not come to Balmoral. The Queen was staying at her Scottish estate when she died last September.

The prince wrote: "Then my father called again. He told me I was welcome at Balmoral, but… without her. He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him.

"Don't even think about talking about my wife like that.

"Repentant, he said, stammering, that he simply didn't want the place to be full of people. Nobody's wife was going to go, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either."

Only two grandchildren went to Balmoral neither with their partners - that was not a ban in my view. This was a time of grief for the Queen's children not an event

I thought it was Tony Blair who wanted Harry and William to walk?

I recall reading at the time that William was intent on walking and Harry said If he's walking then so am I, it was then that Philip said he would walk too.

Had she be allowed to be at the bedside of the Queen, there would no doubt be another Netflix series, and accompanying book, containing information about the last moments of our Queen’s life. Harry’s total lack of self awareness is truly appalling. What a twat he’s turned out to be.

Losing a parent is a hugely traumatic, wholly personal and intensely emotional experience. When mine died I needed time to be with them, to talk to them, touch them, sing to them and cry over them before their bodies were taken away and they were physically gone from my life.

I could not imagine wanting to be with anyone who wasn't wholly supportive, whose anger and betrayal might have diminished those final moments.

Given the circumstances, Harry is lucky he was able to be there at all.

He didn’t stay. Last in. First out.

I actually think Harry is more attention-seeking than Meghan tbh.

She gets that added bad rep for a variety of reasons but I truly think Harry is all those things you've said tbh

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 05/01/2023 22:54

The more I read the more Harry just makes himself look like an absolute idiot

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 05/01/2023 22:54

@Youarethesun
*Can people stop this ‘they are German’ shit. ‘German’ isn’t an insult.

and secondly you are degrading every immigrant and children of immigrants. My mother wasn’t British. My dads parents weren’t British. That doesn’t make me any less British than someone who can trace their lineage more generations.

How many generations do you demand people have before they can be British?*

Absolutely! 👏🏽The thing about saying the RF is German weird!

  1. Almost everyone I know has distant relatives from another country. DH has an Italian great grandfather. That doesn’t make him Italian!
  2. Why is it awful, funny or even remarkable that someone is German?
Blossomtoes · 05/01/2023 22:54

He really has no shame at all. Today has been absolutely shocking for him.

My question would be why Meghan wanted to be there anyway?

This question sums it up. There is absolutely NO legit reason she'd want to fly to the deathbed of an in-law she hardly knew, to be among grieving people she famously didn't get on with.

There is only the obvious: money and intel (and to rub H's back).

Maybe she wanted to support her husband in the sad loss of his grandmother. As others have already said, his mental health is poor. He is estranged from his family. Maybe he felt he couldn't do it without her. After watching the netflix documentary, I do not believe they are 100% evil and the RF 100% good.

BethJ62 · 05/01/2023 21:46

Slightly off topic but Scobie is very quiet today !

That’s a good point. I thought he would have his face in the papers parroting what he has been told to say.

Bunnycat101 · 05/01/2023 22:57

Problem for him now is that his ‘version of the truth’ paints them both in such a bad light that he looks completely delusional and lacking in self-awareness. Given this version is the most flattering, I’d love to hear the version of events from the RF. you get the sense he is a petulant child who has been managed for many years and without the advisors his brattishness and entitlement is just coming out.

BMW6 · 05/01/2023 22:57

Fuck me is there any limit at all to their narcissism?

Can they genuinely not understand that they are ostricising themselves from the kind of people they must be "in" with to achieve their ambitions?

Do they think they will get invites from the Great and the Good after this? When they are so indiscrete? Willing to tell for $$$$$$$$$?

They have destroyed themselves utterley.

Highfivemum · 05/01/2023 22:58

I really believe Harry is having some kind of breakdown. He is not being logic. His Dad had lost his mum. He respects his wishes whether he like it or not. Charles knew it would have been all about Megan and he wanted his sons there. The fact that Harry is rambling on about nothing really and saying things that are so minor and irrelevant is to me showing g he needs help. I really do believe this will not end well. I have gone from feeling angry that he is an entitled over grown privileged child who needs to realise that in order to move forward you have to move on to now aldo feeling pity for him. This shd be the happiest time of his life. He loves his wife and family so go and enjoy them an get some help.

Quirkyme · 05/01/2023 22:58

@dogoncouch I agree

Saz12 · 05/01/2023 22:58

I’ve not seen the Netflix stuff. But if his mental health is as iffy as it seems, I get why they’d have wanted Megan there. Or maybe it’d have been better if he hadn’t attended at all.

RopeyOldBird · 05/01/2023 22:59

So what! It's passed, he needs to deal with it better than this

bluefrog11 · 05/01/2023 23:01

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me - well done Charles. Harry and MeAgain need to learn that the world doesn’t revolve around them. Can’t stand the pair of them.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/01/2023 23:02

I thought Kare stayed away as it was the Children's first day at a new school.

BethJ62 · 05/01/2023 22:38

Harry refused to have dinner with KC and W that evening in Balmoral and was on the first flight out of Aberdeen in the morning . Could he not have stayed a few hours to support his father ?

KC and W were having dinner at Birkhall by the time H arrived. H didn’t even see them or offer condolences to his dad.

ThighMistress · 05/01/2023 21:12

Why did Meghan want to go? She had presumably escaped the toxic mob so why did she want to place herself in the middle of it…… I wonder Hmm

Indeed. You’ve got to wonder.

Skodacool · 05/01/2023 23:03

bellac11 · 05/01/2023 21:07

Why do people keep calling him Harold, Ive seen this on another thread tonight. His name is Henry

That’s what William called him

LittleBearPad · 05/01/2023 23:03

Then my father called again. He told me I was welcome at Balmoral, but… without her. He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him.

It’s such an unkind response to his father whose mother is dying.

oakleaffy · 05/01/2023 23:06

It would have been very inappropriate for Meghan to be there at The Queen’s bedside, after all the trouble she has caused with Harry.

Dying people have the absolute right to say if they don’t want anyone there who makes the atmosphere tense.

Death is an intimate thing.

Harry and Meghan have been nothing but trouble- Telling tales for money.

LearnerCook · 05/01/2023 23:06

It was quite clear at the time that, because Harry was late flying up, that he'd spent too long arguing the toss about having Markle go with him.

Those 2 must be incredibly dim to even think that she would be welcome there. Every day, their entitlement gets more astonishing. And irritating.
